### 4/5 — A lot of fun

*2026-08-27*

I’ve tried so many apps/games like this and they all drop the ball. This one is actually good. Multiple stories (some finished and some actively releasing chapters with release dates) and even different outcomes and endings with different play throughs. the ai’s are fun to chat with and the storylines have been entertaining so far. I do really wish we could customize our main characters look/backstory to a degree more than just the name though to make it feel more immersive and maybe if we could some more darker/alt/pierced love interests that would be bang on! :) can’t wait to read the next chapters that come out

### 3/5 — Too few options

*2026-08-17*

I was hooked with the first story, blown away by the graphics and interactions, but the second that story ended there were very few options to choose from for the next story. There were only 2 others that were completed and all of the others are only a few chapters into the storyline. They ask you for your favorite genre, etc when you sign up as if there are enough stories that may appeal to you to make it worth the subscription. The stories that I have done are great, just incomplete and few and far between. For the price of the subscription, I expected more variety. This app could be the best in this market space if they fixed that.

### 4/5 — Great Game

*2026-08-07*

I wish there were more finished stories. However what you do have are all great. I’ve enjoyed each one. I do wish there was more customization for choosing our characters but again the overall stories have me hooked.

I do have one issue: I’m stuck on chapter 9 of My College Fantasy. Ive helped Felix with the bags and that’s about the only time I get an interaction with him. There is no option to exchange numbers with him. So later when I’m prompted to let Felix know that I’m ready for dinner I can’t. I don’t have his number and can’t text him or interact with him. So I’m just stuck on that chapter because I cannot complete the prompt. I’ve reached out to support and haven’t received a response as of yet. It hasn’t been a week yet but I hope it doesn’t take that long for a response especially something that I’m paying for. 😪

**Developer response:** Hi Asalove88! Your story should be all fixed now but please let us know if you run into anything else at info@sunbird.studio and thank you for playiing! We've got more stories on the way and character customization is definitely on the roadmap. Stay tuned!

### 4/5 — Great game but…

*2026-07-26*

I was so addicted to my first story and I was super excited to continue to read it but then I got hit with the, I need a subscription to continue reading the chapters which I just feel that I shouldn’t have to pay or do a free trial just to get more chapters. I would rather prefer to play the chapters freely because I can tell this is a really good game and the stories are really good and really addicting and I just wished that I could have continued to the chapters that’s all.

### 4/5 — Some bugs but good

*2026-07-23, version 1.0.33*

Love this app so much! However, one of my stories just jumped randomly to a whole new character arc in a scene I feel should have been specific to the love interest I was focusing on. Not sure what happened because it didn’t give me a choice. A scene that should have been with Crash in “My College Fantasy” instead threw me into a scene with Dorian. Disappointed me.

### 4/5 — Mostly great

*2026-07-16*

Most of the stories are pretty good and addictive, I really like not having tons of annoying ads and having to pay for choices and outfits. However, there aren’t many stories and I’ve literally read all they have to offer in one week. Another problem is that when they come out with new chapters, often they don’t have graphics and you can’t get the characters to say what you need them to say to complete the goals and move on with the reading for a few days after it comes out. All in all, a great idea with more work on bugs and selection needed.

### 3/5 — visual novel girlie

*2026-07-08, version 1.0.33*

i have played them all and rank it on par with my other favorite app, romance club. the chatting feature is by far my favorite and is what sets this app apart. as for the three star rating:

i have the yearly sub. i got it because i knew that even waiting for chapters to release, i could continue to chat with my favorite characters. i buy the extra slots, i buy the extra messages. i did it all because the conversations flowed so smoothly and made the experience feel larger than life.

that being said, since the latest update, the conversations have dropped completely. it doesn't even feel like i'm talking to the same characters anymore aside from some of their repetitive personality style benchmarks like recurring nicknames and little language inserts. i don't know if a filter was added, if there's coding that's intentionally walling us off from getting closer to the characters beyond the storyline, but it's a huuuuuge bummer. i get hit with harsh rejections, they are less likely to interact with me in a roleplaying fashion to allow for relationship building outside of the chapter updates. it's really frustrating. i used to get six or seven messages at a time from some characters and now i get two at most. i like the chatting feature because i'm a yapper, but they are hardly yapping back now and definitely not like they used to. the playful flirty, nsfw type chats are present but not enough for me to be as excited about this app as i was before.

