## What is LogBooklet?

LogBooklet is a journal that notes the time and the place for you. Open a booklet, write a line or add a photo, a video, or a voice recording, and send it. The entry keeps its date, its time, and where you were.

Keep as many booklets as you like: one for a trip, one for walks with the dog, one for the garden, one for the thing you keep meaning to track. The list shows each booklet's latest entry, when it was, and how many entries it holds.

WRITE IT DOWN FAST

- Type in the field at the bottom of a booklet and send with one tap.
- Take a photo or video or choose one from your library, add a caption if you like, and send it. What you take in LogBooklet is also saved to the Photos app, which you can turn off.
- Record a voice note with pause and resume, and play it back on any of your devices.
- Log where you are as an entry of its own, shown on a map in the booklet.
- Save what you log often as a snippet. A tap logs it, or inserts it into what you are typing if you prefer. A snippet can belong to one booklet or be offered in all of them.
- Text you typed but did not send stays in that booklet as a draft and syncs to your other devices.

SEE WHEN AND WHERE

- Each entry records the date, the time, and your coordinates if you allow location access.
- A booklet can show how long ago its last entry was and how much time passed between two entries.
- Search the entries of a booklet.
- Change an entry later. Edit its text, its photo, video, or recording, its time, or its place on a map, or move it to another booklet. Touch and hold an entry to copy, edit, or delete it.

APPLE WATCH

- Create a booklet, write an entry, log a snippet, record audio, or log where you are from your wrist, and see your photos and play videos and recordings there.
- The watch app works without your iPhone. It saves offline and syncs through iCloud.
- Put Quick Entry, Booklet Summary, or Log Snippet on your watch face or in the Smart Stack.
- Double Tap sends an entry or logs a snippet on supported models, and a control fits the Action button on Apple Watch Ultra.
- Start on the watch and finish on iPhone or iPad with Handoff.

WIDGETS AND CONTROLS

- Five widgets for iPhone and iPad: Quick Entry, Booklet Summary, Log Snippet, Booklets, and Recent Entries. Several come in Lock Screen sizes.
- New Entry, Open Booklet, and Log Snippet for Control Center, the Lock Screen, and the iPhone Action button.

SIRI AND SHORTCUTS

- Say "Log in Food with LogBooklet" or "What is my last entry in Food in LogBooklet".
- The Shortcuts app has an action for everything the app does, including logging a photo, video, recording, or location, and exporting. Actions run without opening the app, so they work in automations.
- Give a booklet a Siri name when its title is an emoji.

SHARE SHEET

- Save text, web links, photos, and videos from other apps into a booklet without leaving the app you are in.

YOUR DATA

- Entries are stored on your device and sync between your devices through your private iCloud account. Photos, videos, and recordings stay in your iCloud and download to a device only when you open them.
- No account, no purchases, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking. The app uses Apple frameworks only and never connects to a server run by the developer.
- Export a booklet as a Markdown file to read or a JSON file for your own scripts. A booklet with photos, videos, or recordings comes as a folder with its files, and Settings exports every booklet at once in one ZIP archive.

## Key features

- Time and location stamping for entries
- Organize entries into topic-based booklets
- Searchable entry history
- Editable entry data
- Export entries as Markdown text files
- iCloud sync across devices

### 5/5 — A Great App for Logging Entries!

*2024-07-30*

I was in search for an app in which I could log entries by time and date. This app not only does that, but it also can track precisely where the entry was made. I don’t make many reviews, but in this case, this is an app that is perfect and fits my needs. If I could make a donation to the developer, I would. Fantastic work!

