The app is interesting but I am experiencing several issues to load the albums/tracks. The UI and UX are not the best as I expected. There are several points to improve.

Great potential here! Panorama album view is excellent, but there are a few UI issues to work out before this is a preferred music listening experience on the Apple Vision Pro. Currently, the Settings window cannot be minimized, and the allow selection toggle has no memory. Also, in panorama mode, the player window is just too large. Finally, if you could actually pull an album off the wall and look at it in your hands maybe even turn it over and see liner notes and add immersive listening room spaces or environments and this app would be an absolute killer.

Je n’ai jamais compris pourquoi l’app Musique ne le fait pas. 
Toujours est-il que Longplay le fait, et le fait bien, y compris en voiture avec CarPlay. 
Ça mérite largement le prix demandé, voire un tip complémentaire.

I use this as much as the Apple Music app if not more, especially for playing albums. It displays your album artwork beautifully and has many different methods of easily organising them.
I don’t love the autocorrect on searches but a minor quibble.

I’m so glad I recently discovered this app. I used to listen to entire albums for years, but that changed with the rise of streaming platforms. This app reminded me of what I had been missing! Since the layout options in Apple Music are quite limited, this app offers a much better experience when browsing through your albums. Thanks for creating it – absolutely worth it! I hope a Mac version will follow soon.

The albums tab in Apple Music is useless because single songs count as albums.  I want to see only my full albums.   That’s why I use Longplay instead.

When I was growing up, my dad had a 100-CD disc changer for the house. Most of the time he just had it on the shuffle mode which would play an entire album before changing to the next one Ever since entering the digital music era, I’ve dreamed of having that experience with my own music. 

Thank you for making my dreams come true.

Albums deserve being listened to as distinct works of art, not as mixtapes or playlists. I will evangelize this app far and wide.

the brilliance of this app is not only what it does, but what it doesn’t do as well.

i’ve been able to revisit albums i haven’t listened to in years and enjoy albums i’ve just discovered. been going through a rough patch and this app has helped with the healing.

take time to slow down and enjoy the art made for your ears.

It seems to me the main thing a player should do is to be able to play Abbey Road. This one can’t. It puts a gap between all songs. Same on  Sgt Pepper and every other album. They added a “Purity” option which is suppose to enable gapless play but it doesn’t work. It overlaps the songs and you can’t control the overlap timing, to 0 for example. iTunes/Apple Music plays albums better than this app. It’s a waste of money.

Auf meinem 15 Pro Max 512 sind genug Alben offline abgelegt mittels Doppler.
Aber hier ist nur richtig Handarbeit angesagt.

In der Beschreibung und auf der Webseite steht ausdrücklich, dass nur Musik angezeigt wird, die auch in der Music-App vorhanden ist: Apple Music, Käufe oder manuell synchronisierte Titel. Unterstützung für lokale Dateien direkt ist in Arbeit.

Update: Decided to give this another try after some time, and of course it’s still disappointing. Continues to be unusable and a complete waste of money. Starts loading my music library and then just crashes. Over and over. It’s a toy. If you’ve got like 10 songs in your library it might work, but it doesn’t work with any decently-size one. Exactly the target audience for a non-first-party music app, and this app just doesn’t work. Hyped up and useless. Save your money and keep using the Music app. For all its faults and warts, it at least loads and plays music most of the time. Old review: It has a very difficult time loading all the music in my library and the UI is constantly frozen and my device gets very hot when that happens, and then crashes. I’ve had to completely uninstall and reinstall it several times. Even when it’s supposedly done loading everything, it doesn’t actually show everything I have in my music library. It constantly crashes and freezes. I don’t have Apple Music, I’m using iTunes Match and all of my music is downloaded locally on my device, so it should be pretty straightforward. Seems like a small hobby app that can probably work with a handful of items in one’s library but it has *not* been tested with decently-sized libraries and is definitely not for anyone who actually cares about listening to music. I despise subscriptions but this is exactly why they are preferred because when coming across duds like this app, the developers would have some incentive to fix things, whereas there’s no incentive here as I’ve already paid for the app. Disappointing.

