### 4/5 — Lost Cities, love this game!

*2025-11-07*

The game is becoming slower and slower when trying to open it on iOS 18.7. Will there be any updates in the near future? Please, please update the app. I play this game quite frequently, so please don’t let it slip down into the App Store graveyard. 🐆 M
any thanks!

### 4/5 — Fantastic game with a few niggles

*2025-06-29, version 1.94*

Been playing for a long time but recently the app has developed some niggles.

There are ghost notifications that don’t have anything to do with moves.

Starting a new game after the current one finishes is unreliable. Sometimes the new game starts immediately and sometimes it takes up to a day for it to start.

Solving these issues will make this the perfect casual game.

### 4/5 — Lost Cities, love this game!

### 2/5 — Problem with opponent moves coming through

*2024-08-03, version 1.94*

For some time now I have problems with moves coming through to me rom my opponent.

I’m having to go to the current game list to kick start the move that was made hours or days ago to appear and it takes around 30-40 second a once I have done that instead of just displaying when I hit the continue button.

This has happened before some years ago so not sure if it’s because a bug has reappeared or relates to the fact we always continue to start a new game - we currently have two games running but have had three.

Disappointing. I deleted the app and then re-downloaded it but no difference. 🙁😕

### 4/5 — Needs notifications

*2024-04-26*

Great game but it needs notifications. I would like a badge option so that I would know when one of my opponents has played. Seems like that’s pretty basic and common on most games. As it is, I have to just check randomly to see if it’s my turn and the app is a bit slow compared to others when I do that. Maybe a quick update?

### 4/5 — Great, needs iPad support

*2023-12-29, version 1.94*

I would have given a 5 but it just needs to be a little smoother and have iPad support. Also, there should be a replay of the opponents last play so I can see what they did.

Great overall though! Thanks!

### 4/5 — Buggy for me in 2023

*2023-09-24, version 1.94*

I love this app! I would gladly pay good money for a new version that works better.

The version in the store today prevents me from creating games with my two friends who still play, which is super sad :(

### 3/5 — Glitched Game

*2023-07-07*

This is definitely a fun to play game, but needs a few improvements. There are also glitches that were found by my friend where in the screenshot she has two blue eights, and I have played a silver to while there is another silver two in the discard pile. So this jeopardizes the integrity of the game.

Developers, please feel free to respond, and I will send you the screenshot with proof.

### 3/5 — Fun game, could be better developed

*2022-11-22*

Plays well against computer. Quick easy game, wish it had the option for 3 rounds. Also a glitch when online opponent withdraws, the record goes against me! Wish there was a better way to initiate a game that requires an online opponent to finish out immediately.

### 3/5 — Should be an online turn timer

*2022-05-31, version 1.94*

Easy to get disconnected from a game when someone is taking 10 minutes for each move

### 3/5 — Make a move….

*2022-02-26*

Does the system automatically forfeit you if you don’t play in a versus game for a week? I’ve been waiting on people to take a move for 2 weeks….in multiple games. However, the only way I can get them out of my pending games is for me to forfeit, which doesn’t help my stats at all. Maybe an update that could be made? Otherwise - love this game! Would also like to see more challenges introduced!

### 3/5 — Good game but…

*2022-02-24*

I am currently playing a game in versus mode and my opponent takes a minimum of 45 minutes to make a move. At this rate it will take more than a month to finish the match and I will also point out that my opponent has a skill level of 70%, so I imagine it’s high because people have forfeited/surrender their game. As such, this abuse highlights the need for a timer and technical or customer service contact to report such sportsmanship. Other than these flaws the game is great.

### 4/5 — I can’t play two player games properly

*2021-11-23, version 1.93*

App is buggy, it will not let me surrender a game.

### 2/5 — Lost all player data

*2021-07-06, version 1.93*

Been playing this for a few months. Played HUNDREDS of times. I open the app and all my play history is gone.
The AIs have stats on how many wins/loses you have against them, so starting over feels like a huge burn.
I wrote an email and have never heard back. I am disappointed

### 4/5 — Great game, but online play needs improvement

*2020-09-13, version 1.93*

The game is quite fun and an interesting twist on deck games. A lot of the ability to win or lose is based a lot on luck rather than skill when players are evenly matched. What I don’t like is when playing against others online there is no option to play a timed game, so a game can have hours or days between a single move if the other player wants. Works well if playing against someone you know, but not for playing other random players online.

