Also to get things to speak to them you have to watch ads. Terrible. ### 1/5 — Sadly, this is an awful app *2025-08-07* I’ve recently downloaded this as I have a new bed frame coming soon, and my current bed frame is still in good condition so a friend recommended I give it away via Freecycle. When I tried to create a user account, I was gobsmacked at how poor this app is. Location (as in council area) is one of the mandatory fields, but the app doesn’t list my borough, and it doesn’t let you type it in manually either, so I’ve had to choose a neighbouring borough. The list from which I had to choose is ludicrous - the boroughs, districts, city council areas that are in the list are all haphazardly mixed up - there’s no order to the list, not even basic alphabetical order! I soldiered through and created an account, albeit one with an incorrect location for me. And then I tried to view a few listings to see what sort of thing I should write about my bed frame. The reason I say I tried to view them is because sadly I was unsuccessful, owing to the fact that when I tried to view a listing, I got a full-screen pop-up advertisement instead. And there was no way to close the advertisement, so I had to close the whole app! Anyway, after three attempts, I’ve given up. Clearly Freecycle doesn’t want me to use it. I simply couldn’t engineer an app that was better designed to put people off using it than this one. There are a lot of poor apps out there, but so far this is the single worst app I’ve ever tried to use. ### 1/5 — Clearly has major problems *2025-07-01* Just getting adverts unrelated to freecycle. ### 1/5 — Terrible *2025-06-28* Don’t waste your time. Premium needed unless you want to gamify ur way to get credits in order to be able to message people. The massive counties list is in a random order so takes forever to find correct one, when you do the city option is blank which renders the whole thing pointless. Such a simple thing - shame they haven’t made it easy/usable. ### 1/5 — Unusable *2025-05-24* Not used this site in years and come back to ad central. You need to watch an add for every listing you want to click on and view, you need to watch adds to get credits to message users. Terrible attempt and monetisation. Safe to say I not going to use it. ### 1/5 — what happened to freecycle *2025-05-15* used to swap so many unwanted items with people in my local area on here. idk who has taken over and redesigned this app/business model but it’s pants. can’t even properly view the items before you get sick of watching ads, let alone watching more just to message about it, when it might not even be available anymore anyway. such a shame. also why do i have to enter my country every time i want to explore a nearby borough? regions and boroughs all mixed up in the area dropdown, takes years to find your area if you’re anywhere past D in the alphabet. ### 1/5 — Rubbish! *2025-05-09* App shows me ads and they won’t even show me the product posting. Turns out you have to earn credits to message people, and you have to watch ads to earn credits. I literally just gave £30 away for nothing. Only to find out it was going to charge me $29.99 for the year. But I did get a one week free subscription. I’m done. I’m not bothering with this.. This is supposed to be something free or I can either get rid of things or get other things for free. Remember free? ### 1/5 — Scam? *2026-01-07* Ok I live in SWFL but was shown things cross country and no way to enter in a city.. what use is that? Also every item you view if you are interested is hit with an ad. So the app also prompts you to pay to use it but if you do not agree then it’s free? Apparently the app runs off of ads but you need to sign up for 3.99 a MONTH??? The location of each item is so ambiguous you will never know if anything is even near you cause yeah you’re in FL but that item is probably on the other end of the state. I was immediately charged £3.99 and the subscription failed to implement in the app so I am still unable to message sellers despite having paid the fee. There is no customer service or help button. I managed to find a contact email and have emailed explaining the situation but received no response or support. I’m very disappointed as I was looking forward to using this app. ### 1/5 — Not actually Freecycle? *2025-12-10* Looks it's just 'freecycling' the name for downloads.
