## What is Logge?

Logge turns your iPhone or iPad into a complete ship's log – built for use on the water.

On board
Create a voyage in seconds and start logging right away. Every log entry records GPS position, course, speed (kn), wind force (Beaufort), wind direction, sea state, visibility, air pressure, water depth, water temperature, sail setting and engine status. GPS data is filled in automatically.

Over a Wi-Fi connection (TCP or UDP), Logge connects to compatible chart plotters and NMEA multiplexers – position, course over ground, speed, wind, water depth and temperature go straight into every log entry.

Boat & manoeuvres
Choose sailing boat or motorboat – the forms show only the relevant fields. Quick actions for tack, gybe, reef, engine, anchor and more create pre-filled log entries. Automatic course-change detection suggests an entry as soon as your course changes noticeably. Air pressure is read from the iPhone barometer – even offline – with a trend arrow on every entry. Ports are suggested automatically, and every field shows its source (GPS, NMEA, weather, barometer).

Track recording
Logge records your route in the background – even with the screen off. Recording interval and GPS accuracy are freely adjustable. The route map shows automatic waypoints and manual log entries, colour-coded by speed: log points are tappable, ports are marked, and an overview shows all voyages.

Voyage review & statistics
Every completed voyage shows total distance, distance under sail and under engine, average and top speed, plus a wind rose, a weather history and the share under sail. The statistics tab sums up nautical miles, days at sea, engine hours, records and favourite ports – with a bar chart per month, a personal annual goal in nautical miles and filters by vessel and year.

Export, backup & organisation
Export your complete logbook as a PDF in A4 landscape with a print margin for punching and filing, or each voyage's route as a GPX track for Navionics, OpenCPN and other apps. Back up your logbook to a file and restore it at any time – restoring merges instead of overwriting, so nothing is lost. Single voyages can be handed on as a file, to a co-skipper or to a second device. With Logge Pro you can bring GPX tracks from your chart plotter back into a voyage and export log entries as a CSV table for Excel or Numbers. Keep a crew list per voyage – it appears in the voyage details and is printed in the PDF. Voyages are grouped and filtered by month, vessel profiles are saved and pre-filled automatically.

On iPad
The logbook uses the full width: voyage list and voyage details side by side, the map with an inspector column for the voyage you tapped, statistics as a tile grid. With a keyboard attached you create voyages and log entries by shortcut, and GPX files can be dropped straight onto the voyage list.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.7 — 2026-08-08

What's new in version 1.7:

• Backup: save your complete logbook to a file and restore it – restoring merges instead of overwriting, so nothing is lost
• Share single voyages: export one voyage as a file and import it on another device or hand it to a co-skipper – including log entries, route and vessel
• iPad redesigned: voyage list and details side by side, map with inspector column, statistics as a tile grid, keyboard shortcuts for new voyage, new log entry, export and search, pointer support and GPX files by drag & drop

New in Logge Pro:

• GPX import: bring a track from your chart plotter, Navionics or OpenCPN into a voyage – into an existing one or as a new voyage, with duplicate points detected
• CSV export: all log entries of a voyage as a table for Excel, Numbers and your own analysis

Plus minor bug fixes and stability improvements.

### 1.6 — 2026-07-27

What's new in version 1.6:

• Watch system: set a watch interval per voyage (off, 1h, 2h, 4h or custom), log watch changes with a crew picker in one tap
• Log reminder: get notified if no entry has been logged for a set number of hours (configurable in Settings)
• Course-change detection is now configurable: send a notification or auto-create a log entry

New in Logge Pro:

• Yearbook export: your whole season as a PDF — cover page, statistics page, every voyage logbook and a combined map in one document
• Polar/trim analysis: average speed by wind strength and angle to the wind, shown as an easy-to-read table
• Maintenance log per vessel: track maintenance tasks by engine hours or calendar interval and mark them done

Plus minor bug fixes and stability improvements.

### 1.5 — 2026-07-16

Logge 1.5 – Depth, Crew, GPX & Logge Pro

This version brings new logbook fields, a revamped statistics view — and, with Logge Pro, optional pro features for the first time. As a thank-you to everyone already using Logge, Logge Pro is completely free until the end of July.

New in the logbook:
• Water depth & water temperature – track both as new fields, auto-filled from NMEA (DPT/DBT/MTW) if your instruments provide them.
• Crew list – log who's on board for each trip. The crew shows up in the trip details and the exported PDF.
• Barometric trend – every log entry now shows an arrow (rising / steady / falling) plus the change since your last entry — the barometer at a glance.
• Season records – stats now show your earliest and latest trip of the season.
• More reliable NMEA – automatic reconnect with backoff and a watchdog keep the Wi-Fi connection alive.
• Fresh stats dashboard – overview card with your key figures and topic tabs (Overview / Trends / Weather / Records) instead of endless scrolling.

New: Logge Pro
Logge and all core features stay completely free forever – Pro only unlocks additional pro-level analytics. And all future Pro features are automatically included:
• GPX export – export the route of every completed trip as a GPX track for Navionics, OpenCPN, and more. The former PDF button is now an "Export" menu (PDF or GPX).
• Season comparison – two years side by side: distance, days at sea, avg. speed, and sailing share, with a difference shown per row.
• Fuel analysis – total consumption, liters per engine hour and per nautical mile, plus a yearly trend.
• Cruising ground heatmap, season forecast & weather profile – three new analysis cards in the stats view.
• Share stats as image – your season summary as a compact image for crew and social media.

One-time purchase, no subscription. Unlocked Pro features are yours to keep permanently.

Also: stats split by engine and sail, plus minor bug fixes and improvements.

### 1.4 — 2026-06-25

• Vessel mode: Pick sailboat or motorboat – forms show only the relevant fields.
• Quick-start voyage: Start with one tap, route tracks instantly. Fill in details later.
• Manoeuvre quick actions: Tack, gybe, reefing, engine, anchor and more as a pre-filled log entry.
• Automatic course-change detection with a pre-filled entry.
• Air pressure via the iPhone barometer – even offline.
• Port suggestions for departure and destination.
• Source badges on every field (GPS, NMEA, weather, barometer).
• Faster log entries: inline sail selection, pre-filled log reading.
• Interactive map: tappable log points, harbour markers, lifetime overview of all voyages.
• Trip statistics: wind rose, weather trend, sailing ratio, motor-vs-sail speed.
• New overall statistics: nautical miles, records, annual goal, charts, favourite ports – filter by ship & year.
• Engine hours at departure & arrival
