PLEASE NOTE: This app only contains information about the roads we manage in England. Other smaller roads in England are managed by local authorities. Trunk roads and motorways in Scotland are the responsibility of Transport Scotland; those in Wales of the Welsh Assembly Government. This App will use your current location to give you the traffic news when and where you need it. Plan your journey, reduce congestion, lower emissions and arrive safe and less frustrated. Official data is collected from thousands of vehicle monitors, CCTV and patrol reports to show where the Highways England network is flowing well and to keep you up-to-date with traffic incidents as they break throughout the day. The information covers unplanned incidents such as accidents and congestion, plus lane closures and other restrictions due to improvement works. Advance notice of future essential roadworks is given wherever possible. KEY FEATURES Search Allows the user to search for Incidents, current-road works and future road works, using 4 search options: Near You, Region, Motorway or A-Road. The facility to see all the events on all of Highways England Roads is included under ‘All of England’ Flow A new feature. This option provides a view of the traffic flow on any of the Motorways in England. The user can then tap a ‘view’ button to review the motorway junction to junction information in detail. The user can share information about any event of interest using the social media options on their phone. CCTV This allows the user to search and view any of the CCTV’s on the Highways England Network. A current still image is shown, the image can be updated after 1 minute. Routes The user can now input a route using location name, address or postcodes. This feature uses the Google route finder to identify the available routes and the route will be displayed on a Google Map. Notifications can be added for chosen routes. Review The review screen enables the user, when not driving, to review the status of a route. They can scroll the list of events or they can zoom the map in or out. Drive The user can drive with or without a planned route. When driving without a planned route the user will be informed about all the Highways England events on the roads around them. The most common approach is to drive with a route. Then the App will only show the known events on the Highways England roads along that route. ------------------------------------------ Your phone must be connected to the internet (mobile 3G/4G/GPRS or wireless) to access live traffic information. To use the location based features of the app, you must have a GPS enabled phone. Having access to the internet can greatly improve the accuracy and the time taken to get an accurate position. It can take several minutes in some conditions for your device to determine your position. If you are experiencing persistent location issues please contact our support team. Very poor in App navigation, information badly organised and impossible to plan or add to routes. If you give feedback within the App, you reach an end point that prevents you getting back into the App’s functionality - just left stuck, even if the App is closed! Complete waste of public money - Highways Agency operates just like the Post Office, with similar levels of competence & integrity. ### 2/5 — Good Info / Poor App *2023-10-07* Information within the app is very helpful, however the app itself is rubbish. Most obvious example… The ‘continue’ button on the message immediately after loading about not using it while driving, should not need 5 taps to proceed. Needs more work. Much like the roads Highways England claim to maintain really, so there’s consistency at least, in fairness to them! ### 1/5 — Do the authors use the app, or just don't care? *2023-10-07* Dire UI, hopelessly pointless routing (no means to re-route). Also, pictures from roadside CCTV are thoughtfully date- and time-stamped. Unfortunately you can't read the date-stamp because there's a Highways England logo plonked on top of it -so you've no idea if the picture you're looking at is today or last week! ### 1/5 — Very confusing *2023-08-31* Too difficult to find the information you need quickly with confusing options and lots of information that you probably don’t need. All you really want is to know where the hold ups are and how long the delay is ### 1/5 — Pretty poor app which isn’t user friendly *2022-11-08* The app is incorrectly named since highways England has been rebranded. I wanted to find delays on a motorway. But couldn’t work out as the app Is not intuitive. Why isn’t the app more like to website which quickly takes you to the information required. I’ve deleted this app. ### 1/5 — Terrible app *2022-09-27* Clunky layout lacks any kind of ergonomic thought, and the information is presented in an imprecise and unclear way. It would be so much easier to write in plain English that a road is closed between start time and end time, but the attempt at presenting information appears to be written in a bureaucratic manner attempting to be technical. Abysmally slow loading times too. ### 1/5 — No Good!! *2021-11-10* Been using for a few weeks now. Tells me when I leave work that my route is clear with no delays despite delays on at least four occasions in last two weeks alone including my 30 minute drive home tonight taking an hour and a half yet still showing no delays on my route. Deleted !!! ### 1/5 — Needs updating *2021-03-10* This app is utterly useless. It shows no delays on the A11 map view and junctions open when they are in reality closed. The current roadworks do show under the search tab but only to tell me there is work going on not that there is one lane open and a 40mph speed limit. Many of us rely on the A11 in Norfolk and regular updates are essential. ### 2/5 — No dark screen option *2020-11-26* The app works well when you set a route providing you adjust the settings, otherwise you get given info about roads you need to use.
