The auto shut down and start up is a great feature allowing the iPad photo frame to run stand alone. I would have preferred more transitions but that did not detract from my enjoyment of this product. I just 3d printed a really nice frame and added LiveFrame and could not be happier with how great it is. The app is smart enough to automatically pull the latest pics periodically and even is able to pause and dim the display late at night as my wife desires. [Many digital photo frames sync their photos through Asian servers]. With LiveFrame, I have been to easily display about 4,000 (> 14 GB) of photos in a slideshow across two Apple Photos shared albums. I can set: display time, two transition choices, when to update the albums online, photos resolution, fit-to-frame, display of time/date/weather. On the iPad, I had to change the settings for the Photos app to “Optimize iPad Storage” to prevent the app from hanging. ### 5/5 — iPad 2 into photo frame! *2024-09-02, version 1.11.17* Works very well on my old 32 GB iPad 2 running iOS 9.3.5! I am able to slideshow a shared iCloud Photos album with > 3,000 pictures. The shared album refreshes seamlessly after each slideshow cycle and any interim updates to the album are displayed automatically. My first load of > 1,000 pictures from iCloud took a few minutes, but subsequent album refreshes have taken < 1 minute. No videos play, but that’s fine. I have not found the ability to run background music, shuffle or reorder album pictures, change slideshow timing or adjust the onscreen date/time display—these might be there, but I haven’t found them. One also has the option of loading pictures from Dropbox, Google, etc. I have not yet seen the memory issue some others have reported: a need to clear device storage regularly. My device reports the app only using about 31 MB now after running continuously for a few days. $4.99 price beats >$100 for a dedicated digital picture frame that may or may not leak your photo album to the internet or Asia. ### 5/5 — Lovely apps and Amazing support *2023-10-06, version 1.11.17* Been using this app for almost 2 years on my old ipad.
