That does work but also means they know and haven’t fixed. ### 2/5 — Poorly Designed *2025-08-09* Needs: * Faster startup to grill with cook in progress. If I switch away it often reenters from the smoke animation and advertisements (probably because the app crashed in the background) * Grill should remember temperatures over time and app should be able to display a chart of this cook with the captured temps (relative to uptime) * Probe temp target Set has a bugs * Remotely turning off grill shouldn’t stop reporting chamber/probe temps - the grill still has power and can still make/report the readings. ### 1/5 — This app is trash *2025-07-21, version 1.1.4* The grill will never connect to the app Bluetooth or WiFi it is absolute garbage ### 2/5 — App Works, but can’t listen to music. *2025-07-18, version 1.1.4* I’m not sure why this wasn’t covered in the update but every time you open the app it pauses my music. Called customer service; he was awesome. He walked me through every possible fix. Then I read the app reviews. The app is terrible. I’m taking mine back and I’ll never buy a Pit Boss / Louisiana Grill again. Thanks for wasting my time. ### 2/5 — Works well for monitoring and changing temps *2025-06-15* Could use an update! Since it’s already connected to my phone, I should be able to set high and low alarms that alert me if something unusual is happening with my temps. Also to be able to record and chart a cook would be nice. And the grill needs a pause temp function so if you open the lid to wrangle a big brisket around or apply sauce to a bunch of ribs, it doesn’t feed a bunch of pellets immediately and cause a big heat spike. ### 1/5 — Garbage app, decent grill *2025-04-20, version 1.1.4* I like my Louisiana Grill and the customer service has been good. However the app is a dysfunctional steaming pile of trash. It constantly has Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity issues. Sometimes the app won’t open at all. I’ve offloaded/reloaded multiple times. Took 2.5 hours to get to work. 3 uninstalls and reinstalls. And then once it worked you better turn the app on when you star prep to warm up. I peeled all the potatoes for Easter dinner between opening it and it allowing me to use it. Then I prepped the turkey between it being usable and connecting to the actual smoker. This thing is on the slow boat from china. And it’s the same thing every time you want to use it. Constantly disconnects from WiFi, only one of the meat probes is programmable and it doesn’t alert me when the meat reaches temp. For a couple thousand bucks you get an app that I can’t hardly review because I can’t reliably connect to my grill. This after spending 45 minutes with Customer Service. Honestly had I known this, I probably would’ve invested my money elsewhere. Sometimes. Often you have to do it a couple times for it to take. None of the notices work for me. There isn’t a spot on the app to look up what a notice was for on the odd occasion you receive one. No target temp prob reached notification that I see so not sure what the point of setting probe temp targets is for. Often these notices randomly appear the next day. Needs a lot of work. ### 1/5 — Unusable *2026-03-08* The app worked the first couple of times. The initial set up was rather difficult, but after that, it worked to a degree. Lately, you are unable to even login to connect to your grill. I attempted to use the live chat feature on the app, only to find out that doesn’t work either, and there is no update available. Now I am completely unable to wirelessly connect to my grill to monitor temperatures of the probes. I bought this for on the road to remote monitor from my booth, when i smoke, it never connects not at my home not on the road on wifi, grill works great but don’t think your getting a wifi controller, your not, just headaches and frustration. ### 1/5 — Grill ap is terrible. So you gotta be in range, it defeats the whole purpose. Same complaints for years… app is never updated nor bug fixed… avoid Louisiana, their app just doesn’t work. ### 1/5 — Runaway temps! *2025-09-25* Hi, I purchased a brand-new Louisiana Grill LG800FL. I’ve only used it about five times. Every time I set it to 225°F, the temperature will hold for a few hours, then the display starts flashing, the timer flashes, the grill beeps, and the temperature spikes out of control, climbing up to 600°F. At that point, I have to shut it off and restart. I clean the firepot and ash after every use, the grill is level, and I’ve confirmed the auger and fan are both operating normally. I’ve also cleaned the temperature probe inside the grill, but the problem persists. Since this grill is new, the RTD probe or the controller is clearly defective. Please advise on a warranty replacement or next steps. Nobody is returning my emails!!! ### 1/5 — Designed By An Idiot *2025-08-29* This app has lost sight of what it’s supposed to do. Remove the shopping, and other marketing garbage and just let me control my grill better. And stop it from taking over the damn audio. In fact, I just turned the temperature, of it, up to 250° from my kitchen table in the house!! I can see the temperatures of the probes too! This is fantastic!! Thank you!! My original 1 star review: I’ve spent hours worth of 10 minute intervals and I can’t get past 42-44% most of the time. I’ve gotten as high as into the 60% area, but only after choosing to go without a WiFi connection. I’m thinking that they need to come up with a plan B way for us to update our control panels, even if they have to eat some freight of us sending our controls to them for updating. ### 5/5 — Great app! *2023-05-08* Awesome update! New app works great and super easy to set up. Love being able to track what I’m grilling when I’m away from the grill or even at a neighbor’s house or the store. ### 4/5 — App Fixed but takes patience *2025-06-28* App is working for my new LG800BL grill. Setup took time on iOS - app would take 2 minutes to figure out if there was an internet connection (wait a long time if you see the flame icon!). Once I eventually waited through several of the steps I arrived at the “updating your grill” screen. Once update of grill was completed app was no longer slow. Bottom line it works. If you are a previous user still having trouble I recommend making sure VPN is off, recheck. If you still have issues try deleting app, restarting phone, restarting router, unplugging grill and plug back in, then proceed as if first time setup. ### 4/5 — Works well enough, features missing *2024-06-03, version 1.0* What could make this app great are the following, relatively easy to code features: - A history graph for the past 24h on the main grill temp and all the external probes, one sample per minute is amply enough. - Based on the past progression of the temperature on a probe and its set target temperature, give a time estimate of approximately when the target temp should be reached. This estimate would be revised every 5 minutes, of course, to account for varying conditions. This would be very useful for readjusting grill temperature for low&slow cooks when the cook is in its "stable & under way" stage. ### 4/5 — Works fine for me *2023-06-05, version 1.0* It all works: bluetooth, wifi connection. Setting probes, setting timers and temp. Another review mentioned not being able to set probe temp, but if you are in the settings for the probe, clicking the temp should pop up your keypad to enter a new temp, not as intuitive as it could be but it works. My suggestion for improvement would be a time series graph so you can see temps of probes over time with a estimating line to your probes set temp so you can estimate the time ### 4/5 — Has the right look. *2023-06-04, version 1.0* Need work on the notifications of cook set temps that’s pretty much the whole point of having a WIFI grill. Also, the icons on the top centre don’t seem to work. The app would be much better if you could trend cook temperatures on a graph and have notification options when temperature gets too low. 2 times now I’ve ran out of pellets and the temperature got down to 50 degrees.
