### 5/5 — Wow!

*2021-02-25*

This app is amazing. After 5 minutes of use, I knew I had to get a lifetime license. Works great on both my iphone and Mac. This will save me so much time. The accuracy of text from screen capture and camera is frightening in a good way.

### 5/5 — Possible tool for blind users.

*2021-02-20*

I'm looking forward to trying this app out to recognize text on labels, signs, etc. Will update soon. It would be nice to have handwriting recognition as that's difficult for me to see.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review. I am working on adding accessibility and additional features to assist with visual impairments. If you would like to beta test or give some feedback on these improvements, please email support@gentlemencoders.com.

### 5/5 — I have been wanting this for years

*2021-02-20*

I have had the need for exactly this app for years.

Suddenly I hear about it and I have already used it half a dozen times in one day for real!

Works seamlessly and fast. Zero mistakes that I have seen. Thanks to whomever developed this app, it's so rare to see new softwre that just does something you need. Poof!

### 5/5 — Amazing App!!

*2021-02-18*

How many times have you wished you could just take a picture of a flyer and auto magically call the phone number or go to the website? Well with this app you can!

The developer is very responsive and also has a great offer: whatever subscription you get on your iPhone isNot only available on all your devices but via family sharing all your families devices. We just bought the $9.99 lifetime subscription-WHAT a deal!

### 5/5 — Fantastic App - YES it works!

*2021-02-17*

How many times have you wanted to capture text or numbers from a flyer or other non-text document (yes, I mean phone numbers are ready to dial on your iPhone from a LiveScan snap!)

$9.99 for a Lifetime AND I get a iPhone/iPad app? Sold! I just put my money down!

### 5/5 — Impressive and private

*2021-02-17*

I’m amazed at what this app recognizes in so many different fonts, sizes and colors! (been pointing at things all over the house trying it out). Plus no external servers, and all processing done SO FAST right on the device. Powerful stuff, with no gross Google privacy invasion. Well done.

### 5/5 — Impressive, fast and private

*2021-02-17*

Incredibly quick at recognizing text in many fonts, colors, sizes, etc. Plus all done on my Mac, without any ugly Google privacy invasion. Amazing that this can be done without the need for external servers. I'll be using this constantly.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — so you basically couldn't program a way to close the installation window?

*2022-09-18*

1- it's not free
2- you made it impossible to close the installation window without restarting the machine.

worst app I've ever downloaded

**Developer response:** You are incorrect. 1- it is free to use for as long as you want, but it limits the length of the detection. 2- I did program a way to close the installer window. Just press Command-Q like any other app. You can also just start the free trial in the last screen, which does not require any sign up (and again, is free, no subscription to sign up for, etc.).

### 1/5 — no easy way to try

*2021-03-03, version 1.0*

to try it out, you need to sign up for the trial period. not gonna do that.

### 1/5 — Free???

*2021-02-28, version 1.0*

Don’t offer an app as free that you can’t use at all unless you subscribe.

### 3/5 — Makes a few errors

*2023-05-01*

This app seems to struggle somewhat with uppercase English text. When extracting text from a TIFF I noticed it tends to misread D or Q as "O", and VV as "W" or even "WV". Very occasionally gives "L" in place of I. If accuracy is important for your project be sure to give it a good proofreading before proceeding.

Still, it's frequently able to find text where Adobe Acrobat would fall flat on its face, so 3 stars for that.

### 5/5 — Flawless and SO EASY

*2021-11-23*

My hat off to the delelpor. This is so easy to use and saved me WAY more in the first use than what it cost. Now I can get a good nights sleep instead of dreaming about stupid numbers and letters!

### 5/5 — Absolutely amazing

### 5/5 — ★ ★★★★ Are you excited about Apple Live Text coming in iOS 15 this fall? Have it now!

*2021-06-08, version 1.0.4*

Are you excited about Apple Live Text coming in iOS 15 this fall? Have it now!

And from a developer that actually listens to its customers.

What a great feature to have on an iPhone or iPad.… and extra points for originality.

As with many things in life, reward the innovators, not the imitators.

### 5/5 — Highly recommend

*2021-05-27, version 1.0.4*

Great app, makes taking notes easier!

### 5/5 — Surprisingly useful

*2021-05-04*

I’m surprised at how often I’m using this app. Text images on Twitter, excerpts from books I’m reading, for my notes. Lovely, useful, and cross-platform to boot.

### 5/5 — Who knew?

*2021-05-04*

One of those does-one-thing-well apps. Very very well in this case. I'm surprised at how often I pull it up to scan a text image or something I'm citing from a book I'm reading. Nice to have it on all my platforms (so thanks also to Apple for making that easier than it has been in the past).

## Most praised reviews (4 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Awesome App, no faff - Thanks Gentleman Coders

*2021-04-07, version 1.0.3*

Accounting student here.

Spent the last hour trying to find an app that will let me convert my handwritten notes to text in a simple, quick, no faff way

Tried Msoft Lens and the Adobe scanning app which are both brilliant at producing beautiful scans but are expensive and only export to pdf and you need the Microsoft app or a one drive subscription before you can finally grab your bit of OCR’d text, basically a bunch of faff...

This app is unbelievably simple and quick to use

Was surprised at how well it picked up my handwritten notes, not perfectly but almost deffo down to my rushed handwriting

Tested it on my textbook at it picked up literally everything and had it available on my clipboard for me to drop into my notes app, no faff

Will keep using it for the rest of the week on the free subscription and will probs be purchasing the full version. Only £5.99 which seems pretty good value compared to the others options out there

### 5/5 — Great App

*2021-04-01, version 1.0.3*

Easy to use, helps me a lot when dealing with paperwork as sometimes the documents I get from clients are a bit unclear or difficult to take the information from.

### 5/5 — Well made and useful app

*2021-03-17, version 1.0.3*

Works well, gets text from screenshots or photos. On iPad you can say “Hey Siri take a screenshot” share to the app and select the text to recognise on the screen which is great for online presentations. 50 characters will be enough for a lot of people so it’s effectively free if that’s all you need.

### 5/5 — very responsive "gentlemanly" developer

*2021-03-06, version 1.0.2*

My initial experience was poor, but I contacted the developer, and he kindly gave me a lifetime subscription to get past a bug which caused the app to consider my 7-day trial expired before I even got to try it the morning after downloading it.

The app is straightforward to use, and very handy if you have a need to convert text images to OCR. I am for now giving it a 4 star rating on the hope that the bug will be addressed, and that he won't go broke giving away free licenses.
