## What is Loam?

Know if your local trails are rideable before you go.

Loam models the dirt itself: how much rain fell, how fast that soil drains, how much sun and wind the slope has had since, and how much canopy is holding the moisture in. No crowdsourced reports to wait on, and no account to make.

THE VERDICT, NOT THE DATA

Open the app and you get one word per trail network. PRIME means go. CAUTION means think about it. STAY OFF means you would be doing damage. DUSTY means rideable but blown out and loose.

You can dig into the numbers if you want them. Most days you will not need to.

WHAT IT KNOWS

Close to 1,500 trail networks across the US and Canada, each with its own soil type, slope, aspect, elevation and tree cover. Two networks an hour apart can dry days apart, and Loam accounts for that instead of treating a whole region as one number.

RIDE THE WINDOW

Conditions move fast after a storm. Every network shows seven days of precipitation history, a five day outlook, and how the last couple of weeks have trended, so you can watch the window open instead of hearing about it after it shut.

This app is awesome! Super accurate and provides real-time track and trail conditions. I’ve tested it a few time and it’s been spot on every time. I also learned of a few new places I never knew about. I highly recommend this app to any person not wanting to waste a trip to ride, only to find out the conditions aren’t very good.

### 1.5.0 — 2026-08-23

Fixed an update bug that could quietly leave the app days behind. If Loam
recently looked or behaved like it was stuck a week in the past, that was
this, and force quitting or reinstalling would not have cleared it. It is
resolved.

The post-ride check-in has a new answer: perfect, tacky hero dirt. Use it
when the trail was better than merely rideable. Rider answers are what we
check the model against, so that one is worth the tap.

### 1.3.0 — 2026-07-31

DUSTY is a new verdict. A green light plus an active dry advisory used to read as PRIME, which sent riders out to blown out, loose dirt and called it perfect. Now it says DUSTY, and the gauge says what that means. Tester feedback drove this one.

Also in this release: Loam links from a message or the web now open straight to the trail in the app, a new splash screen, a smoother first run, and the usual round of speed and stability work.

This update brings smarter alerts and a more polished trail view.

• Smarter ride alerts. When several of your trails turn prime at once, you now get one clean notification instead of a stack of them, with quiet overnight hours and a daily limit so you are not pinged at 2am.
• Fixed false "prime" alerts. Overnight dew and fog could briefly make a dry trail read as freshly dry the next morning and fire a bogus alert. Now a notification means a real change.
• Condition history. Each trail shows its recent condition trend, so you can see how the last couple of weeks have gone at a glance.
• Cleaner trail list. Removed duplicate networks so search results are tidier.
• Stability and reliability improvements under the hood.
