The Codex Every visitor you have met and every book the oracle has drawn for you now has a place of its own: portraits and backstories, the tier you drew and the day you drew it, and a quiet count of how much of the shop you have seen. Eight hundred and thirty visitors The door used to open on the same familiar few. It now opens on 830 souls, each with their own name, their own face and their own three words of mood — and 64 silhouettes instead of eight. Every visitor carries a story Not a line. A story. Each visitor has a five-chapter arc of about a hundred words a chapter — 2,490 chapters, every one of them translated into all six languages rather than left in English. Choose well and the next chapter opens. A room to read them in Storylines now have a screen built for reading: one chapter at a time, your place kept for you, at whatever text size you use everywhere else. Holidays that arrive on the right day Twelve visitors keep the calendar — The Penny Candle at Halloween, The First Foot on New Year's night, and ten more. Lunar New Year and Easter are worked out from the calendar now instead of being guessed at, so they land on the day they should. On iPad The app no longer stretches a phone across the screen. Home, the picker and the oracle sit side by side, and long text reads in a proper column. On iPad: write on it Mark up a prophecy card with Apple Pencil before you send it, and share it in a shape made for a wide screen rather than a tall one. Easier to see, easier to settle Tiers no longer rely on colour alone: each one carries its own symbol on the widget's seven-day strip and throughout the Codex. Reduce Motion has its own switch in Settings, and everything that drifts or shimmers obeys it. Share a prophecy as a page Share a reading and it can travel as a web page of its own — the tier, the book, and the sentence the oracle wrote. Off until you turn it on, only the readings you share, and you can take any of them down. Links that open the app An invite or a shop link shared from Lore now opens Lore, not Safari. Enchanted Reads, without another login Connecting your Enchanted Reads account now opens the Enchanted Reads app itself, where you are already signed in. Approve it there and you are back in the bookshop. Also: the offline screen appears when the shop cannot be reached, the shop runs cooler and smoother on older iPhones, and the guided tour is back. Thank you for keeping the bookshop alive. A visitor is always waiting. ### 1.3.0 — 2026-08-17 Today among friends The Friends tab now opens on a feed. Every friend who has chosen to be seen shows the tier the oracle drew for them today (Fated, Kindred, an Unexpected Path) with their streak beside it. Never the book. Never the prophecy. Those stay yours. Four reactions: a sparkle, a flame, a heart, a moon. One per friend per day, and tapping a different one replaces it. Enough to say "I saw that" without turning the shop into a chat room. You decide who sees you Appearing in your friends' feed is off until you turn it on, and you can hide your day from one particular friend without hiding from everyone. Ask to be told when a specific friend draws a Fated book, and the note arrives quietly, only ever for friends who can see you in the first place. Your public bookshop Turn it on and your shop gets a page of its own: your streak, the shape of your week in tier colours, nothing more. No name, no email, no titles, no prophecies. Off by default, and off again the moment you say so. A mark of your own Every keeper now has a sigil: a small emblem drawn from your own account, unlike anyone else's. It stands in for you in Settings and beside your name in your friends' feeds. Every room, everywhere Choosing a room used to recolour three screens out of sixteen. It now colours all of them: the Shop, your History, the Friends tab, Achievements, Settings, the oracle itself. Cards, chips and captions follow the room's own palette instead of staying stubbornly purple in a mahogany bookshop. Paid rooms gained the atmosphere they were always supposed to have: a slow band of the room's own light drifting across every screen, and the denser motes that Aurora, Underwater Grotto, Velvet Speakeasy, Stargazer's Loft and Phoenix Nest were quietly missing. Victorian, Japanese Tea Room and Forest Grove were the quietest rooms in the shop despite being the paid ones. They are not any more. All motion respects Reduce Motion. ### 1.2.0 — 2026-08-13 Lore 1.1 — the biggest update since launch. Sign in once, stay forever We rewrote how Sign in with Apple works. Open the app once, and you'll never see the login screen again until you choose to log out — exactly like Spotify or Reddit. Visitor Storylines Five named visitors now carry a five-chapter arc. Choosing the right book unlocks the next chapter, until you reach an illustrated epilogue worth sharing. Letters from past visitors A few times a month, an old visitor writes back. Their letter tells you what your book did to their life, presented on aged parchment in your inbox. Mystery Visitors Once in a while, someone arrives without mood tags or a clear face — only a single cryptic phrase. Choose with your heart. The right pick unlocks a unique achievement. The Forbidden Shelf On the first seven days of every month, three covered books appear. Open one and discover a rare prophecy tier you can't unlock anywhere else.
