## What is Luasc?

Nobody remembers the score at 4-5 in the third. Luasc does. One swipe per point on your Apple Watch, or a turn of the crown, keeps games, sets, deuce, tiebreaks and change of ends straight, so you can keep your head in the match.

Best with an Apple Watch. The whole session — warm-up included — is recorded as a real tennis workout, so heart rate, distance and active energy land in Health and Fitness alongside everything else. Scoring and logging the workout are one act: start the warm-up, play, and it's all there afterwards. The watch app runs on its own, so the phone can stay in the bag. Haptics confirm every point, and a proper undo stack forgives the ones you didn't mean.

No watch, or playing on an iPad? Score the whole match on the phone instead. Go point by point with ace, double fault and let, or — if you're honestly not walking back between points — tap once per game and leave it at the net post. Phone scoring doesn't record a workout; that part needs the watch.

When the watch is keeping score, your iPhone mirrors it live. Either phone or iPad can go full-screen as a courtside scoreboard, built to sit at the net post, with tap-to-score when it's the device doing the scoring. Your iPhone will call the score out loud too, if you want it to — it's a toggle.

The formats, done properly:
- Singles and doubles, with correct serve rotation inside a doubles team
- One set, best of three, or best of five
- A ten-point match tiebreak in place of the deciding set, when your club plays the third as a breaker
- Or the deciding set played out in full, with its tiebreak at 6-6 run to ten points, the way all four Slams have played it since 2022
- Advantage sets, if your club doesn't play a tiebreak at six games all: the set runs on until someone leads by two, so it can finish 8-6 or 12-10
- A fixed number of games, played out in full: most games wins, level is a draw
- TieBreak Tens
- Advantage deuce, or no-ad scoring, where one point decides it at deuce
- Seven-point tiebreak at 6-6 in an ordinary set, with the serve rotation and change-of-ends prompts right

Afterwards, on your iPhone:
- Every match you've played, kept in full — free shows the 20 most recent
- A momentum chart for each match, built from every point of it
- A player directory, so regulars are a tap, not a typing exercise. Starting on the watch is deliberately one tap with no name entry, so those matches begin under placeholders and you put names to them later
- A share card for any finished match, drawn on the phone: the scoreboard plus your choice of the momentum line, your stats against theirs, the match in a sentence, your own numbers or the result alone, in a post shape or a story shape

Free is the whole game, for good: every format, the workout, per-match stats, the courtside scoreboard, the momentum chart, the share cards, and iCloud backup of the lot. Luasc Pro is the long view: your history past the 20 most recent matches, win-loss-draw records with and against every player you've met, your results month by month, and your serve and return over time. It can remember where you played too — one location fix as the match starts, turned into a venue name. Never a route, never continuous tracking, and off until you switch it on.

Luasc Pro is a monthly or yearly subscription, both starting with 7 days free, or one payment if you'd rather own it outright. Prices for your country are on this page, under In-App Purchases. Matches past your most recent 20 are hidden, never deleted: they stay on your iPhone, and in your iCloud backup if you use one. Go Pro and they're all back.

No account. No sign-up, no password, nothing of yours on a server of ours — because there isn't one. Your history, players, presets and settings sync between your own devices through your private iCloud and stay there. No ads either.

Luasc is Irish for "swing". It's pronounced LOO-sk.

Score with the Digital Crown

Swiping a watch face works well until your hands are wet. The crown scores now too. A quarter turn anticlockwise, towards you, takes the point. Clockwise, away towards the far end of the court, gives it to them. The same sentence as the swipe, which was the whole idea.

One turn is one point. Keep rolling and nothing more goes on the board, so a sleeve or a racket grip can't quietly put someone two points up.

Game by game on Apple Watch

Some matches you never look at your wrist between points. The iPhone has scored whole games for a while and now the watch can too. Pick it under Scoring when you set the match up, and one swipe, or one turn, takes the game.

Court surface

Clay in the summer, something artificial under lights in January. A match can now record what it was played on: hard, clay, grass, artificial clay or artificial grass. Choose it at setup on either device, or add it afterwards in the match detail. There's a default in Settings for anyone who always plays the same courts.

Say "Start a tennis match"

Ask Siri, search Spotlight, or put it on the Action button, and Luasc opens ready to set a match up. Nothing is scored until you start the match yourself.

The courtside board, from the baseline

Whose serve was a thin bar under the serving side's score, in that side's own colour, sitting against the digits. From the far end it merged into them and the board quietly stopped answering the question. The serving side's whole half of the board now sits on a faint band of its colour. Area survives distance. A line doesn't.

The header holds still as well. "GAME 5 OF 9" used to slide sideways whenever DEUCE or BREAK POINT turned up, and it went missing for the length of every game.

Fixed

- Announce scores ducked whatever you were listening to and never gave it back. Your music stayed quiet until the app was killed.
- In doubles TieBreak Tens, the second pair was never asked who serves first.
- A full iCloud had Luasc pushing into it again at every foreground, and again after that. It now stops for the rest of the session.
- Long words on the board, "TIE-BREAK TO 10" among them, were cut off in portrait at the one part anybody needs.

Have a good match.