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.1 — 2026-10-31

- Entries can now be photos. Tap the plus button beside the text field to take or choose one, add a caption if you like, and send it. In its entry you can open the photo full screen to zoom in or share it, or replace it. Photos you take are also saved to the Photos app, which you can turn off in Settings. LogBooklet keeps its own copy in your iCloud, at most 2048 pixels and without the original's location and camera details, and your other devices download it only when you open its entry.
- Entries can now be videos, taken or chosen from the plus button, with a caption if you like. The booklet shows the first frame and length, and the entry plays the video full screen. LogBooklet keeps a copy of at most 1080p without the original's location and camera details, and videos you take are also saved to the Photos app unless you switch that off.
- Share a photo or a video from the Photos app or any other app to LogBooklet to log it in a booklet, with the shared text as its caption.
- Entries can now be audio recordings. Choose Record Audio from the plus button, pause and resume as often as you like, and send it. On iPhone it keeps recording when you leave the app, shown in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen, and a call pauses it. The booklet shows its waveform and length. In the entry, touch or drag the waveform to move through the recording, use Open in Preview to play or share it, or Replace Recording to record a new one. Your other devices download a recording only when you play it.
- Settings shows how much space downloaded photos, videos, and recordings take and can remove them, since they stay in iCloud, and how many are waiting to upload and why.
- Log Location in the plus button's menu logs where you are as an entry of its own, which the booklet shows as a map. You can correct the place later.
- On Apple Watch, photo and video entries show their picture, and a video plays from its entry.
- On Apple Watch, a booklet has Snippets, Record Audio, and Log Location buttons below New Entry, and audio entries play and can be scrubbed along their waveform.
- New Shortcuts actions log photos, videos, audio, and locations and get an entry's media. Edit Log Entry can replace it. Ask Siri to log your location.
- When an entry arrives from another device, Apple Watch, or a shortcut while you are reading further down a booklet, the entries on screen stay where they are.
- A new entry slides in at the top of its booklet.
- Search in a long booklet keeps up with your typing and updates the results when you pause.
- On iPhone Duo, LogBooklet uses the whole inner display, and its toolbar buttons sit in the bar beside your entries.
- Touch and hold an entry to copy its text, photo, video, or recording, edit it, or delete it.
- Export Booklet now offers JSON as well as Markdown, listing every entry with its kind, text, time, coordinates, media file, and length for scripts and other apps. The Export Booklet action in Shortcuts has a Format option.
- A booklet with photos, videos, or recordings is exported as a folder with its file and a media folder, downloading what is not on the device first. In Shortcuts, switch on Include Photos, Videos, and Recordings to get it as a ZIP archive.
- Export All Booklets in Settings saves every booklet as Markdown or JSON in one ZIP archive, and so does the new Export All Booklets action in Shortcuts.
- An export shows its progress with a Cancel button and keeps going when you switch apps, with its progress on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. If it cannot finish, for example because storage is full, LogBooklet tells you why. The export actions in Shortcuts show their progress too.
- On Apple Watch, each entry in a booklet shows the day of the week next to its date.
- On Apple Watch, a booklet with Show Time Between Entries switched on shows how long ago its last entry was and the time between its entries.
- When you have no booklets yet, the list tells you how to create your first one.

### 2.0 — 2026-10-10

LogBooklet 2.0 puts your booklets on Apple Watch, in widgets and Control Center, in Siri and Shortcuts, and in the share sheet.

APPLE WATCH

- LogBooklet is now on Apple Watch. Create a booklet, write an entry, or log a snippet from your wrist.
- Read your entries with their date and time, how long ago they were, and a map of where you logged them.
- The watch app works without your iPhone. It saves offline and syncs through your private iCloud database.
- Add Quick Entry, Booklet Summary, and Log Snippet to your watch face or Smart Stack. Smart Stack buttons log a snippet with one tap.
- Add controls for a new entry, a booklet, or a snippet, including on the Apple Watch Ultra Action button.
- Double Tap sends an entry or logs a snippet on supported models.
- Start on the watch and finish on iPhone or iPad. Drafts sync between your devices, and Handoff continues a booklet, a draft, or an entry.
- Location is optional on the watch. An entry saves without coordinates when no recent location is available.

