## What is Lockscreen Languages?

Lockscreen Languages puts a word from the language you're learning on your Lock Screen, with its English translation under it. You see it whenever you pick up your phone. An hour later there is a different word.

There are no lessons and no notifications. You pick a language, add the widget, and the words come to you.

ON THE LOCK SCREEN
- A rectangle with the word and its translation.
- A single line above the clock with the word and its translation.
- A small circle with the word alone.

ON THE HOME SCREEN
- Small, medium and large widgets.
- The large one adds an example sentence and its translation.
- The medium and large ones have buttons for "Next word" and "I know this".
- Tap any widget to open the app on the same word.

IN THE APP
- Hear the word spoken with the voices built into iOS.
- Read an example sentence for every word, with its English translation.
- Browse and search the whole list for your language.
- Mark a word "I know this" and it stops showing up. You can bring it back in Settings.
- Set how often the word changes: every 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes, or every 1, 2 or 4 hours.
- Light or dark, or follow the system.

PRACTICE MODE
This is optional and off when you install. Turn it on in Settings and the app and the Home Screen widgets hide the translation until you tap Reveal. Then you answer "Got it" or "Again". A word you got comes back after 1 day, then 3, 7, 21 and 50 days. A word you missed comes back in 4 hours. Practice mode doesn't change the Lock Screen widgets.

LANGUAGES
Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin, simplified characters), Dutch, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazilian), Russian, Spanish and Swedish.

Each list has between 972 and 1,229 common words. Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew, Hindi, Japanese, Korean and Russian show a pronunciation in Latin letters next to each word. Every translation is in English.

WHAT IT DOESN'T DO
- No account and no sign-in.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking.
- No internet connection. The word lists are inside the app and your progress stays on your phone.
- It does not teach grammar and it will not make you fluent. It keeps common words in front of you.
