### 4/5 — Fun

*2016-01-27*

I was going to buy my four year old a 'word whammer' I think this is fun, encouraging and I added in my own words and pictures.

### 4/5 — Little Speller

*2014-02-21, version 2.0*

This is wonderful!

### 5/5 — Customize with your own voice!

*2014-02-16*

I especially like that I can record my voice instead of the generic voice. For example, every time Levi has an "L" my voice says "L like in Levi" and all the reward sounds are fun and animated and meaningful to him in a voice he knows and loves.

### 5/5 — Great app!

### 5/5 — Fun and educational

*2013-08-23*

Great app! My 3 and 5 year old love it! They play all the time....during their fun iPhone time and learning iPhone time. Great way to introduce reading and spelling. Fun pics and good variety. One suggestion is to do rhyming words on order so kids can learn that for rhyming words you only change the first letter. Makes it easier to learn lots of words.

### 5/5 — Great App

Very intuitive for kids!

### 5/5 — Awesome

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Should be okay but so bad

*2021-04-06*

It should be an easy app, but they screwed it up so bad. The main issue is that no matter what letter you pick up first it will say the first letter of the word. For example in the word Car if you pick up the R it will always say C. So pretty useless

### 1/5 — Can't use the app

*2014-08-14*

We are unable to use this app at the moment. The screen icon shows up faded and says "waiting". It won't download anything and it doesn't come up with a 'x' so I can't delete it either. Please help :)

### 1/5 — No stars

*2013-05-15, version 2.0*

Having to go back " home" Everytime finish with a word....is really annoying .

### 1/5 — ......

*2012-10-11, version 2.0*

Some of the pictures that they choose to go with the words aren't really the best choices. For instance, the word cot is paired with a picture of a crib, the word 'can' is paired with a soda can. Also, it would be nice if they sounded out each letter as it is being selected and when saying the word.

### 1/5 — Blank screen

*2012-07-02*

Installed and wanted to check out before purchasing full version. App worked a few times then just a blank screen. Not great reviews from your paid version. Waste of time...

### 1/5 — Annoying pop up ads

*2012-01-30*

Very annoying pop up ads promoting other apps.

Some noticeable bugs and otherwise pretty ordinary...

### 1/5 — Not very good

*2011-11-10*

The problem I found with this app is that it allows the child to enter the letters in the wrong order and then praises them for it. At school, they will have to do it in the right order so they should be doing it with this app.

### 2/5 — JW

*2011-10-23*

Very strong American accent. Would say no good for English babies. Brill idea though.

### 3/5 — Not phonemic

*2013-11-16, version 2.0*

Nice app, but would give it 5 stars if it gave u the option of saying the letter sounds instead of the names. Phonemic awareness is a precursor of reading, knowing the letter sounds is key.

### 3/5 — Only one quibble

*2013-08-10*

This app is very simple and clean and does a great job. It has many options to customize the game. However, I do wish it had the option to turn off the letters in the boxes where you put the letter blocks. In other words, it would be great to have the word picture, audible voice prompt, scrambled letter blocks and BLANK SPACES WHERE YOU PUT THE LETTER BLOCKS. This would give another level of difficulty and opportunity for learning.

### 5/5 — Knowledge

*2015-12-16*

Nice apps

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2015-08-10*

This app is perfect for beginners, who are learning letters and letter sounds. It helps kids form simple words.

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2015-04-08*

Easy for kids to use and for me to customise the words and pronunciation.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2014-12-28*

Great educational app for my 4-year old.

### 5/5 — Update other apps for iOS 7

*2014-07-25, version 2.1*

We really like this app, but have outgrown it and would like to see sight words, three letter paid version, and four letter words updated for iOS 7. I hope you can do this soon.

### 5/5 — Grasshopper apps are the best! Awesome for kids with autism.

*2014-07-23, version 2.0*

I get all of the Grasshopper apps, because they've taught my child with autism things I'd been trying to teach her for years. Would be great for any child trying to learn new words, or having trouble spelling.

### 5/5 — Super app!

*2014-04-15, version 2.0*

My grandson has recently shown an interest in putting letters together to form words, so this couldn't have come at a better time! He loves it!