### 4/5 — Good game, bad auto-match

*2020-05-12*

Why is it that when i was winning a game with 2 cards left, the other player quit, and yet it counts as a loss for me? Also, there seem to be players who never take their turns and wait for you to quit so it counts as a win for them. It’s ridiculous. This player “masced” seems to be spamming the auto-match with new game requests. Could the developers please address these issues? It would be nice to get to play the game with other people who actually want to play and not just grief.

### 4/5 — iPad issue resolved

*2020-04-13, version 1.93*

Now works on iPads!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Worst card draw I’ve seen in any iOS board game

*2024-08-29*

I love this game to bits. I have my physical copy at home and my friends and I honestly think this is one of the best board games one can have. But the card draw in this game is horrendous. It honestly feels like the game is out to make it as miserable a game as possible for you. And make you lose.
It has frustrated me to the point of not wanting to play this game anymore. I’d love to recommend this game on iOS, but I can’t. It is frustratingly painful.

### 1/5 — Game was great when it worked!

*2024-06-04*

Did support for this game just go away? Since the iOS 17.5 update notifications are sporadic at best, it takes minutes to load my turn if it does it at all. Sometimes I have to open the app multiple times and wait 2-5 minutes just for it to show that it’s my turn and it let me play. Sometimes I will just happen to go into a game and it’s waiting on me. For a paid game I expect better support than this.
Prior to these issues, this was a 5 star app and game for sure.

### 1/5 — No pass and play

*2022-02-17, version 1.94*

I want to play this with my wife or kids or a friend but I cannot because they need their own device.

### 1/5 — RIGGED

*2021-03-01*

It is hard to put into words just how rigged this game is. After close to 200 games against the computer I was top five in the world. In other words I’m no slouch at this game. After that I went on to lose 24 out of 30 games against the computer. It was laughable how many times I would wait on a card until I just could not wait any longer...and as soon as I played- the card I was waiting on would MIRACULOUSLY appear from the deck. At one point over the course of a few games I counted this happening nine out of nine times… It got to the point that it was hilarious! not even maddening anymore. RIGGED
If I were you, I would only play against real people online. At least in that situation both sides would be Rigged, ha ha

### 1/5 — Unplayable

*2020-04-07, version 1.92*

I love the analog version of this game, but the app version is unplayable.
I am not able to select and play the cards in my hand (which is the very first thing you do in the game). What’s even worse is that the tutorial dialog becomes inpatient because the player is seemingly not playing, and the lines are:
“Come on! Get on with it!”
“You can also tap the cards!”
“You’re having trouble. *sighs* Okay. You have... (continues to explain the obvious rules)”

I hope this will be fixed soon.

### 1/5 — Broken

*2020-04-06, version 1.92*

I can’t even drag a card into the board...

### 1/5 — Broken!

*2020-02-16, version 1.92*

Can’t even drag cards - I demand a refund!

Update: I have contacted the developer and they were still unable to fix the bug.

### 1/5 — No pass and play??

*2020-02-09, version 1.92*

Worthless without pass and play.

### 1/5 — App does NOT work!

*2020-01-31, version 1.92*

Love this card game, but the APP IS A DIFFERENT STORY. The App starts up fine, but as soon as I choose an opponent and start the actual gameplay, it freezes up and won’t let me select any cards or play the game at all. Developers please help!!! Thanks.

### 1/5 — Can’t play

*2019-07-27, version 1.80*

Game crashes every time Game Center connects, can’t play. Waste of money.

Also if the game didn’t crash, why doesn’t have pass and play?

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great game

*2025-06-06, version 1.94*

Still simple, still well made, still fun to play.

### 5/5 — Fun and Addictive

*2023-10-12, version 1.94*

I’m blind. It’s fun to play with my sighted mom. Lately, I have been going against computers.

