### 4/5 — Good nostalgic gameplay, poor documentation

*2026-07-16*

This reminds me of the old Spiderweb Software computer rpg games that I played as a kid. It has a surprising amount of depth in its stat interactions (e.g., your success rate gets worse and you take more damage if there is no light or your character is exhausted). I’ve already put a lot of hours into it and only feel like I’ve scratched the surface.

However, that is also its major deficiency. There is so much going on that it is often difficult to tell what the correct way to play is. For example, I am currently level capped at 20. How do I lift this? How do I find a trainer who can give me more stat points to use? I found one in the start of the Tunnels, but no more even down to level 17. Is there a way of figuring out crafting and spell recipes, or do you need to wait for them to randomly drop? Early on, I got new recipes automatically (I.e., not as a dropped item) for no apparent reason, but this hasn’t happened for a long time. I currently only have one spell I can cast and I’ve never done it because it only creates light and lanterns are cheap. How do I mine? I already have a pickax. There are even apparently pets and minions and base building, but I’ve never seen even a hint of this in game. What does item combination do? It always says that the combo doesn’t do anything. Where can I find a mystic forge? All of this is getting a bit frustrating because my obvious avenues to progress (Tunnels, Fairy Kingdom, and the rat area) are gated by extremely difficult encounters where often I cannot even successfully hit the enemies.

Normally this sort of stuff would be explained in a help system, but there is none. The only direction is in short snippets of flavor text, which are often not specific enough. There is a Fandom wiki, but it’s nearly empty. Please add better instructions for how the various systems work and where you should look next for progression!

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for your feedback! I will add a help system asap! Kind regards, Mario.

### 4/5 — Worth the money

*2025-01-23, version 1.98.13*

My only complaint is the map. Most games let you zoom in/out with your fingers. The game itself is good and worth the money.

### 4/5 — Gut aber…

*2024-02-19*

### 5/5 — Very fun!

Having a great time with this game, very unique experience in modern app gaming

### 5/5 — Bon jeu

*2023-11-25*

**Developer response:** Merci beaucoup ! Salutations, Mario.

### 5/5 — This game is amazing!!

### 5/5 — Lootbox - Lootbox Free

*2023-11-05, version 1.96.219*

A fun romp. Easy to pick up and put down, forgiving for stat mistakes, and a story that doesn’t take itself that seriously. And no pay-to-win loot boxes anywhere

### 5/5 — Really good

This is a great game!

### 5/5 — Fun game

Fun turn based dungeon crawler. Pretty simple design, but has all the essentials to make a challenging and engaging game. Enjoy!

### 5/5 — Great D&D RPG

*2022-11-25*

It’s a difficult game, but all great RPGs should be like this; there is a lot of ‘grinding’, but practice makes perfect. There is not a lot of help available, but just enough info to explain stats and I think this is well-balanced. I’ve been playing this fairly regularly for weeks and find it quite entertaining.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much :-) kind regards, Mario

### 5/5 — Pretty cool

*2022-09-06*

Fun game, lots of content, yeah it’s a bit grindy but enjoyable.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much! Kind regards, Mario.

### 5/5 — Gets better and better

*2022-04-20*

My only criticism is that this game starts slow and tough and gives little indication of how deep, interesting and complex it is. Definitely worth playing and keeping.

Minor bug found: I got the +1 to all stats for clearing the first dungeon but then after equipping and unequipping some stat-boosting items my First Aid skill has dropped to 0 and won't reset back up to 1.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much! If this problem hasn't gone away, please contact me at lootbox@gaida.de. kind regards, Mario

### 5/5 — Pls add map in dungeon

Surprisingly good

### 5/5 — Old school fun!

*2021-11-07*

Fun for everyone so go ahead and download it pronto. Reminds me of a very early Mac game, think 1986, named Tomb of the Taskmaker. I’d play that game for hours on my 16mhz, 2mb ram Mac II. I said download it! Stop reading this and download now! Thanks dev!

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for your kind words 😊 best regards, Mario

### 5/5 — Einfach Klasse!!!!!!

*2021-11-03*

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Unsatisfying ending and controls

*2026-01-25, version 1.98.13*

Game doesn’t hold up well past level 30, have to wait 24 hours if you want to mine ores, weapons do not progress. Controls are also very clunky, experience as s whole is very underwhelming.

### 1/5 — You missed! You missed!

*2020-05-25, version 1.95.240*

You missed Skeleton!

You missed Skeleton!

You missed Skeleton!

You missed your space allocation on my phone!

You missed any chance of a review above 1 star!

### 1/5 — dommage.

*2019-09-12*

### 2/5 — Style over usability

*2020-07-09, version 1.95.240*

That horrific old-timey font might lend some cliche style points but it sure as %¥(@ makes reading the ample in-game text an arduous process.

UX 101 = use a readable font, and the background and text color should contrast well. Big fail for small screens.

This game is a UX nightmare.

Deleting.

### 2/5 — Difficulty spikes the game

*2019-02-11, version 1.1*

I played this about 15 hours while at work. I think I’m about half way through, but I’m done with it.

It plays like a turn based diablo 1. You slay monsters, gather loot, then head down to the next level. There are a lot of monster variety, with a new monster being introduced every 3-4 floors. Often I find that the new monsters are a lot tougher than the last one introduced. This causes an insane difficulty spike every 5ish floors.

The loot itself wasn’t very interesting. You’ll mostly keep finding the same item that adds stats to one attribute/skill or another. I would play for hours before finding one gear to replace another.

This game has a unique leveling system. You gain exp and spend skill points as per usual, but your max level is 10 until you buy scrolls to increase it. Every level past 10 cost gold to be able to acquire. In addition your max stats are lock to 20 until you increase your tier. Tiers are raised by completing story quest.

