Thank you for this nice tool! It took me “days” and not “day” because I had no practical way of seeing why my shortcut wasn’t working, and my workarounds were almost as tedious as the project I was trying to automate. Logger is the solution. I just worked through a similar project with Logger on hand, and EVERYTHING went so much more smoothly—I could see where I’d told Shortcuts to do something foolishly, I could see where inputs and outputs deviated from my intentions, I could see everything. Project took me a day, and not days. ### 5/5 — Must-have app for debugging Shortcuts *2023-05-21* If you have any interest in writing shortcuts for your iOS device, this is an indispensable app. I can't recommend it highly enough. It's been we'll worth the purchase price for me. ### 5/5 — Lots of potential *2023-03-16* I am constantly monitoring many logs, some in a terminal window, others in their own thing, pm2, glances, etc, each app has their own logging method (log.debug, console.log, >> stdout, etc), not all log a timestamp, some do in UTC, others locale, etc and I end up with different windows spread all over multiple monitors. It’s no-man’s land. I dont know how active R&D for this is, seems nothing released in a year, but I saw this app today and in a “revelation” I envisioned it similar to Pushover (the standard central notification tool) but as a central logging tool. The multi-media options, cloud sync, tags, titles, are awesome ideas I had not even considered, content with tailing logs all these years. I would work on that concept, PROMOTE, add a webhook to write from wherever, some kind of markdown maybe? and this will take off. Thanks Alex for your continued work making life easier for Shortcuts power users. ### 5/5 — Pretty Cool *2022-03-16* I saw this on DF and bought it straight away. It doesn't work exactly as I expected — logs are genereated by descrete steps added to the shortcut as desired rather than generating a full-shortcut log — but it does debug like a champ! If you have longer or more complex shortcuts this is probably going to save you a ton of trouble. Likewise, if you're new, it's useful to really understand what your shortcut is doing. I'm sure furutre versions will be even better, still, not so sure about the price point ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ### 5/5 — At last! *2022-03-13, version 1.1.0* How Apple cannot get itself together to write such functionality into Shortcuts is beyond my ability to understand. Thank you Alexander for filling the hole! Much needed for those who need it (and as you get more into writing shortcuts, at some point you will realise you need it…) ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — No way to report bugs *2024-02-28* Well, the “App Support” link goes to a 404 page and there’s no way to contact the company on the website nor within the app. Anyway, the “Copy Title” function doesn’t work. Otherwise good app. **Developer response:** Sorry about this, the support link (https://shortcutslogger.dev/support) should now work and we've adde a "Send Feedback" menu item to the app. Please do get in touch if you have any other issues; we've love to hear in what way "Copy Title" isn't working as expected. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2023-03-21* I turn on logging, put the actions in the shortcut configure them, run it, and receive no logging. **Developer response:** Hi, Sorry to hear that you're having issues. Could you check that Logger isn't paused (open the app and look for the ⏸️ icon in the top left, if it shows ▶️ then tap the button)? Before 1.2.0, the app started with logging "paused", which would behave exactly as you describe. Could you get in touch with us at logger@snailedit.dev and we'll do our best to help? ### 1/5 — Broken on iOS 16.1.1 and macOS 13.2 *2023-02-22* Currently, this app opens up with a black screen on iOS and does not open at all on macOS. I really liked this app for debugging shortcuts, but I hadn't intentionally used it in at least a few months, so I can't give the exact version in which this app stopped working. My best guess is that the last major releases of both iOS and macOS broke the app probably due to some under-the-hood changes to the Shortcuts app. I hope the developer is able to address this breaking issue! **Developer response:** Hi, Sorry to hear you're having issues. It seems that I was wrong, the app does occasionally work. There seems to be either a bug or something weird with my device as some shortcuts send logs, others just do not. ### 3/5 — Unusable on macOS *2023-02-22* For every logged line on macOS I have to click Allow in the popup. On iOS and iPad OS it works well. ### 4/5 — Pas mal *2022-04-07* J'ai fait le choix de payer plour l'avoir et l'essayer. Bon je n'avais pas trop le choix car je galerai avec mon système de Log personnel et pas idéal. Cela fonctionne plutot bien. Sauf que là avec IOS 15.4.1 il y a des problème d'enregistrement, mais je ne doute pas qu'il va régler le problème. This combines all your checks through a script into one place that gives context to an entry and where things may have gone off the rails.
