Lately I’ve been getting ads that are impossible to close on the app. Why pay for something that I can’t use? The random ads make it unusable. Considering I pay for it? It feels as if this app has been abandoned. However, using it with ads is so disruptive that it’s basically torture. When the app works, it is useful, and notifications seem to be active. Stealing my money. ### 1/5 — Liveuamap has fallen *2025-03-08, version 3.0.61* I’ve used Liveuamap since 2018. For the first few years it was good, then near the start of the Ukraine war, it went to garbage. The information started to become less and less accurate, with most of the information being from state media on twitter. Sometimes they will report that ‘Ukraine has repelled an attack’ in areas that Ukraine hasn’t controlled for days, as evident by Ukrainian sourced videos with geolocation! I would recommend laying off of the state run media and maybe broaden your horizons and pay more attention to sources in the ground/geolocate things for yourself. The ads became a thing; I understand, company has to make money. But the ads have become quite frequent, and I would pay a one time fee to get rid of them but subscription is absolutely ridiculous for the quality of this app. Lastly, the map has had issues for a long time, issues with zooming out not working, and the colors showing territorial control being messed up. ### 1/5 — Waste of time *2025-03-07, version 3.0.61* It has 200 ads in 2 minutes which never let you watch news. For example, sometimes you get stuck on a zoomed in portion. Reloading the app fixes it fine, though. Recent updates have really improved the map. Before, I could only see Russian advance, but now I can see Ukrainian counteroffensive too. The only other problem is ads. They are a bit annoying. You just have to wait them out. There come around often but not often enough to be a nuisance. I would have preferred border ads. Kills the aesthetic, but much less annoying. The Wikipedia approach of asking for donations would be ideal but, given the small user base, that may be impossible.
