She has great diction, but she doesn't pronounce words correctly. Plus, the story is written as if a 3rd grader put the story together. Improve that and I'll give you 5 stars. But for now I cringe every time I hear it reading to my children. ### 2/5 — Almost good *2011-10-25, version v2.2* Although the illustrations are beautiful, the language used by the storyteller is not correct and, at times, inappropriate for children. The story was obviously translated from another language to English and uses some incorrect or awkward words and phrases. I found this to be true of all the stories I downloaded from this company. Very disappointing. Every 3rd or 4th page a pop up appears with Inappropriate child content that cannotbe closed for 5 seconds usually SLOTS. Bad app. ### 1/5 — catc *2011-04-17, version v2.0* The description of this app should tell you that the english text sounds like it is translated from chinese and therefore is often grammatically incorrect. This can be a problem for an app that is targeting a young reading audience. Also, the read to me voices are just one person using different intonations as if they only had one person in the production suite that was capable of speaking english. I'm sure the chinese version of this is excellent. I also love the one page towards the end when the sea witch yells 'Little mermaid! I will KILL YOU!!' Overall very inappropriate for my 4 year old. ### 1/5 — Don't buy if you care about grammar. *2011-04-01, version v1.2* This book reads as if a 5-year-old wrote it, which I don't believe is the intent. The grammar is atrocious. I'm guessing from the first few (planted) comments that this was produced by people that speak English as a second language. The narrator's voice is tedious. Also annoying is that lack of settings (unless I missed them). When a child interacts with the background images, the audio talks over itself. That being said, my 5-yo liked it the first time, though I'm guessing she'll bore quickly with it. It's not a good tool to work on her reading and the preponderance of grammatical errors makes we want to hide it from my 7-yo. My 4 year old heard this and is now repeating it.
