### 4/5 — Awesome tale but a small bug

*2021-07-07*

Awesome read and journey. Not that many choices but can’t ask for much more. Some big events such as a death or something else major never really had much written about them, more like diary entries. No spoilers but someone dying who you are close to, i was that immersed in real life I felt sad but the book and character did not reflect it, like I said, a diary entry. Still, really awesome. Only problem is that the epilogue kept calling me John Doe instead of the name I picked and had a few other details wrong such as my child’s name. During the story you are named correctly but the epilogue you are not and kinda left me just w little unsatisfied as the final piece of literature was not correct. Maybe just a bug with mine.

### 4/5 — Great but needs some fixing

*2019-08-02*

This is a great read. Though there are quiet a few bugs I made the Kong’s daughter queen and won that engagement it then made me a John Doe and when I died it said I went off to the crusades even though I was the high chancellor. It’s great just needs some bug fixing.

### 4/5 — Almost

*2018-02-26*

Could be REALLY good so easily.... there seams to be some parts cut/skipped over such as sudden scene jumps. Another instance involves going of to the crusades, which ends without going anywhere. Also, like others have said, a lot of empty space with no relevant choices.

Is entertaining though if the above is kept in mind if you like the genre. Have heard a rumor of a sequel which will hopefully fix the above issues

### 4/5 — B+

*2016-06-18*

It is a little slow, but later the story gets very game of thrones.

### 4/5 — 4 stars unless you're an English major or editor

*2016-04-17*

I like the concept of the story - the life of an individual from birth to death.
Despite the horrific writing at times and many links that just didn't fit perfectly, the general flow and spirit of the story was very enjoyable and I spent a lazy day living in the past.
Battle scenes worked well on my first read.
Okay so my wife had her third baby when she was about 60-62 years old! That was weird. I suspected other age related glitches with minor characters but no big deal.
If you want a story with a lot of interaction, get Sorcery series. If you like to read about the medieval ages and don't mind just gently steering the story, then consider this.

### 5/5 — Thrilling story

*2016-04-16*

A literary phenomena of multiple choice - in a world complete with vivid descriptions, the world of politics, and indeed the gripping tale of a character to which you are the maker.

Marvellous

It took me the best part of a week to finish, my only fault being it didn't carry on (perhaps my son and heir's life could be covered by the story)

Replay value is certainly their too

### 5/5 — Can't wait for the next one

*2016-01-03, version 1.0.3*

Seriously! It's great fun.

### 5/5 — Buy now

*2015-10-17, version 1.0.3*

Top of its class

### 5/5 — Exceptional story

*2015-09-23*

The sheer scale of this game is breathtaking; condensing the entire lifetime of a nobleman into one good solid read is incredible. Every choice counts over a story spanning almost 50 years. Wow!

### 5/5 — Time Absorbent

*2015-09-04, version 1.0.3*

This game is awesome. No better way to put it, and way worth my money. I just love anything feudal and this game lets me live my life as a lord. So far the best text based game I have ever played.

### 5/5 — Masterpiece

*2015-07-20*

It was from start to finish one of the most enthralling choice games I've ever played to date! It grabbed me from the start and didn't let me go till the end! I just wish it could've been longer! Truly a masterpiece of literature that used the choice system marvellously!

### 5/5 — Amazing choice game!

*2015-06-08, version 1.0.3*

It's too bad there are so few reviews in this game. The story is enticing. I was completely immersed in my character. Better than all the other choice games I have played thus far.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2015-05-30, version 1.0.3*

This is a very long story which is great, definitely worth it and the story is good too with lots of replay value

### 5/5 — Dee

*2015-05-09, version 1.0.3*

I have to say this is the best choice game I played and I played them all. The fact that this is long,(still not finish) choices are defined and story is good make this one the best of all. Thank you makers!

### 5/5 — Needs more paths

*2015-05-08, version 1.0.3*

Their needs to be more paths, becouse right now it feels like theres no veration, also i would like more animals for the shilds

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Nope

*2015-04-02, version 1.0.1*

null_explanation

### 2/5 — Not my type of game

*2024-08-24*

Game isn’t bad just honestly doesn’t have any type of pictures nor sounds so it’s all imagination but it’s cool. I would love to refund this after play 10 minutes of the game just don’t know how ?? Could anyone tell me how to refund the game ?

### 2/5 — It’s good but...

*2018-04-04*

I love medieval games and this game is great but maybe you could give the option to be female

### 2/5 — Poorly written & edited

*2015-11-29, version 1.0.3*

Don't pay for this. You barely get any choices compared to similar games, and there are grammatical errors and bugs in the game itself (MANY grammatical errors). Not worth the money or time.

