## What is Lovely?

A little cabinet. A room full of colour.

Lovely pairs a rotary speaker with a physically modelled basement reverb chamber. The horn and bass drum have their own momentum: change the speed and the horn gets there first, while the heavier drum takes its time.

THE ROOM IS PART OF THE INSTRUMENT
Concrete walls, room resonances and an adjoining space connected through a doorway form Lovely's basement. The rotating horn sends sound through that geometry, changing the timing and colour of the reflections as it moves.

FROM A SLOW SWIRL TO A FAST SPIN
SPEED moves from gentle rotation to fast tremolo. Turn it fully down and the rotors coast to a stop, keeping the position where they land. Hold the footswitch to brake the rotors. Hold the painted body for a tape-style slowdown that follows their momentum; press nearer the center for a stronger brake. Release to hear them spin back up.

WARMTH, GRIT AND BALANCE
GAIN cuts the signal below center for a cleaner, quieter sound and boosts above center into tube-style compression and overdrive. Center keeps the reference tone and level. BALANCE blends the weight of the bass drum with the shimmer of the treble horn. The MOTOR switch controls the quiet running-cabinet sound.

TURN OUT THE LIGHTS
Tap the horn hub to reveal the blacklight artwork. Tape-like pitch drift makes the sound hazier, with more of the basement coming through. The animated horn follows the rotor, and the mural responds as you play.