### 2026.9.1 — 2026-08-28

A scoreboard you can read from the baseline

Propping the phone at the net only helps if you can read it from the back of the court. The old board was legible from about three and a half metres. The baseline is nearly twelve. We measured it, and then we didn't say anything for a while.

The new one shows one score at a time, as big as the glass allows. The point score while the game is on. Between games the games score takes over, and the strip along the bottom names who serves next, which is the thing doubles pairs argue about. Portrait turns out to be the bigger board.

The key-moment flashes are gone, and so is the mid-match clock. A finished match now shows the final score set by set instead of a frozen last game.

Advantage sets

Rule 6 gives two ways to score a set and Luasc only did one of them. Turn on Advantage sets and six-all keeps going until someone is two games clear, so a match can finish 8-6 or 12-10 and be written down that way. Off unless you switch it on.

Doubles: pick your server again at every set

The rules let each pair choose its serving order at the start of every set. Luasc asked once, in the second game, and assumed the rest of the match. Now it offers the choice at every set, and before a match tiebreak. Carry on as you were and nothing changes. Put your stronger server on first after dropping a set and it will believe you.

Fixed

- Win the match on your Apple Watch and there was no taking back the point that ended it.
- A paired Apple Watch without Luasc installed was offered the watch button and nothing else. The button that would have worked was the hidden one.
- The setting was called "Play sets out at 6-6". Nobody calls it that.
- Setup said sudden death deuce. The rule book says no-ad, and so does Luasc when it reads the score out.
- The watch called the same setting a third thing again.

Have a good match.

### 2026.8.7 — 2026-08-21

Share the match, in the shape you're actually posting

The card you send after a match now renders to two exact ratios — 4:5 for a feed, 9:16 for a story — instead of one odd size that got cropped on Instagram and letterboxed in Stories.

And you pick which card, not just what shape. Five of them: the scoreboard on its own, a head-to-head scorecard, a sentence on how the match went, your own numbers, or the point-by-point momentum line. Luasc only offers the ones your match has the data for. Finish one that stayed level — a tiebreak, a decider, a one-point margin — and it will nudge you, once, to send it.

Three corrections to the rules

- A deciding set that reaches 6-6 now plays a ten-point tiebreak, the way all four Slams have since 2022, rather than a seven-point one.
- On a no-ad deciding point, the receiver chooses which half to receive from. Luasc used to name the deuce court as though it knew. It no longer says.
- The spoken score calls nought "love" and agrees the noun with the number: "one game to love", not "one games to zero".

A tour that doesn't show you the door first

The big button in onboarding now says Next and moves you forward; Skip is a quiet link in the corner. Three pages instead of four, opening with scoring on a watch or a phone rather than assuming a watch — and on iPad, which can't pair one, it never mentions a watch at all.

Restore Purchases tells you what happened

Restored, nothing to restore, or couldn't reach the App Store — instead of a spinner that came and went and left you to guess.

Also fixed

- Naming the players of a finished match could undo a name you'd just typed, if iCloud fetched an older copy in between.
- Signing into a different iCloud account no longer copies the previous account's matches, players and places across to it.
- The "New Match" watch complication opens match setup, so you can choose a preset, instead of dropping straight into warm-up.
- The share nudge's button drew its icon invisibly and sat off centre.
- Match history and the spoken score are both quicker, and naming a court can be cancelled instead of grinding on.

The share card is free, every style of it. Scoring is too — every format, both devices, sync, workouts and per-match stats.

### 2026.8.6 — 2026-08-19

Stats that say what to work on

The Stats tab used to tell you how you'd done. Now it tells you why. A new card at the top names the one thing that's slipped — your second serve, holding serve, converting break points — with the working shown: what it is over your last five matches, how far that is from the ten before, and roughly what it's costing you a match.

It only speaks when it can back it up. Nothing is called a change until it's bigger than ordinary match-to-match variation, so a thin run of matches gets an honest "not enough to tell yet" rather than a confident red arrow.

Stats over time

Underneath it, a new screen charts every stat Luasc tracks — first serves in, points won on first and second serve, double faults, service games held, return points, break points, games broken, total points — match by match, with a five-match average line so you see the shape instead of the scatter.

Key moments on the courtside scoreboard

Propped at the net post, the board is right at the edge of legible from the baseline. Now a game, a set or a change of ends briefly takes over the whole screen with the score you'd otherwise walk over to check — big enough to read from where you're standing — then hands the board straight back. Tap-to-score keeps working underneath. Turn it off in Settings → Match & Scoring.

Your match, on your workout

Matches scored on the watch now stamp the final score, format and result onto the Health workout they recorded, so a tennis workout is no longer anonymous in Health or Fitness. Player names are deliberately left off.

iCloud sync you can see

Settings now shows what sync is actually doing — whether it's running, when it last finished, and plainly if you're signed out of iCloud — instead of quietly doing nothing.

Get Help

Settings → Get Help opens an email to us with your version and a short diagnostics file attached, so we're not asking you for it later.

Also fixed: the caption under a locked Pro feature could be clipped mid-word.

The focus card and Stats over time are part of Luasc Pro. Scoring stays free — every format, both devices, sync, workouts and per-match stats.
