## What is Local Link?

Found it on Google Maps, but can't get there?

In Korea, Google Maps gets you to the nearest subway station. The last walk to the door usually needs Naver Map or KakaoMap, and those apps match Korean names. Local Link turns the name you know into the Korean search text and opens it in Naver Map or KakaoMap in one tap.

Beyond Korea, Local Link does the same for China (Amap), Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and Macau: type a place name any way you know it, get local-script candidates, and open the map app that works best there.

【Core】

• Type it any way you know
Phonetic, Romanized, local script, and spelling variants become candidates automatically.

• Open regional map apps faster
Choose a country and city once, then send the best search text to the map app used for that region.

• 2,800+ pre-registered place aliases across 8 countries
Stations, landmarks, markets, malls, chain stores, airports, ferries, and bus terminals.

• 5 languages
Korean · English · Japanese · Chinese (Simplified) · Chinese (Traditional)

• iCloud sync
Saved places and recent searches sync automatically across devices on the same Apple ID.

• iPhone + iPad universal
All devices. Light and dark mode automatic.

• 100% on-device
No server. No account. No ads. No tracking. No location permission required.

【Best for】

• Finding places you saw on Google Maps or social media in Naver Map and KakaoMap
• Finding places in Korea, China, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and Macau
• Turning heard or Romanized names into local-script search candidates
• Saving useful travel searches and reopening them later
• Adding country and city context to avoid wrong search results

【Support】

Regions: Korea · China · Taiwan · Japan · Thailand · Vietnam · Hong Kong · Macau
Cities: 29 destinations including Seoul, Busan, Jeju, Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Taipei, Kaohsiung, Shanghai, Beijing, Chengdu, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Ho Chi Minh, Hanoi, Hong Kong, and Macau

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.1.0 — 2026-10-19

New: Google Maps link → walking route.
Paste a place link from Google Maps and Local Link opens the walking route in Naver Map or KakaoMap — no Korean name needed for the last walk from the station to the door. In China it hands off to Amap; elsewhere to Google Maps or Apple Maps.

• Paste a map link with one tap on the Search screen, or paste it straight into the search field
• Reads the place name, location, and country from the link, and shows local-script names when we know them
• Save walking routes and reopen them later
• Fixed searches breaking when the place name contained symbols like &, +, or /
• Bottom tabs and screen headers no longer get cut off at larger text sizes

### 1.0.2 — 2026-08-17

We greatly expanded place coverage — more stations, airports, restaurants, and landmarks now match however you type them.
Plus small refinements and stability improvements.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-06-14