Here is my experience with the game.

First character I wasn’t sure how to build him. I figured I would start off with constitution since In most of these type of games, you can’t go wrong with more health. I leveled a few combat stats as well. When I got to the first difficulty spike on the 5th floor I couldn’t progress. I’d always miss and the enemies hit hard.

So I tried again with a focus on strength/melee with a plan to save often to help me through. I struggled through the 5th floor and managed to make it to the next spike where I gave up on that character too.

Third times a charm. Started with high defense with strength and melee being secondaries. This fared much better. with a little grinding I was able to get through the 10th floor. The spike at level 15 I pushed through with a lot of save scumming, but I did it. Finally beat the first dungeon.

Next dungeon I had to fight my way through goblins. Every 5ish floors I would need to grind to be strong enough to take on the new challenges. Around the end I was coming up on mages who could 2 shot me, so I still had to do some save scumming to get through them.

After fighting my way through the goblins I made my way to what I assume is the third dungeon (the crypt)? I’m not completely sure becuse the game tells me to go kill dragons, but this is the only dungeon I haven’t been through yet. I get to the third floor and I’m getting slaughter by everything. This is when I decided I’ve had enough.

To be fair, maybe it would be easier if I had some spells. I have the ability to learn petty and higher magic, but I don’t know how. The game hasn’t explained it.

In conclusion for a buck this game is alright. The monster variety was good, but the crazy spikes in difficulty were not. Also for a game with loot in the title, loot wasn’t exciting.

### 2/5 — Horrifically unbalanced and too reliant on rng

*2019-01-19*

As soon as i hit the fifth floor i get mobbed by way too tough enemies and it seems that there is nothing that i can do other than save and hope i can plow through with luck, that some people seem to like this is beyond baffling but maybe they are thinking back on times where such bs rng systems were more prevalent but i dont find this fun at all.

I want to like this but I cant abide the die and restore thing to placate the rng gods, there is no skill beyond getting lucky.

Also the ranged system is horrendous, I lucked on getting a sling and it is horrid how to shoot the thing.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for your opinion. Yes, most elements are random based and are not balanced. I can understand that you might not like this style. Thank you very much for trying it out anyway! Kind regards, Mario

### 3/5 — Fun game, but endgame is quite flawed and lacking

*2023-05-06*

This is a really fun game! I thought is was going to be a really short simple basic game, but there is some decent depth to it, I really enjoyed playing it up until I killed cranborough boss. The quest line just seems to end after the wizard tower quest and getting the flower. there is no resolution with final quest. It just says your quest ends here and that’s it. I think if you added a late game dungeon , with much better weapons and levels up to level 100 it would be helpful. After cranborough I had all this upgraded gear minus a weapon and really nothing exiting to use it on. I think it would be fun to have to option to max out all your stats late game. The end just feels very unfinished and could easily be fantastic with a few more dungeons.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for your feedback. Kind regards, Mario

### 3/5 — Notch device bug

*2021-11-02, version 1.95.240*

This was updated a year ago but devices with a notch still can’t see the top of the gui? How do you make an iOS game that doesn’t support notched devices?

### 3/5 — Gut Leistung

*2020-05-18*

**Developer response:** Vielen Dank!

### 3/5 — Not terrible, but you’d have to sink many hours into it

*2019-09-11*

Old school rogue like game. I think my biggest complaint would be the scaling. I played what I would consider a decent amount to get the idea of the game- I beat the Gravelord. It was pretty fun while I played it. I think 2 details caused me to quit and delete:

 1) losing all of that sweet loot when you get stuck and have to die (that feels bad).

2) the natural scaling of the game means way too much grinding on prior levels before you can advance to anything significant. I don’t want to grind levels 15-20 on maze normal until I level up enough to go on to the next one. Tried and failed at the rat lair final floor because stamina rats were annoying. Tried and failed at vampire girls hard mode and got destroyed by stamina. Ah well, good for the 10ish hours I sunk, on to the next one.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for giving the game a try and for your review! Kind regards, Mario

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great game!

*2025-06-12*

You will need the wiki and the discord chat to get all the good stuff, but it’s fun leveling up as you try to figure out what all the scrolls, runes, and other loot does. Looking forward to 2.0.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much! Kind regards, Mario.

### 5/5 — Awsome game !

*2025-01-14*

Bonne continuation !

### 5/5 — Perfect dungeon crawler.

*2025-01-13, version 1.98.1*

Exactly what you want. Randomized levels, plenty of loot, crafting, milestones, the works.

### 5/5 — Schön & Abwechslungsreich

*2024-12-27*

Weiter So !

### 5/5 — Perfect game

*2024-12-17, version 1.97.1*

if you loved hack or mines of Moria you will love this.

### 5/5 — Awesome game

*2024-10-26*

I’m having a lot of fun with this old school type of game. A little more directions would be nice though.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much! Kind regards, Mario :-)

### 5/5 — Fun little game

*2024-04-30, version 1.96.234*

Enough to keep me entertained and playing. Worth the purchase.

### 5/5 — Simple, addictive, old school fun

*2024-03-02, version 1.96.234*

Perfect rpg to play while patting a child to sleep or petting your cat with the other hand.

### 5/5 — Hard in a good way

*2023-12-09*

Lots of depth to this game, starts off slow but just gets better as you go. Very slow progress but I don't mind that. Just wish there was better inventory management options like slot expansion.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much :-) kind regards, Mario

### 5/5 — Erinnerung an alte Zeiten

*2023-11-30*

Super Spiel ohne Werbung und in-App käufe.
