Over the years of being a stay-at-home mom of our two beautiful children, my husband worked to provide the only source of income. When our children became more independent and with my husbands initial support I started college. I wanted to be able to help support our family financially by doing something that also helps others. From the very beginning, I gave it all to GOD knowing that He has a plan, my faith and trust is what got me through college. When I started college at the beginning of 2013 as a full-time student, I received my AA in General Education last year. As doors closed and others opened, I was able to go one more year to then receive my AS in Business. I look back now and realize just how much time was sacrificed while attending college from our marriage and family. The problem is now, we both have acknowledged that we have lost nearly every aspect of our marriage, and that we both are ready to start working on it. After I received an email from Love & Respect, I forwarded it to my husband, downloaded the app, and started listening to the podcasts. He has been able to listen to a few of the podcast while at work when he is able to. However, I feel that we need something that we can read, take notes, share, and work on together. We are not ready to give up, but I feel we both need to be on the same book, same chapter, and the same page to make our marriage whole and as one again. Thank you for your dedication and wisdom in helping others. If you are open to change and you desire to strengthen and/or save your marriage then the Love and Respect resources are not only the best but also the most effective. I read about them on the Facebook page after you had done about 15 podcasts...I then downloaded the app and listened to them almost daily til I caught up. I look forward to each of the upcoming episodes. I've also recommended the app to my parents and friends. The insight y'all provide is wonderful. I've been married for nearly 5 years and read the book in pre-marital counseling and have SO appreciated all that I've learned - namely the pink/blue glasses concept of "not wrong, just different" as well as helping me remember my husband is a "good willed man"! It has made a huge difference for me as a wife and mother and even daughter to hear reasons behind mine and my husband’s behavior. Every time I listen I am enlightened, edified, and encouraged, and left with actionable advice I can - and do - use. God uses their words to soften my heart and make a way for Him to do His work in me. Going through and working on these things, albeit on my own, has helped me “get out of God’s way” so He can do the work He needs to do in my husband. He lived with his dad and brother and struggles with what to do with women in family life. Especially starting porn at 12. Although he was entertaining before marriage he has no grasp on being a husband.The love and respect logic helps me understand his perspective. It's also amazing to me to see the perfection God had planned for us before the fall.
