Made to look like the TV show but soon in your fighting a zombie. ### 3/5 — Amazing game, BUT… *2025-07-05* The graphics are immersive and the mechanics are satisfying, but basic QOL features are paywalled behind the most exploitative model, a weekly subscription, rather than the industry standard of a one time purchase for things like extra building queues. Why paywalling QoL features hurts players 1. Undermines game enjoyment QoL features like auto-collect, sorting, and crafting on the go are expected conveniences in survival games. Requiring a weekly fee for them forces players into a “pay to avoid tedium” model, not “play better”  . 2. Financial friction and FOMO Subscriptions are recurring costs—easily overlooked until you feel the pinch. Worse, battle pass-style timers (like limited inventory queues or event windows) pressure players into paying just to keep up. That’s less about choice and more about stress. 3. Alienates non-paying users Even smartphone gamers who prefer upfront purchases (like $5–15 premium titles) avoid freemiums with hidden charges  . QoL features are part of the core experience, not optional extras worth a weekly fee. ⸻ 🚫 A better alternative • One-time purchase DLC: A $5–10 bundle for QoL tools is transparent, and less likely to feel exploitative. • Earnable or ads‑supported unlocks: Let players unlock basic QoL features via gameplay milestones or reasonable ad views. • Tiered subscription: Reserve real paywalls for cosmetic or endgame content, not gameplay convenience. ⸻ 🔚 Bottom line: Locking core QoL tools behind a subscription doesn’t enhance the game—it hijacks it. It turns a hardcore-ish survival adventure into a grindy wallet trap. Making QoL features pay-to-access signals “you must pay to enjoy the basics,” and that alienates both dedicated and casual players alike. But usually it’s a min then crash I have to keep reopening. If it wasn’t for that I’d like the game very much. But I wish they wouldn’t make us do home invasions just to progress in the story.