This app used to rock but now the widget, even after the latest update, still has problems showing the album artwork. It’s a shame because this app was one of my favorite apps. 😞

This app is so slow as to be unusable. I’ve *never* been able to make it play a single album on AirPlay, but it’s sometimes happy to mistakenly play one locally if my finger brushes against the screen. (My personal record is *three times* last night!) The UI looks pretty when the app finally stops “Updating albums…”—it’s a long delay every time—and then I can only pick an album from the UI to play manually on Apple Music—and *then* the app updates its UI to show that, yes, yes, that album is now playing. It’s something, but not much. 

I have a very large music library music library. That may cause my problems, but the problems are awful. I just tried again to play an album, gave it plenty of time, but nothing. I switched apps and wrote this review, and still nothing. I just went back and the app is back to “Updating albums…”.

Recently stopped working. I see the Downloaded screen briefly and BAM, it's gone. Over & over. 

When it works, it's a neat idea, and does a good job picking out what albums I have... or nearly have.

Unfortunately the pretty nifty album selection UI doesn't make its way to CarPlay, which was disappointing!

But none of that matters until, you know, I can open it successfully again. :(

This was a MacBreak Weekly podcast pick from Jason Snell. I’ve been both a MBW listener and a reader of Jason’s forever. Both almost always offer great recommendations. But yikes. This is an “opinionated” UI. Cheers for that. And opinions can’t be wrong, right? That’s why they’re opinions!

This opinion is wrong wrong wrong. 
I’m glad I “only” blew six bucks on the iOS app instead of 25 on the Mac app. 

On the plus column, looks like it has great Apple Shortcuts support so I never need to look at or try to navigate this hot mess. But the UI was the point and it’s a dull one.

Apple Music’s album experience (visualisation, discovery, playback) pales into insignificance in comparison to Longplay’s. Kudos to the developers for building this.

Perfect companion app for Apple Music. I realize how many workarounds I have tried over the years to have something like this. I used custom labels on iTunes to tag complete albums. I created complicated shortcuts to shuffle albums, and not songs. But those were just that - workarounds. This is the real thing, and I say thank you to the developer! I wouldn’t change a thing… or maybe, just one. Have a view of the album cover, and just that, while playing on the iPad.

If you like listening to albums, this app is great to explore them in different ways - stuff you’ve forgot about - or your favourites / go to’s etc.  Developer very helpful if any issues too.

I love music. I love sometimes listening to a succession of bangers. However, I also love listening to music in its original context. A𐤡BA’s “Me and I” is a banger. It’s even better as part of “Super Trouper” which is where I originally heard it.

I love how this app also allows me to rate my music with Star Ratings on CarPlay. (Remember them, Apple?)

I love how I can sort albums by Negligence. Rediscovering a great album that I had simply forgotten about is now easy.

If there were also a tvOS app, I’d be made up.

Buy this app now. Your ears deserve it.

Ich habe den Bug gefunden, der dafür verantwortlich ist, dass neue Alben nicht immer zuverlässig angezeigt werden. Ein Fix ist unterwegs und sollte in Kürze verfügbar sein (mit Version 2.5.4).

Bis dahin hilft folgender Workaround: Longplay komplett beenden (also die App im App-Switcher nach oben wischen), erneut öffnen und dann per „Pull-to-Refresh“ die Alben neu laden. Nicht ideal, aber immerhin erscheinen die neuen Alben dann zuverlässig.

There is a natural reluctance to be suspicious of superlative reviews but I offer no apology for echoing all those who have given this app the five stars it so richly deserves. I should love to know if Mr J.Ive has it installed and have to believe that Mr S.Jobs would wholeheartedly approve. It is a delight to use and behold on all platforms.