i tried several different apps the day i downloaded this one and this one is the only one i kept out of about six or seven. now this one feels very much like those in terms of limitations and restrictions. i would gladly pay for a higher tier allowing more conversation freedom or opt in on a feature that allows the characters to send multiple messages / regenerate replies etc. and pay the difference for it.

the lack of a customization feature is also pretty disappointing in general. even if we can't go all out, choosing between skin tone and hair color like the other apps would be a game changer. again, i would pay for the option to customize because i know AI isn't cheap.

overall, i enjoy the game, i think that it's definitely a unique take on visual novels and i appreciate that every li route has a pretty unique ebb and flow thanks to the conversation style messaging.

since the messaging change, my original review has gone from ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ to ⭐️⭐️⭐️, but i am hoping to rekindle that first impression enjoyment soon. thanks💕

### 5/5 — Looks Great. Unfortunately…

*2026-07-06, version 1.0.33*

The artwork looks great but all of the characters you can play are female, with no stated option of playing as a male.

### 5/5 — BEST interactive story app

*2026-07-03, version 1.0.33*

There is absolutely no question that Lore is the best interactive story app out there. I started with the really simple ones (Chapters, Whispers, etc), then upgraded to the more complex stories with multiple branching pathways (Romance Club, Seven Hearts Stories, League of Dreamers, etc). Lore is an upgrade above those … a BIG upgrade.

Not only are the stories MUCH more complex and are written in English (this is a relief since the translations on other apps make them much clunkier than I’m sure they are in their native language), but they feature two modes of play that the others don’t. Yes, Lore has the Choose-Your-Own-Adventure style multiple-choice options just like the other apps. But what Lore adds are Goal Chats and Chat Mode.

In Goal Chats, your MC needs to obtain information, convince another character of something, improve a relationship, or generally move the plot forward, but you are using your own words to chat with an AI who is playing one of the characters. You get suggestions for the types of things you could write to advance to the next Goal, but how you choose to word them and how long you want to take to achieve each Goal is up to you.

At the end of every chapter you go into Chat Mode, which you can skip if you just want to move on with the story, or which you can use to chat to ANY of the characters you’ve been interacting with. The AIs playing these characters are quite good at staying in character, but you are able to advance your relationships with some or all of them just by talking to them. You can be snarky with them, find out more about their backgrounds, flirt outrageously, even get into some spicy sexting with your LIs.

Honestly, once I started to play Lore, my interest in the other five story apps I’d been playing just sort of fell away (I’ve even let Diamond Rushes pass by without participating!).

And because it works on a subscription, there are never keys or teacups or something to open the next chapter, and all choices are always free, no gems or donuts or what have you. There are no ads at all. Ever. And the app is updated with a new chapter for one of the ongoing stories every few days; no more waiting WEEKS or months for the next release (or longer because the translation is held up).

Try it. I signed up for a 3-day trial and bought an annual membership after only playing for a few hours!

### 5/5 — Amazing game

*2026-06-27, version 1.0.32*

My only feedback would be to make it so we can restart a chapter maybe? I made a wrong decision and it’s the end of a story now I have to go and re do the whole
Thing all over again.

### 5/5 — So good

*2026-06-25, version 1.0.32*

The only thing that can make it better would be m/m stuff

### 2/5 — Could use improvement

*2026-06-24, version 1.0.32*

Things that need reworked:

1.) I’d like the ability to start a chapter over whenever I’d want (not have to restart the story)

2.) The option to skip texting and advance when I want to (I don’t want to be forced to interact with characters that I don’t want to interact with)

3.) I’ve noticed some definite issues and lagging in the app (Says I’ve already started stories I never started, somehow using my full name instead of just my first name, lags in game, messages popping up but then disappearing)

4.) I’d like the opportunity to customize the character

### 4/5 — Avatar

*2026-06-18, version 1.0.32*

Good game so far, but why is there no option to change avatar before starting the story. That would make it much better.

