## What is Little Stoic Journal?

Guided Journaling and Mindfulness prompts for children. One time purchase with no subscription and no in app purchases required.

One morning, while my daughters slept and I folded laundry,
I found myself wishing for something that didn't exist yet,
a guide or tool that would give my girls something to use to help
move through the world with intention.

Not a points system. Not a streak counter. Not another screen
asking for their attention. Something grounded. Something that
would actually help a child think before they react, care
about who they are when nobody's watching, and find steadiness
in the middle of a hard day.

I searched. Found nothing that met the mark. So I sat down and
built it myself.

The Little Stoic Journal is a 52-week reflection guide for
children ages 6 and up — and for any adult who is still
growing. Every prompt is drawn from the writings of Marcus
Aurelius, Epictetus, and Seneca: three of history's most
practical philosophers, who wrote not about grand theories,
but about how to live an ordinary day well.

One prompt per week. One Stoic value. One concrete challenge.
Write your answer by hand, in a real notebook, away from this
screen. That is the whole practice.

WHAT'S INSIDE

52 weekly journal prompts — each paired with a Stoic value,
a weekly theme, and a practical challenge you can try in your
daily life. Two versions of every prompt: one for ages 6–9,
one for ages 10 and up.

A full Year Plan — 52 weeks organised across four quarters:
Foundation, Growth, Connection, and Mastery. The app tracks
your current week and highlights it automatically.

A curated Bookshelf — books and journals we genuinely use
and recommend, for children, parents, and educators who want
to go deeper.

Print & PDF export — every prompt generates a formatted,
printable journal page with writing lines, a name and date
field, and open creative space for drawing, doodling, or
free writing.

Progress tracking — mark prompts and weekly challenges as
complete. Your progress is saved on your device and never
shared with anyone.

THIS APP IS NOT A DIGITAL JOURNAL (by intent!)

The Little Stoic Journal is designed to be used alongside a
physical notebook. Find your prompt here. Then close the
screen, pick up a pen, and write your answer by hand.

Research consistently shows that handwriting activates more
of the brain than typing, leads to stronger memory, and
produces deeper reflection. The screen is the starting
point. The notebook is where the thinking happens.

FOR PARENTS AND EDUCATORS

Every prompt has two age versions — one for younger children
(ages 6–9) and one for older children and teens (ages 10+).
The same questions work for adults. These are not children's
questions that grown-ups happen to read. They are human
questions.

Educators are invited to request a complimentary access code
for classroom use. Email littlestoicjournal@gmail.com.

PRIVACY

The Little Stoic Journal does not collect, store, or transmit
any personal data. No account required. No analytics. No
tracking. Everything stays on your device.

I am not a philosopher, a child psychologist, or a parenting
expert. I am a dad who thought this would be something worth
making for his girls — and figured other families might find
it useful too. Let me know what you think and thank you for your support.

### 5/5 — Emotional Regulation

*2026-05-12*

I’ve been looking for a tool to help my kids better manage and regulate their emotions. This app, which serves as a prompt and resource for hand-written journaling, really helps kids to take a step back and consider what they can and cannot control; and ultimately how they can shift their perspective and stay in control of their emotions. The prompts are easy to understand and age appropriate. It’s also a great way to check in with your kids.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback and support!

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.0.1 — 2026-07-27

A new look, drawn from an old idea.
This update restyles the entire app to match the Founder’s Statement — parchment, classic type, and room to think. Same 52 questions. Same purpose. Quieter surroundings.
Also in this update:
— Every prompt now opens as its own full page. Tap to read, tap to close. — Printed journal pages now fit on a single sheet, every time. — The app now marks the next prompt for you, and quietly acknowledges milestones as you go. No confetti. No streaks. Just a word of recognition when you’ve earned it. — Smoother scrolling and layout fixes throughout.
This app remains a companion to a real notebook. Find your prompt here, then put the screen down and write by hand.
Thoughts and feedback are always welcome — littlestoicjournal@gmail.com or @littlestoicjournal.

### 1.1.3 — 2026-07-14

**What's New**

This update makes The Little Stoic easier to bring into a classroom or a kitchen table.

Every printed prompt now fits cleanly on a single page, no more spillover, no more wasted paper. And each journal now opens with a simple title page: a simple scene your child can color in to help bring ownership to their journal before they ever pick up a pen to write.

For teachers, that means a full set of ready-to-print prompts for a classroom, clean and consistent from the first page to the last. For families, it means a journal that starts with something to color, not just something to write, an easier way in for younger children.

Small changes. Same 52 weeks, same 2,000 years of thinking behind them.

### 1.1.2 — 2026-06-18

Three updates in this release.

Monthly Milestone Recognition. Complete four prompts and the journal acknowledges it. Not a badge, but a reflection. Each milestone surfaces a short, age-tiered Stoic prompt specific to the moment of pausing and noticing progress. My hope is that it will reinforce the reflective process for users of all age groups.

Improved PDF Export. The printed journal page now fits cleanly on a single Letter-size sheet — no overflow, no clipped lines. Print a prompt, hand it to a child, put the device away. That is the whole point.

Font Size Adjustment. Four sizes — Small, Default, Large, and Extra Large — available throughout the app. Set it once in Settings; it carries across every tab. No child (or adult!) should have to squint at a question worth thinking about.

No score to keep. No right order. One prompt per week, written by hand.
I really hope you are finding the Little Stoic Journal useful, please send me any thoughts for improvement. I want this to be the most beneficial tool for our kids as it can be.

### 1.1.1 — 2026-05-08

Version 1.1.1

Updates to the Little Stoic Journal
-A new section — A Note on Difficult Prompts — has been added to How to Use. It walks parents and educators through the questions that ask more of a child. What to say if a child gets stuck. When to sit beside them. When to close the journal and just talk. Hard is not the same as harmful. The section is plain about the difference.
-Year-end is here. When you reach Week 52 (or complete all the prompts) then what? That was the question from early users, so I answered it. You’ll find this section under “How to Use”.
-I hear you all about the font size and I’m actively trying to correct that. Sorry it still not adjusting as requested! Stay tuned!

All these updates come from real world feedback. If there’s something you’d like to see or isn’t working for you please reach out to littlestoicjournal@gmail.com. For now I hope you find the Little Stoic Journal useful and it helps stimulate conversations with your children!