### 2/5 — Boring

*2015-02-03*

First and foremost, I will give credit to the author for the detail of the research invested into this story. However, that is where my praise ends.
Overall it lacked intensity, fervor; it felt like a complacent story of a knight lacking any combat. I have invested approximately 3 hours into the game this far and find it taxing to continue. The story has only a focus on the politics and I feel there is some ambiguity as to what this game actually is on first glance, so allow me to enlighten:
It is droll work of a Knights story lacking any combat scenes what-so-ever. The only good thing about it is the amount of research wasted on such a futile endeavor.

### 3/5 — Story-Immersive Breaking Text

*2015-09-19*

First review (after quite a few tries...), ever so first off:
Lovely game, pretty neat...
However, it is not appreciated that this happened. If you give the choice for a character to be bisexual (or interested in both male and female, as stated in-game) then let that be consistent. My character shouldn't be uncomfortable laying with his wife, even if he has laid with a man because he LIKES both. Seriously, please look into this and fix the text surrounding it. There's no point in having a bisexual character and them not actually being bisexual...

### 3/5 — Needs more choices

*2015-08-10, version 1.0.3*

The content and detail of every page is phenomenal, but the choices are too few and far between to keep someone like me entertained. But that's just my opinion. Also, when you do make a choice in say something involving customization, the choice is not nearly described enough as well as it should be on the next page. Overall, the concept and writing is great but the choices need improvement.

### 3/5 — Choice? Not so much.

*2015-04-04, version 1.0.1*

This is a well written story but it's tiring to constantly hit the "Next" button. Could have gone so many directions....not much "choice."

### 3/5 — Good but linear

*2015-02-11, version 1.0.1*

Overall I enjoyed the story and writing style, however it gets repetitive after three or four Playthroughs. I would still recommend this game to anyone because of the lengthy story. However do not expect much in terms of replay value

### 3/5 — Immersive, but somewhat tedious

*2015-02-05, version 1.0.1*

As a devoted customer of text-based game studios (especially Hosted and Choice of), this new offering by Hosted was by far the most descriptive piece of work I've ever played. Although vivid imagery is all well and good, there is a line where it interferes with the pace of the story. Honestly, I was a little disappointed in the weakness of interaction as compared to that of the Tin Star per se. Overall, still a nice effort.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Wow

*2023-04-24*

Best game I have ever played in the App Store. One of the best of its kind. Please make more of these.

### 5/5 — Fantastic Work

*2019-01-12*

This game is a true masterpiece of the role playing genre. With many captivating arcs and several different paths of outcome depending on your choices, Lords of Aswick brings you into the Early Middle Ages in a tale that parallels Britain’s “Troubles” during the succession crisis of Matilda. I fully recommend this game to anyone who loves fantasy and history.

### 5/5 — One of the best

*2018-06-12, version 1.0.4*

It is a great read - not something to be rushed through. It is 'wordy' when compared to a lot of text based games, and, perhaps, some more choice would make a few more people happy - but I think the story is GREAT. A sequel concerning that fifth gen descendant would be much appreciated. I have spent a lot of time on this game.

### 5/5 — Best game of its kind.

*2017-11-27*

I loved this more than Zombie Exodus, and thats a tough one to beat.

Lords of Aswick is original and completely immersive. I lost myself in this story and I can’t say that much.

### 5/5 — Great experience

*2016-12-05*

As some one who has played many of there types of games I must say this is one of the best

### 5/5 — Great game

*2016-08-31*

This was a enjoyable adventure I've lost many hours to this replaying the story picking different choices

### 5/5 — Perfect

*2016-08-29*

Now I have played a few choice of games and while all good left me wanting more, this by far is the greatest game I've played so far by choice of, perfect story line my only wish would be to carry on with you dynasty in some way!

### 5/5 — Jolly good

*2016-08-12*

Not the next "Once and Future King" but still enjoyable from start to finish.

### 5/5 — Fan'bloody'tastic

*2016-08-02*

This is one of, if not the best choice of games/hosted games. Get it! Please bring out a second!

### 5/5 — One of the Best

*2016-05-29*

I have played almost the entire hosted games catalogue as well as many of their parent/partner publisher choice of games and I can honestly say this game was brilliant. I love it and still replay it just for the story. I always feel bitter sweet regret at every ending knowing a sequel isn't out. For comparison, I'd compare this game to the simply brilliant Sabres of Infinity, the marvelous Choice of Broadsides, and the stunning Choice of Romance. Truly a superior piece of art. In fact I think I will run through it again right now.
