The developer has been amazingly generous in making the app available gratis to anybody who wants or has a need to privately track their adventures in life. The app itself is high quality - it just works, it is simple, it’s intuitive, the developer did a nice job in all respects in terms of programming and ux. I’ve been using it for about two years now and this morning as I went to refresh myself on where I went on a given day last week it struck me that - this is awesome - reminds me of the early days of the App Store, and even early computing. So so rare these days, and I though you know what I need to share this via a review, and in the hopes the dev sees it - in which case I just want to say: Thank You, you are the best of us. ### 5/5 — Simple & Crisp App *2025-10-02, version 2.9* Gets the job done without leaking your data with zero adverts ! All GPS apps use a lot of power but this one uses it efficiently. I have been using it for 6 months daily and it has never let me down, never crashed. Exporting data is simple and seamless and the data is tiny. Like I said ‘it does what it says on the tin’. I use the app to create GPX logging files when I’m out with my Nikon cameras. One (a Z9) has a built in and pretty dependable GPS, but the other (a Nikon Z50 II) requires a Bluetooth link to Nikon’s SnapBridge program on a smartphone which is unreliable and drains both the camera and smartphone battery quickly. With this app, I can just synchronize phone and camera times once before shooting for the day, and then use the free EXIFTOOL program on my Mac (downloaded through homebrew) to add location tags to all my photos at the end of the day. It’s 100% reliable, doesn’t impact the camera battery at all, and doesn’t cause any significant drain on my phone battery. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! ### 5/5 — Excellent App *2024-11-28, version 2.7* Just an excellent app for travel that does not share your location outside of your device, except stored as part of your iCloud backup. Battery use is minimal on my iPhone 14 Pro Max so I just turn it on when leaving for a trip and turn it off when returning home. Turning it on is on travel checklist along with putting thermostats in away mode so I don’t forget. I have used this logger for several trips now, recently including Copenhagen, Bergen, and then a cruise stopping in Greenland and Iceland and it’s great to be able to retrace my streps after getting home. I am able to overlay the GPX track log over the GPS photo info recorded by my camera in Lightroom and fill the location gaps between the photos. I do have trouble getting the time stamps on the waypoints to match up to the local timestamps in the photos without editing the GPX files to fix up the times. Still trying to figure out the best way to do this as Lightroom does have a track offset function but it doesn’t remember it between sessions and it’s not very useful for trips across multiple time zones with just a single GPX file. I believe that this is really a Lightroom problem, of course, and not a fault of this app. The Lightroom map module has other bugs I’ve reported to no avail so work-arounds are needed. So this is a wonderful app—indispensable for world travelers. Don’t hesitate to get it. ### 5/5 — Easy, flexible, reliable *2024-11-26, version 2.7* A basic but reliable “always on” GPS tracker. Tried to use most recent version of Google Maps Timeline, but it was difficult to get data out of Google and map it. This supports GPX format and JSON and easy to export and import. Runs in background and uses minimal battery. Does not store data in cloud. Very good. ### 5/5 — Great App! *2024-11-17, version 2.7* Ever wonder which day you went wherever to do whatever? This app, running in the background at all times, will tell you! You can set the logging frequency to anything from 1 minute to 1 hour. I have found that even every minute doesn’t use significant battery on my 14 Pro Max. ### 5/5 — App works well *2024-11-06* This app logs my location privately. It runs in the background and barely uses any battery. You do not have to have the app running once you enable background logging. Well done! **Developer response:** Thank you for your kind review. To answer your question: ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ 🫤 To explain: ‘Yes’, the app needs to be running in the background for it to work (it doesn’t need to be in the ‘foreground’ - I.e. you can use other apps while it’s in the background, or lock your phone, but just don’t ‘quit’ / ‘kill’ the app by swiping up on it in the app switcher). Having said that, ‘No’, because even if the app ISN’T running in the background (say if it has been ‘killed’ or you have restarted your phone e) , once you have moved by a significant amount (approx 500 meters) the app will *automatically* launch itself into the background anyway. I think it would be nice if there was a 12 hour format option. I also think it would be great if there was an option to make the log encrypted from the user Where they can't delete certain logs and give a little more validity in informal situations. ### 4/5 — Works well when GPS is accurate *2023-07-10, version 2.3* I use this app to track which railway/tram tracks I’ve been on. I appreciate the “stored locally” approach very much. It works well with trams and regional trains but on fast trains the signal isn’t good so no positions get logged for hours despite low logging interval and app restarts. When I manually check, my position is shown as a larger circle instead of a dot and just doesn’t get accurate enough to turn into the dot. I think that’s the reason why it doesn’t log sometimes? Maybe a slider to set minimum accuracy for logging (like the logging interval slider) could help? Another feature idea: Additional setting for a temporary logging interval, so you can set the interval temporarily to 30 s for 2 hours for example: A dropdown or smth to set the time frame, plus a slider for the temporary interval time that can even go below 1 min (like 10 seconds?) ### 5/5 — Great App!! *2026-03-17, version 2.11* Just wanted to say what a great app. It’s been excellent to help me with my work hours. One suggestion that I think would be a massive improvement as if you could add subtle directional arrows every 20 or 30 m so that you can more easily follow your trajectory. I hope that helps and I really hope that you might implement this suggestion. The map pins blot out the detail on the map when zoomed out.
