My avatar would not appear. I emailed and searched the web for a solution and nothing. Bitmoji app did a way better job of generating a fun to use avatar. I deleted the app 10 mins after downloading and trying it out. Frustrating. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t register face on multiple IOS devices. *2021-01-05, version 1.3.07* After seeing lots of great tutorials on youtube about how to create live avatars i thought I’d give it a go. Only the app doesn't work - on any of my IOS devices, on a whole range of Apple accounts. When you take a selfie, it isn't recognised - even when you follow every instruction to the letter. I’ve even cloned the photos used in the tutorials, and they don't work either. It seems that everyone else is having the same issue. I needed an app that allowed me to create different versions of my avatar, do AR, doesn’t look chibi or like a Pixar/Disney character. I can’t wait to use it on Loomie live. Now, I would pay for a subscription (a concept I abhor) just to be able to create a vlog with full bodied characters within my ipad or phone. Is this on the horizon? How about mocap arm movements? The avatar the app created of me captured my characteristics well. The process was fast, simple and fun. The app’s AR mode is my favorite feature. The ability to place my avatar’s face over my own head in real-time is a plus. Overall, great app! ### 4/5 — App works now *2021-01-20, version 1.3.084* This works fine on ios and on the Mac platform now - so it is worth updating your app if you tried it before and it didn’t work, but still can’t get the corresponding PC software to work. I’m a teacher and it is very useful for providing a live action ‘front’ for students to interact with, while preserving your own privacy. It really promotes engagement when combined with a desktop version of Zoom or Google Meets and used for distance learning. You can’t use the live action avatar for video conferencing from a mobile device though - that functionality is desktop/laptop only. I definitely get the idea this is all very beta software and we are being used as beta testers prior to monetising it. Still, there isn’t anything else like this around even though it is still close to ‘minimum viable product’ so why not give it a go? Watch out for all those YouTube tutorials - they make it seem effortless to make it work. That has been far from my experience. Fortunately the developers do seem to take note of feedback and push out updates based on it (sometimes very quickly)- even if they don’t reply. ### 4/5 — Very good but it needs to improve it *2020-10-21* Two detected “problems”: It doesn’t work with my external usb cam connected to my laptop. But the facial hair options are poor.