### 5/5 — Great game, but a tiny issue, and some cool suggestions

*2023-09-02*

I love this game. It is lots of fun. I will say, whenever I turn the music up if you will or turn it on, as a voiceover screen reader user, I wish that when I would swipe across the screen, the music would not cut out as voiceover is speaking. I’m not sure why it does that. if there’s something technical that you are not able to get around, I can understand. But if possible, perhaps this could be fixed in a future update. Nevertheless, it is a great game. Here is a cool suggestion. I wish that people can send voice clips online. So not only do you send emoticon’s before drawing a card, you can send a voice clip. That way, people can make taunts to each other or what not. It would be really cool. and maybe, perhaps, it would be cool to make your own computer player. Just for fun. Don’t know how possible that would be to implement, but there are some thoughts for you. Again, great game.

### 5/5 — Super fun and easy to play

*2023-04-16, version 1.94*

I love this game since my first time playing it! Please add the 6th Expedition. Great game!

### 5/5 — Great game

*2022-09-03, version 1.94*

This has been one of the longest games I’ve played on my phone. Entertaining against the computer but the real fun is competing against other players. I keep about 8 games going and play every day or two.

Others complain about the timing but I don’t think they understand how the online play works: each player has three days to play your turn; afterward the opponent can end the game and it counts as a victory for them. So it’s fun for the long game!

### 5/5 — A great find for my mobile.

*2022-08-15, version 1.94*

Although the game has been around for 15 years or so and I am a self proclaimed game geek, I had not played this game before downloading the App’ a few days ago. Within minutes of playing, I won my first game; albeit on the first level.
What makes this game so good for the mobile in particular is the fact that a full game is over in minutes, unless of course you choose to ruminate and cogitate for long periods which shouldn’t be necessary.
Now, okay I won my first game, but on going onto the second level I got put back in my place very quickly. I have won a couple but my losses are significantly greater. I’m a Noob okay; so suffering defeat is a part of the process.
The graphics on my IPhone 13 ( basic) are good and pleasant to play on. The App has recently been updated for OIS 15 which will hopefully deal with any earlier issues.
I played Carcassonne by the Code Monkeys online for two years on a daily basis and never had any issues. Hopefully they will continue to maintain Lost cities .
I haven’t tried to play online yet as I need to improve my play first. As the game is perhaps no longer topical in view of its age I don’t hold any great expectations for online activity levels although I have a female friend ( behave ) showing as a current player on the Play centre.
For the price this game shouldn’t be overlooked. Even if you despise it you will only have lost circa £1.79 which is about the price of a postage stamp these days.

### 5/5 — I can’t put it down!

*2022-01-08*

I was intrigued when I saw in the app description that this app was voiceover friendly. I am legally blind and have not been able to play the physical version this game as easily as I used to be able to. Playing on a tablet enables me to zoom in on card numbers. When I tested this game with my screen reader, I was expecting the buttons to be read, and maybe my cards. But I was astonished when my screen reader read EVERYTHING, including the lanes and the opponents plays, moves and scoring! I could play this game in the dark, which is to say, when my eye is in a lot of pain, I can still play because I don’t have to strain to look at the screen. Thank you so much for making this game truly and completely accessible. ONLY suggestion for the app itself would be to include a pass and play option.

### 5/5 — Fun card game!

*2021-09-23, version 1.93*

Neat game! Easy to learn, fun to play VS computer or taking turns with opponent in Game Center. As in any card game there’s the luck of the draw, but also skill and strategy too. Great game!

### 5/5 — Fun and challenging

*2020-11-21*

I've quickly become addicted to this game. It seems as if the AI opponents each use slightly different tactics, and I find auto-matched players fairly often who are interested in playing through a game in one sitting. Very enjoyable, and I appreciate the effort to make it voiceover-accessible. It's working beautifully for me.

### 5/5 — really well-designed game

*2020-04-12, version 1.93*

I think this is one of the most frustrating games, but the VoiceOver support is brilliantly done, and a lot of people play it. So this is really great work, thank you.
