### 5/5 — A Clever Twist on Deckbuilders

*2026-04-10, version 1.48.18*

Lost for Swords is a really clever take on the deckbuilder formula. Instead of just playing cards from your hand, your deck actually forms the dungeon itself. Enemies, loot, and movement are all tied to how the cards are laid out, so you’re effectively navigating the board your deck creates. It’s a unique idea that clicks once you get a feel for it.

The early tutorial leans a bit more puzzle-heavy, but the game opens up quickly into a more flexible and rewarding system.

Everything about the game feels polished and thoughtfully designed. It’s clear a lot of care and passion went into making it.

I also appreciate that it plays in portrait mode, which feels rare these days. It works great for quick sessions, but it’s just as easy to sit down and play for a longer run.

If you’re into deckbuilders and want something that feels genuinely different, this is definitely worth checking out.

### 5/5 — Great game

*2026-03-31, version 1.48.18*

Amazing game with a lot of thought and creativity put into the enemies, how the abilities interact, and how your cards play out.

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2026-03-31, version 1.48.18*

I’m always on the hunt for a new deck builder, and this is a good one! Love that it can be played in portrait. Very generous on what you get for free, but the full unlock is more than reasonable. Really hope the game continues to get updates and evolve

### 5/5 — Fun and addictive

*2026-03-28, version 1.48.18*

Easy to play, tutorial well made and enjoyed playing game once I understood what I was meant to do.

### 5/5 — A great game to play in free time

*2026-03-05, version 1.48.18*

This game has taken me months to beat and it’s got alot of replay-ability. I don’t often pay for apps but this one was certainly worth it! It’s simple enough to understand but it takes a while to really understand how all the different cards and effects work together. The RnG aspect means that your gonna have to learn basically every type of card. This one will be a favorite for a long time.

### 5/5 — Fun little game

*2026-02-28, version 1.48.18*

Each deck is different. Solving the rooms is fun as the challenge level increases. Like everything about this game except I WANT MORE!!! Great job Dev.!

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2026-02-22, version 1.48.18*

A very fun and enjoyable game. The game is only a demo until you pay 6 dollars, but it is well worth the price.

### 5/5 — Phenomenal

*2026-02-18, version 1.48.18*

I am beyond impressed with this game and I hope it gets the most attention possible.

### 5/5 — The game I’ve been searching for

*2026-02-18, version 1.48.18*

Been searching for a light road like dungeon crawler style game. I wasn’t 100% on the graphics going in but overtime. I’ve definitely come to enjoy the style. The gameplay is really fun. I’ve only done the free stuff, but I’m more than happy to pay for the full game and support the developer. I’ve also been telling all my friends and everyone and I know about this game. I would love to see more tower/dungeons added in the future. I love the idea of new classes being added on later, but I think what is the best part about the game is getting to new dungeons and levels.

### 5/5 — Incredible game!

*2026-02-14, version 1.48.18*

I don’t ever write reviews, even for food, but this was an app game like no other. I felt genuine accomplishment in completing it and have upmost respect for the developers. It’s easy to learn and super entertaining. I loved creating OP builds with different trinkets and weapon choices. Moments I thought my run was doomed would end with a smile as I vanquish my foes with tactical brilliance developed by this game. Worth every penny. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Phenomenal-you’ll buy or delete

*2026-02-09, version 1.48.18*

Great roguelike with an easy learning curve. A definite for and rogue like fan. You’ll either like it enough to get to through the trial and buy it or delete it before you get there. Well worth it.

### 5/5 — Great game, but some really annoying balancing

*2026-02-05, version 1.48.18*

I love the game, and even with the annoyances I’m going to give 5 stars, but the RNG of it needs guardrails. Sometimes cursed items spawn in unreachable corners. Or I get a quest to get 3 keys, but only 1 is even available on the level. Things that are impossible shouldn’t be included.

### 5/5 — Awesome Game Very Underrated

*2026-02-03, version 1.48.18*

I downloaded this game on my other I pad and I didn’t know it only had 18 reviews. This game definitely needs more recognition. I see why people may find it hard but for you, I tell you this: the undo button

### 5/5 — Fun little game

*2026-01-29, version 1.48.18*

Each deck is different. Solving the rooms is fun as the challenge level increases. Nicely done game.

### 5/5 — Should have to pay

*2026-01-24, version 1.48.18*

Haven’t had this much fun from a ftp game with no micro-transactions or ads in a long time. Honestly let me know where to donate because you guys deserve it.

