This app changes so often my gripes will likely be obsolete by the time you read this. Bottom line, the upgrades somehow NEVER improve the app. Has it refreshed? Am I supposed to pay for content? The only constant is that it WILL crash on you. I've used it with a 4s and 6, same problems with either device. ### 1/5 — Shhhhh I'm reading *2014-06-21, version 4.6.4.0* The video adverts are absolutely annoying. You never know when they'll hit you - like Russian roulette. What a disruptive newspaper app. ### 1/5 — Crashy *2014-05-18, version 4.6.4.0* So crashy. The Times Call has officially become like the other papers, i.e. no proof reading and putting revenue above customer loyalty. ### 1/5 — Ads *2014-01-26* The articles are GREAT! When you can actually read them... You have 30 second video ads that won't close and most of the time crash the app itself! Seriously I have never gone through one paragraph without an ad crashing the whole thing! ### 1/5 — Video ads *2013-12-14* The new version sneaks in video ads now instead of the annoying, but quiet, pop ups. I can no longer catch up on the news at night because of the loud video ads that randomly pop up for fear of waking my hubby. You have to wait 5 seconds before you can close it. However the app fails to update the news. Basically you are looking at yesterday's news. It occasionally refreshes (unclear how or when) so sometimes it is current. But not much. If this gets fixed it is 4 stars. ### 1/5 — Do NOT download! *2013-01-04, version 4.0.1* The only news it gives you access to is Schools, Business, and Carbon Valley. Keep the old app if you can. Can't find weddings and anniversaries like the old app. The link on the old app to this didn't work had to search for iPhone update at app store. This is awful. Liked the other version 1000x better. I am deleting this one. Let me have the old one back. It should have been optional to update it and not mandatory. ### 1/5 — Chef *2012-11-27, version 2.0* This isn't an app, it's a crapp. Not intuitive, no easy link to actual news, a waste of an iPhone's memory. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — App is terrible *2025-03-13* I have a subscription to the Longmont Times-Call, so I should be able to read articles on the app. Unfortunately, the app doesn’t seem to recognize my paid subscription even though I’m logged in, which is extremely frustrating. Some articles open just fine, but others lead me to a page that says I don’t have a subscription and I’m at my limit of free articles. This is clearly a glitch that LTC needs to fix. **Developer response:** We are sorry to hear that you are having trouble accessing your subscription through our mobile app. For log-in help, please go to the settings menu in the app, which can be found under the gear icon, and scroll down to the Support section. There you will find our Login FAQs, or you can email our support team directly using the "Get Login Help"option. ### 1/5 — Scam - not worth paying for *2024-02-07* Worthless. Do not subscribe thinking you’re getting the digital version of the Times Call Newspaper. This app is a pathetic money grab with virtually no current content. Shameful. ### 1/5 — Misleading Marketing *2020-10-31* I have had Longmont Times Call App for many years on my phone. I was required to update my App a few weeks ago. The update said I would continue to get the news for the rate I was getting it prior to the update. This was straight up misleading marketing as the rate increased exponentially. Makes me wonder which side of the truth they print in the paper. ### 1/5 — Needs work *2019-05-06* All articles from print edition do not show up in the app. For instance, in today’s print edition (5/6/19) on the front page there is an article about Berthoud having 4th of July fireworks for the first time in over 100 years. No search bar in app (why not??) and I can’t find the same article anywhere in the app today!? This is not a user-friendly or complete alternative to the print edition! ### 1/5 — Starts game while reading. *2018-09-17, version 7.3.6* This connects you to some game server while reading and the game starts. Amateur hour - deleted it immediately. ### 1/5 — Crappy app *2018-09-01, version 7.3.2* Creator of app barely left it breathing. No option to search for articles published in the past. ### 1/5 — Money grubbing times call *2016-06-24* You used to get a bunch of ads if you looked at the times call for free, now you have to pay, but you still get to look at all the ads. Times Call continues the downward spiral to worthless. Uninstalling app. ### 1/5 — Won't open articles *2016-03-08* I've used this app for a long time to stay current on local news but now I can't open any articles because I don't want to pay for a subscription. Uninstalling. ### 1/5 — Login now?! *2015-05-09* Now we have to login to see the articles after never having to before? This is ridiculous. Good luck surviving in this age when anyone can get information for free online. I'm deleting this now that it's useless. ### 1/5 — Terrible, deleting *2015-03-27* Way too many intrusive ads popping up or moving around. There are at least three different versions of Prairie's Times-Call app, all of which have terrible ratings. They also make many other apps (25!!!) for other local papers, all of those have terrible ratings too. But oddly enough the Loveland paper app they make (which one I'm not sure) is somewhat more. I've had these apps on my phone for ages but never looked at them until now. It updates well and you can find some current news by using the second button from the left along the bottom. The button marked news brings up a worthless subset such as Carbon Valley news.
