## What is Little Honu?

You're a young honu, a juvenile sea turtle with one instinct: keep going. Scramble down the beach, thread the crashing shore break, and strike out across open water for the next island, while the whole reef hunts you.

Little Honu is a retro pixel-art survival run. Every level is a CROSSING: you leave one beach and haul out on another, passing warm sand, the shallows, the reef and the wide-open blue. The longer crossings island-hop: brief sand to catch your breath before the next stretch of deep water. There's no level cap, and every crossing gets longer and meaner than the last.

SURVIVE THE REEF
• Read the hunters. Crabs snap from the sand and their hatchlings swarm out of it, seabirds dive from above, blacktips, tiger sharks and hammerheads prowl the deep, giant trevally patrol the reef edge, an octopus waits in the rocks, and a monk seal runs down anything in open water.
• Each predator hunts differently. Learn the tells, time your move, and slip past.
• Mind the seafloor too. Rocks block your path and eels strike from their lairs, and a turtle pinned in the open is a turtle that gets caught.

COME UP FOR AIR
• Your honu breathes. It surfaces on its own, and the bubbles trailing off its head are the only air meter you get: one bubble is plenty, a stream means it's going up now.
• Ghost fishing nets drift across the open water. Swimming under one is safe. Needing a breath under one is not.
• Clear the mesh before that held breath runs out — or spend a shield and tear the net open for good.

GRAB EVERYTHING
• Collect shells, starfish, pearls and glass floats for score.
• Snack on red seaweed, sea lettuce and sea grapes to keep your energy up for the next sprint.
• Bank boosters: a speed burst, an ink cloud to vanish from predators, a shell shield, and an air bubble to shove danger away.

DASH OR GET CAUGHT
• A one-tap dash gives you a burst of speed when a predator commits. Dodge the strike, then keep swimming.
• Get grabbed and you lose a life; run out and it's back to the beach.
• Two ways to play. Normal is the standard adventure, with the boosters you bought and every perk you've earned. HARD is a one-life hardcore run where nothing carries in: no bought boosters, no earned perks. You power up inside the run or not at all.

NO ADS, NO TRACKING
• Little Honu shows no advertising of any kind, to anyone. There is no third-party code in the app at all, nothing tracks you, and nothing is collected about you or your child.
• Every level is free. No level gates, no level cap, no interruptions.
• One optional unlock opens Hard difficulty and turns on turtle leveling.
• Booster packs are sold separately if you want a bigger kit. They are barred from Hard, so the hardcore board is earned, never bought.

LEVEL UP YOUR TURTLE (FULL GAME)
• Unlock the full game and your achievements start leveling up your honu with permanent perks: a faster sideways dodge, a longer dash, a quicker booster meter, more algae to snack on, and a tougher shell that carries an extra life.
• Grow from a scrappy juvenile into a hardened ocean survivor, run after run.
• Climb the Game Center leaderboards. Every difficulty has its own board.

Handcrafted pixel art, a living reef, and a crossing that gets tougher every wave. The next island is a long way off, little one. Get moving.

Little Honu is free to play and carries no advertising. Optional one-time in-app purchases unlock Hard mode, turtle perks and booster packs. There are no subscriptions and no recurring charges.

### 5/5 — A true labor of love

*2026-09-14*

The game is absolutely adorable, genuinely fun, and quite addicting. You can feel how much care went to it, with a ton of detail and personality. In a sea of games that have started to feel more manufactured, this one is a charming little gem. So much heart in this game!

### 5/5 — Relaxing and Challenging

*2026-09-03*

This game is so much fun to play. It’s a good way to just chill for an hour (or more!) It’s addictive! The island music lulls you into a zen mode which makes the somehow easier to play. The degree of difficulty definitely picks up as you progress through the levels and keeps you motivated to press on. Worth purchasing to keep what you’ve earned during each game and for the achievement perks.

### 5/5 — Very Addicting

*2026-09-02*

Super fun game! The music and vibes are spot on. Hard mode will put you into these genuinely dicey, nerve-wracking moments which is what keeps pulling me back in.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.5 — 2026-09-06

No ads. No tracking. Nothing collected.

NO ADS
• Little Honu carries no advertising of any kind, for anyone.
• There's no third-party code in the app at all — nothing tracks you, and
nothing collects anything about you or your child.
• Every level is free, with no level gates and no level cap.

A BETTER LOOKING OCEAN
• Hand-traced granite replaces every rock in the game.
• The moray eel got a full redraw and a proper boulder lair to strike from.
• Shore waves grow as they roll in, curl over, and wash out before the sand.
• Tide pools worn into the seabed, disturbed sand around every rock and resting
turtle, and flipper tracks pressed into the beach behind you.

ON THE SAND
• Walking on land slowly gives your energy meter back, so a long beach is a
rest. Sprint on sand and you'll still burn it down — just slower, because
you're getting some back as you go.

UNDER THE HOOD
• Quicker level starts, steadier frame rate deep into a crossing, and less
  memory held while you play.

### 1.2.1 — 2026-09-03

• The high score board now shows the top 50.
• Normal and Hard stay labelled as you scroll, so you always know
  which board you're on.
• Your own best is always in view, even when you're not near the top.
• A clearer message when scores can't load.

### 1.2 — 2026-09-02

Little Honu has to breathe now.

AIR
• Your honu surfaces for air on its own, and the bubbles trailing off its head are the only meter you get: one bubble means plenty, a trickle means low, a stream means it's going up right now. Every breath tops up your sprint.

DRIFT NETS
• Ghost fishing nets drift across the open water. Swimming under one is safe — needing a breath under one is not. Slip clear of the mesh before that held breath runs out, or spend a shield and tear the net open for good.

SMOOTHER EVERYWHERE
• A long performance pass: steadier frame rate deep into a crossing, quicker level starts, and far less memory held while you play.

ALSO
• A twelfth achievement. It's hidden, and that's all we're saying.
• Beach crabs no longer crowd into one stretch of sand, island patrols stay on their own island, and the flicker after a reef nip is gone.
• How to Play covers breathing and drift nets.