### 5/5 — No contest - Best Mobile Game

*2026-01-09, version 1.48.18*

I love deck-builders. I love rogue-lites. In this game, the genres are blended perfectly, each run allowing your deck to develop enough to get the sense of triumph without overstaying its welcome. And the clever combination of spatial manipulation with deck draw/discard mechanics is the sweet sauce that keeps you coming back for another run. I’ve been playing this game for years, and I’m still encountering novel combinations. And the generosity of the developer to provide so much excellent content, both in quality and quantity, with no ads? Mind-blowing.

### 5/5 — 10/10 One of the greatest mobile games of all time

*2026-01-05, version 1.48.18*

The amount of depth this game has for being free is nuts, and not having ads is just the cherry on top. As someone who has spent 100s of hours playing 100s of different mobile games I’m extremely picky when it comes to mobile games.

This game is without a doubt 10/10 and rivals Balatro in its ability to eat away my time. And to the developers if you see this, please add more content! I’m not involved in the community but I would gladly pay for it and I am sure others would as well.

### 5/5 — Why the f do I have to PAYYYYYYYY FOR THE REST OF THE FILPEN GAME!!!!

*2026-01-03, version 1.48.18*

It’s UNBRLEVABLE IIIIIIII I love this game and I hate that I have to pay for the rest of the game why 😢😭😕🙁☹️😫😩🥺😢😭

### 5/5 — Great game

*2026-01-02, version 1.48.18*

This is a solid card builder game. Zero ads. Intuitive game play.

### 5/5 — Great game

*2026-01-01, version 1.48.18*

Great game with good mechanics, combat, and unique enemies one of the best games I’ve played on mobile. Some enemies are a bit frustrating such as the void priest deleting all your weapons and rat conjurer forcing a back track plus a lack of accessibility features but a extremely well crafted game overall. 9.5/10

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Fun until you are forced to pay!

*2025-10-31, version 1.47.9*

This game was fun, I won’t deny that. However, after playing for a while and figuring the game out this little guy comes out and says to pay the continue to play the game. Not to pay but to progress through the game which I won’t do now. I would’ve paid for the game in the beginning had it cost but not giving me a free trial disguised as a free game.

### 1/5 — Nonsense

*2025-10-17, version 1.47.9*

Rules made a 5 year old can move around enemies endlessly but picking up something within a single tile gets you attacked?

### 1/5 — This is a trial

*2025-10-06, version 1.47.9*

This game is pretty good. My gripe is that this presents itself as a full game but after the second level you are forced to pay for the full version. This feel deceptive as this game is not labeled as a trial.

### 1/5 — Should have checked in app purchases

*2025-06-25, version 1.47.9*

Not paying 5$ for this game. It’s decent, but no.

### 1/5 — This game can be way too hard!

*2025-05-08, version 1.45.0*

The game can be way to hard at some points, if you don’t wanna rage quit play another game! And you have to beat all the levels on hard mode to progress in the story! DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME! PLAY LITERALLY ANY OTHER GAME!

### 1/5 — Was passiert hier?

*2025-04-21, version 1.44.1*

*2025-01-14, version 1.42.1*

Недоступна покупка как полной игры, так и компонентов по отдельности, поиграть в полную версию никак не получится.

### 2/5 — Brutal

*2025-11-10, version 1.47.9*

At first I loved the game. It was a fun mixture of challenging depending on luck and the deck you built. I enjoyed it enough to buy the full game. Well that ruined my review. It gets brutal. I opened up the last tower by luck early on by finding the sword. I put a lot of time trying to beat it. Then I cheated and unlocked all cards, all decks and that didn’t help. I got as low as changing the difficulty. I barely survived with the rogue with a combination of poison and damage lowering. I can’t seem to get even close with the mage or warrior and this is with all the difficulty in my favor. I don’t know, I like a challenge but y’all went a little extreme on the last tower. It honestly makes it loose some of the fun.

### 2/5 — only a demo….

*2024-12-14, version 1.41.4*

have to pay like 5.99 to play full game after beating first two towers

### 3/5 — From Newgrounds to the phone .

*2025-11-01, version 1.47.9*

Played it on newgrounds. Surprised to see it had a mobile version ; but then again —— it runs on mobile web browsers well enough without any difficulty at all.

