I use both Meetup and Luma to find local tech/AI events. I find Luma is more curated and has more local events. I also find that Luma has more paid events ( I don’t mind paying a small fee is an event is curated and there is food). User experience is great, events are growing. My only gripe is that it is hard to find all the events that are happening. If anyone on product dev at Luma reads this I reckon you should add a view over all events in Melbourne. It seems like events that are located in a suburb don’t show up under the existing view. Possibly a bug ### 3/5 — A bit buggy *2026-06-18* Please fix the location setting, currently the location is auto detected and it’s wrong, when I am in NJ I want to view events in NYC but I got auto detected to be in Dallas… please help fix this, and also add a save feature, it’s frustrating to only be able to view not save, and send reminders to hosts to apply people, some never approves… otherwise the app is great for finding events and I enjoyed it so far when it works **Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback! Sobriety is something that is important to me and having something that is easier even with it being something as small as this helps, I’m used to everything going against me including my phone. So thank you. It is nice that all I have to do is accept and I’m invited and I don’t have to go through a bunch of phases in order to get to the video with Brad Holt. Makes it really hard to look at profiles because now you have to close the browser to make changes to the guest status. ### 1/5 — Location does not work *2026-06-23* I moved to another city and still getting all events for the previous city with no way to change it. At this point only the weekly email is valuable. The app - unusable ### 1/5 — Scam *2026-06-22, version 2.15.4* Such a rip off and I feel it’s full of A.I. or paid employees chatting with you to get you to pay. Probably gonna report them to the BBB if have time. ### 1/5 — Awful spam filling your email box and Calendar *2026-06-16* This app is out of control, your email is harvested and shared and both your email inbox and calendar will be drowned in emails and events you haven’t signed up to!! You go to one event and are automatically signed up to weekly or daily newsletters! A client phoned me to ask me if I had seen his email about a job recently! I hadn’t seen it due to the noise and drowning in so many emails!! I now think my email is on a list thats being sold on! No thank you ### 1/5 — Kein Resale möglich *2026-06-04* Luma bietet leider keinen offiziellen Resale an. Wenn man Tickets privat weiterverkaufen möchte, ist das aktuell auch nur eingeschränkt möglich, da beide Tickets auf einem einzigen QR-Code liegen. Dadurch kann man die Tickets nicht einzeln verkaufen, sondern nur beide zusammen. Hinzu kommt, dass es lediglich den QR-Code gibt und kein PDF-Ticket. Wenn man als Käufer nur einen Screenshot erhält, wirkt das verständlicherweise unsicher, da man nicht überprüfen kann, ob derselbe QR-Code nicht bereits an mehrere Personen weitergegeben wurde. Ich werde zwar weiterhin versuchen, die Tickets privat zu verkaufen, aber es wäre wirklich sinnvoll, wenn ihr hierfür eine offizielle Lösung schaffen könntet. Ein offizieller Resale oder eine sichere Ticket-Transferfunktion würde sowohl Käufern als auch Verkäufern deutlich mehr Sicherheit geben. Asked their support to refund the day of the charge for the next month and they refused. ### 1/5 — Live activities setting degrade performance *2026-05-26, version 2.14.15* On iOS 25.6 ### 1/5 — Terrible App *2026-05-12, version 2.14.13* Doesn’t even do the most basic function which is to send invites to people. It had no problem gleaning my contact info and scraping phone numbers but then didn’t invite half the guests despite saying it did. No way to send a reminder to people who haven’t RSVPed. I run a weekly hyper local show and it’s always a pain to get a head count / distribute info etc. I no longer have a million texts the day of an event and I can easily notify attendees of any changes etc. Super helpful. I never write reviews.