WIDGETS AND CONTROLS

- Five widgets for iPhone and iPad: Quick Entry continues a booklet's draft, Booklet Summary shows its latest activity, Log Snippet saves a pinned snippet with one tap, and Booklets and Recent Entries give an overview of the booklets you choose.
- Widgets come in compact Lock Screen sizes and larger iPad sizes. Their text follows your system privacy settings, on Apple Watch too.
- Put New Entry, Open Booklet, and Log Snippet in Control Center, on the Lock Screen, or on the iPhone Action button. For a snippet, choose a booklet first, then one of its snippets or a global one.
- Controls ask you to unlock your device. Logging a snippet from a control leaves your draft untouched, and saves without coordinates when the app has no recent location.

SIRI AND SHORTCUTS

- Everything LogBooklet can do is now an action in the Shortcuts app: log entries and snippets, find, edit, move and delete entries, manage booklets and snippets, read and write drafts, and export a booklet as Markdown.
- Actions run without opening the app, so they work in automations. When you do want the app, the Open Booklet Composer action takes you straight to a booklet's text field.
- Ask Siri: "Log in Food with LogBooklet", "What is my last entry in Food in LogBooklet", "Log Left home with LogBooklet", "Open Food in LogBooklet", "Export Food from LogBooklet", or "Create a booklet in LogBooklet".
- Settings has a new "What to Say to Siri" screen that lists the phrases with your own booklets filled in.
- Give a booklet Siri names in its options. A booklet whose title is an emoji then has a name you can say.
- The same actions and phrases work on Apple Watch. Siri, controls, and widgets take you directly to the watch screen you asked for.
- When an action doesn't supply a location, LogBooklet uses your location from the past minute if it has one.

SHARE SHEET

- Save text and web links from other apps through the share sheet. Edit the text, choose a booklet, and save without leaving the app you are in.
- LogBooklet remembers the booklet you last shared to and adds your location when available.

ALSO IN THIS VERSION

- When you edit an entry's location, a new button beside the place search centers the map on where you are. Confirm the map position before it is saved to the entry.
- A long list of snippets now scrolls while the snippet sheet is half open, instead of the whole sheet moving. Drag the handle at the top to open it fully.
- In snippet management, the title scrolls away with the list, and the buttons at the top stay readable over the snippets beneath them.
- A booklet needs a title. Done stays off until you enter one.

LogBooklet 2.0 requires iOS 27 or iPadOS 27 on iPhone and iPad, and watchOS 27 on Apple Watch.

### 1.8 — 2026-09-22

- A new input bar sits at the bottom of every booklet: one text field that grows as you write, a send button, and a snippets button beside it.
- Snippets open in a sheet. A new booklet setting decides what tapping one does: add the entry and close the sheet, add it and keep the sheet open, or insert its text where you are writing.
- Whatever you type but haven't sent yet stays in each booklet, even after you close the app, and syncs to your other devices so you can finish it there.
- Drag the entries or the text field down to put the keyboard away.
- The booklet list shows more of each booklet: the start of its latest entry, when that entry was written and how long ago, and how many entries the booklet holds. Each booklet's options can switch off the preview, the count, or both. A booklet whose name starts with an emoji shows it as a large icon beside the name.
- Opening an entry shows how long ago it was, below its date and time.
- With "Show Time Between Entries" switched on, the time between two entries now sits on the line that separates them, and the top of the booklet shows when the last entry was, as plain text instead of badges.
- Closing an editor with unsaved changes, with the X or by swiping it down, now asks before throwing the changes away. Editors close with the X and save with the checkmark.
- The "Input Order" setting is gone, since there is only one input now.

### 1.7 — 2026-08-18

- Entry text now uses the full width of the row when "Show Time Between Entries" is turned on.

### 1.6 — 2025-10-07

- New: You can now set the input order individually for each booklet.
- New: The booklet edit screen now displays the time of the oldest and most recent entry.
- Changed: All booklet options have been consolidated into the edit screen.
- Changed: In the snippet input, section titles are only shown when both global and booklet snippets are available.
