The way to fix the issue with only being able to see your device when you on the same network as your camera system is to do the following: 1. You have to enable port forwarding on the ports that your camera uses. You have to do this on the settings of your Wi-Fi network. For example if you are a Verizon fios customer, then you would go to mfiosgateway.com, login, and port forward the ports that needed. 2. Look up the external IP address of your Wi-Fi by going to a website called ping.eu. Make sure you are connected to your Wi-Fi first. Your IP address should be shown on the top of the page. 3. Finally, go to where you would add your device. Put in your username and password. Then add the device by IP and put in the IP address from the previous step. The application worked great for 2 years but lately cameras don’t load I have to refresh several times before they come up. Also my system is 5 years old one of the cameras took water. I called LOREX to purchase a replacement camera and they told me my system is discontinued and their new cameras are not compatible with my system. And now their app will not work on LTE, you have to be at home connected to your home WiFi in order to get remote live viewing to work. What’s the use in that??? This happened about 3 years ago and it took more than a year for them to fix it. With the latest IOS update their app is broken again. When you call tech support they act like they are not aware of any issues. You never know what camera is working. Reboot solves the problem for awhile but not that long. Remote access should at least give you a remote reboot option on the app. I have 8 cameras and not often do I see all functioning properly. App seams to work well. Have had a Lorex LNR280 for over 11yrs now. Had the entire system professionally installed (didn’t want to drill holes in my house for the cameras), this was pre-wireless days. At least 4x a year from day one the system will not connect. Restart your system, reboot Internet modem, all the basics they give you on the site and nothing. Generally takes 3-4 calls to “resolve” and by “resolve” I mean after your 3-4 call, once they’ve even remotely accessed your computer to fix it to no avail, eventually YOU the user end up just doing something they never suggested and “oh, ok, that worked.” Customer support is horrible although call wait times have gotten 10x faster to pick up compared to when first purchased (scary thought ain’t it?!) it got to the point that I just learned way more about this stuff then I ever cared to and do fixes myself. However, after my last fix (myself!) ~6mo ago, once again, only can view remotely monthly when I’m home and phone connected to my Wifi. I have 3 other systems up and running on my phone for different locations. One app that covers 5 different NVRs all together abs can honestly say I’ve never had to trouble shoot all 3 apps/systems (8 totally different locations; 2 not even in the same county) as long as they’ve all been installed as often as I do with this one on a yearly basis. Get it together Lorex!!! ### 1/5 — Poor customer service *2021-05-22, version 4.2.2* I used to be able to view my cameras remotely using this app. Lorex customer service told me I can’t now because of a closed internet port. That is false. My internet has not changed. They also set me up so I can log in using a web browser to see my cameras. That doesn’t work either and requires a computer and of all things, Netscape (obsolete browser). I don’t understand why Lorex doesn’t just fix this app so it’s compatible with new the iOS. Called technical support many times but no use. Now after upgrade I know it was 32 bits security issue, which did not fit the minimal security requirement for many internet providers. Anyway, it is well overdue but solves the problem. I was planning to replace the whole system with other brand but now can stay with this old version for a while. It would be even better if you could change various settings through the app, like recording schedule or motion detection zones etc. But the app does what it says. I especially like that you can take a picture of what is on your camera onto your phone!
