## What is lowkeysafe?

lowkey safe is a password generator and vault that runs entirely on your device. There is no account to create, no sync service and no cloud. Everything you save is kept in an encrypted vault that never leaves your iPhone.

GENERATE
• Basic — a strong random password in one tap
• Advanced — set the length and choose exactly which characters to include or exclude
• Passphrase — real words strung together, so you can actually remember it
• Pronounceable — easy to say and type, without being a real word

SECURE NOTES
Not everything worth protecting is a password. Keep Wi-Fi codes, recovery keys, account numbers and software licences in the same encrypted vault, in their own tab.

Write a note however you like, one item per line. Tap a line to copy it. When a line reads like "Account: 12345", tapping copies just the number — press and hold to copy the whole line instead. No selecting text, no fiddling with a cursor.

CHECK WHAT YOU ALREADY USE
Type in an existing password and see what it is really made of: length, character types, pool size and entropy, plus an estimated brute-force time you can model against different GPUs and hashing algorithms. lowkey safe also warns you when a password looks suspiciously similar to one you have already saved.

KEEP IT ORGANISED
Save what you generate with a label like Gmail or Netflix, add notes, tags and categories, and star the ones you reach for most. Search looks inside your notes too. When it is time to change a password, the change flow keeps the old one linked as history instead of losing it.

SEE WHAT IS WEAK
Insights reads your saved passwords and tells you what needs attention: which ones are weak, which ones you have reused across sites, and how your strength is spread overall.

STAY IN CONTROL
• App lock with Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode
• The vault is encrypted with AES-256, and the key is held in the iOS Keychain
• Copied passwords are marked local-only, so they never travel to your other devices
• Deleted entries go to a recycle bin first, so a mistake stays recoverable
• Encrypted, keyword-protected backups (Argon2id and AES-256-GCM) for moving to a new phone

PRIVACY
No account, no sync, no ads. Optional anonymous usage analytics are switched off by default and can stay that way — they never include a password, a label or a note.

Available in English, German, Spanish, French, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.0.1 — 2026-08-24

Exporting from Favourites and Notes now works
Selecting entries on the Favourites or Notes tab and tapping Export did nothing at all. It now exports exactly what you selected, from whichever tab you selected it on.

Seed phrases are cleared when you permanently delete
On a cold wallet entry, the "12 / 24-word seed phrase" field holds your seed. Permanently deleting one now clears that phrase along with the password. Entries you permanently deleted before this update still hold theirs — open the recycle bin, then Deletion History, and use Purge Deletion History to clear them.

Also in this release
• Restoring a backup now rejects out-of-range values instead of trusting them

### 2.0.0 — 2026-08-19

Secure Notes
Not everything worth protecting is a password. You can now keep Wi-Fi codes, recovery keys, account numbers and licence keys in the same encrypted vault, in a new Notes tab of their own.

Tap a line to copy it
Write a note one item per line. Tap any line to copy it straight to the clipboard. When a line reads like "Account: 12345", tapping copies just the number — press and hold if you want the whole line. The same clipboard protection applies as it does to passwords: local-only, and cleared on schedule.

Notes stay out of the way
Notes live in their own tab, so your password list and your Insights stay about passwords. Search covers your note text as well.

Backups keep more of your history
Restoring a backup now keeps each entry's original creation date and strength rating instead of resetting them, and your categories come back with it — names, colours and all. Older backups still restore exactly as before.

Also in this release
• Notes are encrypted with the same AES-256 vault key as your passwords
• Notes go through the recycle bin like everything else
• Fully translated, including the new Notes screens

### 1.8.0 — 2026-08-10

Stronger clipboard protection
Copied passwords are now written as local-only, so they no longer travel to nearby Macs or iPads through Universal Clipboard. iOS itself now clears them when the timer runs out, even if you close the app first — and the clipboard timeout you picked in Settings is always respected.

Deletion History has moved
The permanent record of deleted entries now lives inside the recycle bin rather than Settings, so everything about deleting is in one place. It is protected by app lock now, and shows the full list instead of only the most recent twenty.

Empty the bin automatically when the app locks
A new optional setting for anyone who wants deleted passwords gone sooner. It is off by default — the recycle bin still keeps items until you empty it yourself.

Now fully translated
German, Spanish, French, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese now cover the whole app, including the recycle bin and generator screens that were previously English only.

Also in this release
• The export screen hides your passwords the moment you switch apps
• Security hardening across password fields, error messages and diagnostics
• Every app component updated to its current version

### 1.7.0 — 2026-08-03

• A new welcome screen helps you get started faster
• One-tap "Generate your first password" when your vault is empty
• Refinements and stability improvements throughout

### 1.6.0 — 2026-07-12

A fresh new look and a smoother way to copy and reveal your passwords.

• Brand-new app icon
• Recent & Favourites redesigned: tap a row to reveal or open details, and copy with a single button
• Tap any line in the details view to copy it, with clear "Copied" feedback
• New setting: choose how long a revealed password stays visible before it hides again (5, 10, 30 or 60 seconds)
• Polish and stability improvements throughout

Thanks for using lowkey safe!
