This is really helpful for iPhone capture projects. There is some bugs sometimes depending on the codec and format you are using that makes the app a bit unstable. There is another thing that can be annoying also but I don’t know if this problem is depending on the phone you are using. I have an iPhone 16 and when I shoot images and want to free up some space I need to clear the files on a computer. If I delete clips directly from the app folder on the phone, clips disappear but memory is not affected. I then need to delete and reinstall the app to clear the space. It is a bit problematic when you are shooting in exterior and you’re not able to use a computer. I’d love to see an option for oversampled HD output, preferably still with the open gate coverage! That would be a huge win in file size when doing vlogs and travel content. However I would absolutely love to see 1080p ProRes log as resolution options. Storage is an extremely expensive good nowadays and those 4k videos chop through my storages like nothing! There is also this issue of non-stop shutter sound on my Xs, which was not present before, it also happens when I click the "eye" icon (my Xs is Japanese variant, if that matters). Recording failing after 1 or 2 sec. After trying many parameters, I found out that stab off solved the issue. But the idea behind this potential great app is to be able to film anytime I don’t have my video gear. I don’t plan to use my iPhone with gimbal or tripod. As for the lag in the preview/monitor, this is explained in the "How to" page in the app. The frames cannot be captured when auto-focus is in progress (the same reason why auto-focus is disabled when recording) - if you turn on manual focus, you should see that the preview works perfectly. This app unlocked some quality I did not know my phone had. Saved me from getting an upgrade or a camera. It doesn’t get any better than that. The UI is a far cry from something like mavis camera. There’s no exposure comp, audio meters, etc. And the cherry on top is that there’s no autofocus during recording. But what you get in return for all of that is the cleanest open gate image you’ll ever get on your iPhone and a whole hoist of features that simply makes me giddy. The fact that HEVC 444 is here, plus gyroflow, and that you can customize the bitrate and set the whole thing to slog 3 if you wanna match with your Sonys - mwah. Chefs kiss. Developer you’re definitely a camera nerd and I salute you for doing something so audacious for iOS. I bought the subscription and I’m leaving you a five star because I hope you continue this project, it seems like it’s in early days. Some feature requests: Auto exposure compensation slider Metering modes (wishful thinking) Being able to choose drop frame or non drop frame on 24 and 30 fps modes And the biggest thing that’s stopping me from recommending this the most - autofocus during recording Godspeed ### 5/5 — Shooting log on my iPhone 17 *2026-06-30* The app is worth every penny live that it’s not subscription based And the fact that I can record on log on base iPhone is just mind blowing Woukd love if auto focus worked though as most times I shoot talking head alone And if you’re shooting indoor make sure you increase your brightness very well and reduce iso if not you’ll get too much noise on your footage ### 5/5 — The only app which captures true log *2026-06-26* As far as im concerned this is the only app in App Store that can shoot log video for the base and older iphones .. even though other apps offer it, its just desaturated and less contrast video footage and u can’t color grade it, this is actual workable footage, i can even use my iphone as a b cam as i can shoot in slog3 which is what im using on my sony main camera, as my iphone is base 13 and kinda old with terrible battery i believe i am limited to using 24fps and hevc 420 or prores because anything higher would crash the video recording, i am absolutely impressed with the app and grateful for the developer to figure this out, just one humble request is to make the shutter speed and iso appear on the main front viewfinder maybe like a slider or so that i can easily adjust is while maintaining full view of what i am about to shoot, i was thinking of upgrading to a pro iPhone but now after this app i can set that thought aside for a while.. --- *Data collected daily from the US App Store and indexed by [AppsHunter](https://appshunter.io/).