### 4/5 — Intriguing

*2026-06-16*

I was skeptical about this app at first. I’ve been in love with the Choices app for a long time. And every time I’ve ever tried any similar apps, they just never seem to be as good. But Choices has really, really gone downhill in the last year or so. I’ve grown rather tired of it and it’s cheap AI writing. So when I came across this app, I really wanted to give it a try. I absolutely love that it’s just one simple monthly subscription price. No complicated gems or the simplest decisions that cost an arm and a leg to unlock. Just one flat fee and you get the whole story. I also really like that you get to text the characters in between chapters. It gives the story a much more realistic and personal feel to them. My one and only qualm though is that there just aren’t enough stories out right now. I am quite the bookworm and I tend to read a lot in one sitting. having to wait a whole week just for the next chapter to come out is a bit of a bummer. I might unsubscribe for a couple of months until a good amount of new chapters come out. But I think it has great potential. The stories are actually interesting, it doesn’t feel like it was written with flat, boring, lifeless, AI. It’s really, really cool. I am very glad I checked it out. And I can’t applaud enough over the flat monthly fee vs the crazy expensive cost for keys and gems like these other apps have.

### 5/5 — THE BEST STORY GAME

*2026-06-16, version 1.0.31*

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST GAME MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS I RAN THROUGH THE STORY TO FAST BECAUSE OF HOW HOOKED I GOT!! Absolutely 10/10

### 5/5 — So worth it!

*2026-06-14, version 1.0.31*

Honestly as an avid Episode and Choices lover, I love this app. While it’s still new and there are some bugs, the best part about it is the $9.99 a month subscription where you can pick any choice! The chatting is actually so real and so well developed and it’s super realistic. My only (selfish) complaint is that I want more stories and faster chapters!!! But otherwise, I love this game so much!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Seriously…

*2026-07-05, version 1.0.33*

The price models are constantly changing with no reason in sight. $17.99/mo and $9.99/wk is insane. Why the constant increases? Each story only releases two episodes per month as well. That’s a lot of money spent when stories have gone up to 20 chapters so far. I could potentially understand if stories were released quicker, but wow…

### 1/5 — I’d Rather Play Choices…

*2026-07-02, version 1.0.33*

Its a new app, so it is hard to compete with games that gave been around for awhile, but when deciding whether or not to pay 12.99/mo to play after the free trial, my decision is made simple by one design flaw: inclusion. You’re asked, what do i like love interest to look like, and skim through a bunch of similar looking white men with two black ones added in there, but YOUR character must be a white woman. I played under multiple different accounts and each time i was assigned a character that looked nothing like me. Im disappointed by the lack of diversity as that is what makes game play part of the fun. How can i “start my story” if no one who looks like me is invited to the game? Played for awhile but im uninstalling. The stories and gameplay are just as one dimensional.

### 1/5 — False advertising

*2026-06-29*

This is a subscription model. It is advertised as free but it is NOT! It’s an AI game where you get a couple chapters free and then they force you into buying a monthly subscription to continue to play. The story is good, but it’s not worth a monthly sub. I’d play if you could watch ads to play, pay for so many chapters/messages at a time, have a wait period to play a chapter, or be able to play without messaging characters. I understand they need to make money, but the sub price is ridiculous. As a former marketing major there are so many other ways to do this than what is actually happening. This game forces you to pay a large amount to even continue to play. I pay less for some of my streaming services.

### 1/5 — Uses AI

*2026-06-19, version 1.0.32*

I downloaded thinking it was just another romance story game but it’s actually AI 👎🏼 no thanks

### 1/5 — Pay to play

*2026-05-23, version 1.0.29*

I think this game is an amazing idea and could be so much fun but not getting to play unless you pay $12.99 a month is completely ridiculous. I understand not letting everything be free but the game is unplayable without a monthly subscription that most people don’t have the money to pay for. Would be so much better if there was a free version where you could still play but maybe only so many characters a day then if you pay you can play as much as you like. I really wanted to like this game but it cost way too much. Very disappointing.

### 1/5 — Prefer the diamond

*2026-05-23, version 1.0.29*

I’d honestly rather there being diamonds or any ingame currency then having to pay per month, cause paying 9 bucks for month feels crazy to me

### 1/5 — AI Slop

*2026-05-21, version 1.0.29*

Couldn’t get past the “art” style which is just static AI images. Uncanny valley and lifeless.

### 1/5 — Needs more player choice

*2026-05-16, version 1.0.29*

Lore has potential, but right now it feels way too limited. There are only eight stories available, and in every single one you’re forced to play as a female main character. That makes the app feel restrictive, especially for players who want to see themselves in the story.

Please add stories with male main characters, or even better, let players choose who they want to play as. More story options and better character choice would make the app much more enjoyable.

