I have been using Cuba’s, and then studio one, and then more recently getting into live looping. Had a little boss pedal which was kind ok. I heard about this program Loopy Pro. I downloaded it over a year ago, initially overwhelmed. Everyone says it’s so powerful but it has a bit of a steep learning curve. For some videos, understanding the nuances, and the subtle brilliance with this simplicity, I can now say after using this for a year and a half it is more than just a music looping program, it is in fact life-changing. Once you start using it you can see the potential, you can literally do anything live. I mean anything. I have used Ableton for some live looping in the past, and this completely blows it away. I cannot give it enough accolades, it is absolutely brilliant, and served me in a path, spending thousands of dollars to upgrade my physical equipment with the main hub loopy pro on an iPad. I’m telling you right now, in the right hand this will blow away anything on a laptop, anything on Ableton live. It’s worth so much more than the nominal price here on the App Store. ### 5/5 — pretty much my main DAW now *2026-08-10, version 2.0.5* I've tried so many different hardware and software loopers I've lost count. I own an RC505mk2, mk1, RC5, ableton, logic pro, and have tried countless others - this DAW just blows them all out of the water. It is one of the most fun and intuitive DAWs I've ever used - so much so that it's basically my main idea generator these days. I use it on both my iphone and ipad, with a more elaborate hardware rig (12 channels) and with a very simple 2 channel interface for buskin' and Loopy pro handled both flawlessly. Waiting desperately for the macos version so I can use it on every platform. The development team is responsive, I've never had it crash, and even with my 12ch setup the CPU usage barely goes about 20% on a medium range iPad. Loopy Pro has brought my vision to life and gave me the power to bring it even further than I had dreamed of. I run drums, guitar, bass, and synths all through a single iPad, each with their own effects/apps, and out to a single amp. It’s insanely easy to switch between the right sounds exactly when I want them. The learning curve is extremely low and the community creating tutorials and walk through is incredible- so you can find how to do almost anything in the app with ease. If I could give it 6/5 stars I would. It becomes whatever kind of looper you desire. There is a learning curve of course that comes with this much versatility. There is a multitude of people online including the developer willing and able to help you fulfill your looper dreams. Hate subscriptions? Me too. The payment model is the way of the future in my opinion. You pay one time and get a full year of updates after that keeping all you have. If you want more updates after that you pay more. It can be best sampler/DAW app on iOS. But there is huge BUT! There is no proper file explorer!!! Picking any sample from your library takes about 20-30 secs!!! And you can’t properly listen it because files app is slow! Working in koala sampler is much more faster and handy. Please, add NORMAL file explorer, like in koala sampler. **Developer response:** Hi there. Sorry to hear you had a frustrating experience. What you’re describing definitely isn’t typical. Picking samples should be fast. Drag and drop from the Files app straight onto clips, for example, usually works great. If you’re finding it’s taking 20–30 seconds, something unusual is going on. I was looking for a new music app, and once I saw two “free” apps that required complications, or a subscription. Imagine Ableton Live, complete with Session and Arranger - then add a totally flexible MIDI controller which you can design yourself - both with looks and functionality. Then add some more cool stuff, like the Ability to run Loopy Pro as a plugin - IN Loopy Pro! The fact that this also runs on an iPhone is insane. I guess my old Boss hardware can take a break and move aside for Loopy Pro. Good YouTube video support for learning the interface, which is a very friendly UI with minimal time invested in the learning curve. You know how we get excited about a new instrument or pedal….