No doubt this game will still have the same charm as it always does. Keep up the good work. Only problem I had was that it was disguised a free trial more than an actual product of the game. I would still pay for it nonetheless , but yikes. That kinda veered me off a bit.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Very Fun!

*2026-09-06, version 1.48.18*

I liked this game a lot. I liked the spin on the RPG game with instead of turn based combat you use strategy and wits to win. The rougelike elements in the game was also a nice touch. Overall amazing game! (I’m thinking of getting the full version!)

### 5/5 — fun game

*2026-08-24, version 1.48.18*

i tried it and bought it, worth it

### 5/5 — Honestly surprised

*2026-08-19, version 1.48.18*

I thought this was gonna be meh, but it’s actually a really clever game. I hope the developer makes more content like this in the future. The first few levels are free to play, and then there’s a point where if you want to do the rest of the game it’s $5; IMO worth though. Little bit of a learning curve once you get to the Rogue :)

### 5/5 — Perfect mix of simple and complex

*2026-08-07, version 1.48.18*

Love this game, it’s got lots of play value and I’m always excited to go the next room and solve its mini puzzle. I really like all the hero’s mechanics and how they DRASTICALLY change how you handle a room!

### 5/5 — Great little Roguelike

*2026-07-14, version 1.48.18*

I’ve really enjoyed playing this game, totally worth the full game unlock. The grid based actions and combat are easy to understand, but require a good amount of planning and optimization. It’s just the right amount of tactics that requires careful consideration, but isn’t brain meltingly complicated. It’s great that there is an undo action, in case you don’t yet understand how all the mechanics will work out on a given turn. The different characters play differently and provide a good amount of variety.

And then, on top of the standard campaign for each character there is a custom map builder that allows players to build puzzles for other’s to solve. Looking forward to any more towers and enemies that can be added to the main campaign.

I legitimately love this game. The sheer amount of possible runs means it'll never get old, and it has a (somewhat) simple combat system plus hundreds of cards to change the gameplay. I don't know about anyone else but I call that putting in effort.
I have not bought the full game, and I would very much like to.

[I deleted this part because it seems there already ARE community-made levels. Please tell me if I am correct.]

### 5/5 — Reviews are accurate

*2026-07-09, version 1.48.18*

I’ll echo a few reviews I read before giving this game a try - you’ll know pretty quickly if you want to support the developer by purchasing the full game, or continue on with your life without it. The core mechanic of the deck works really well - I was a bit skeptical at first, but after a few runs it clicked and I totally see the genius behind the random assortment of weapons/armor you could have in a given room. It allows for fine-tuning the number of cards you have available in a room, which adds a layer of difficulty if you want it.

“Do I take the “easy” room, where I have access to 10 of my cards and 4 enemies? Or do I try to get through a room where I only have 8 cards for 5 enemies - to get an extra copy of small key? (Which increases the number of remove/upgrades to your deck?)”

Fantastic stuff, and great design! Thanks for making it! (I bought the full game after a few sessions)

### 5/5 — Engaging Turn-Based Puzzle Roguelike

*2026-07-06, version 1.48.18*

Lost for Swords is a really interesting and tactical turn-based game. It honestly took me a little bit to get used how to play, as the controls on iPhone aren’t *super* intuitive. But once I got the hang of it, I bought the full game. It’s really engaging and hard to put down. But if you DO put it down, it saves your progress, which is awesome. There are tons of variables, and with them, various ways to solve the game. There’s also an “undo” button (conditional!) that’s really helpful if you are trying to figure out the best solution. Definitely recommend to those who enjoy in-depth puzzles and tactical games (who don’t mind dying! 😄)

### 5/5 — Unique Addictive Rogue-lite Deckbuilder

*2026-06-10, version 1.48.18*

This game is really cool. The four different classes provide totally different gameplay within the same mechanics. The mechanics are unique in a way that discourages too small a deck and too large a deck (with exceptions of course). Totally worthwhile purchase. I was a little put off by the presentation at first so if you are too stick it through to at least the second tower and see how you feel.

### 5/5 — Great pacing

*2026-05-22, version 1.48.18*

The game feels slightly more elevated than your average mobile game, but not too complex where it feels overwhelming. The challenge and difficulty factor is appropriate for a mobile game, the randomness and floor generation really makes you think strategically, and the artwork looks great.

My only complaint is that the text can be a bit small to read, but other than that, it’s a fun game!