### 1/5 — Misleading

*2026-05-05, version 1.0.29*

“No ads, no premium choices, the first 2 chapters are free to play” first thing it asks for is billing information. I’m okay with paying for a fun game but not getting lied to. I would have tried the first 2 chapters if they were actually free and would have paid for the full app if it was good. But no thanks to subscriptions and no thanks to misleading ads

### 1/5 — AI Trash

*2026-04-19, version 1.0.28*

Was looking forward to this game as it promised no heavy in app purchases like Episode or similar games that make you purchase gems for a better storyline. It wasn’t until i came across the chat interface that i realized this game was nothing more than a sandbox for AI to gather information on how us humans chat and communicate. I’m not a fan of AI and i won’t be a part of this farce of a game that clearly has a larger agenda in regards to learning the nuances of human language and interaction for a much larger and more sinister agenda. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but don’t call me stupid.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Addictive, beautifully made, and actually worth the subscription 👀

*2026-08-20*

Lore is incredibly well-made, and you can really tell how much work has gone into both the stories and the overall content. The stories are genuinely engaging and addictive, and I love that you don’t have to spend gems every time you want to make a choice or progress the story. I think the subscription model is perfect for this kind of game.

My only complaint is that it’s too good at pulling you in 😂. When you’re completely immersed in a story and then reach the end of the available chapters, having to wait for the next one is a bit of a bummer!

Overall, I’m really enjoying it and can’t wait to see what comes next.

### 5/5 — Love love love

*2026-07-26, version 1.0.34*

This game is like episode but better in my opinion. No extra ads and you can make choices without paying so much money for diamonds etc. no complaints so far I’ve been hooked

### 5/5 — Glitchy

*2026-07-23*

Love this game, but since the new update it’s glitching in parts like when your in chat mode it keeps sending the same question and you can’t see the persons answers, have uninstalled but it’s made no difference

### 5/5 — Beats Choices!!

*2026-07-23*

I looove this game! It's so good and I love that you don't need gems or keys to play the story. You're just able to play and enjoy. My two favorite stories are Outbreak and My College Fantasy ! The stories are well written and kept me on my toes. My only qualm is that all the stories have a white main character...I wish I could be Black. Other than that I love it! Keep the thrillers and fantasy coming.

### 5/5 — Seriously the best interactive story game!

*2026-07-21, version 1.0.33*

I am a sucker for interactive stories, but hate spending money for choices for a fictional game (even if it’s fun lol). I love paying a flat (super affordable) monthly subscription to have every choice, story, etc. unlocked. 10/10 would recommend. Also, devs.. PLEASE MAKE A SEASON 2 OF MY COLLEGE FANTASY! I need more of Dorian.

### 5/5 — THE BEST IF

*2026-07-19, version 1.0.33*

you will not find another interactive story game out there. Yes, you have to pay the subscription. Play the free trial and you will be hooked. Only complaint: the stories are so good, you will blow through them and there’s not that many yet. But the chat features plus choices are AMAZING. WORTH IT. also the spice 🤌

### 5/5 — Love it

*2026-07-16, version 1.0.33*

I was very skeptical when I first downloaded it but honestly, I’ve been playing it for a while now it’s great you really do feel like you’re in the game. There are some little glitches, but nothing crazy most of the time I just swipe out and reopen it or I’ll delete the app and re-download it but everything says.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2026-07-15, version 1.0.33*

This is currently my favorite reading app. The characters are so well thought out. My only fault is we can’t choose how our MC looks. They do listen to readers and have added in more diverse characters. If we can’t have custom characters would love to see a Native American one!

### 5/5 — I hate I like this so much

*2026-07-11*

This game is deeply fun. The stories are well written. I really like the subscription model over buying gems. I love the texting between chapters, it makes it feel very immersive and like my choices actually matter. I normally hate AI, and I like it in this and that’s so deeply annoying. If you want to feel like the main character of a well written (but a little tropey) of a story try this game.

The cons: it’s AI responses in the texting. I am grappling with the environmental impact regularly, but also my one app is nothing compared to the waste of use many others have. With the AI often you have to word things so specifically for it to move on to the next chapter making your conversations sound absolutely insane.

For the developers: please let me reread chapters with the same choices I made. Chapters are getting released sometimes weeks later and there is no recap or ability to reread things to know where I was in the story.

### 5/5 — Worth the subscription

*2026-07-11, version 1.0.33*

Worth the subscription!! My only complaint is there are not more finished stories…. I might have to cancel my subscription until there are more stories… or maybe release chapters faster?

Also, just as an idea, make a story line like the show below deck! Or a mafia story. That would be fun!
