## What is Lume?

Lume reads your bank statements on your device and works out each month from them. Every figure shows where it came from, down to the statement line. No bank login, ever.

Lume is a budget, net worth and financial independence (FIRE) tracker for iPhone and Mac. One purchase: no subscription, no ads, no tracking. Track your spending, your net worth, your savings rate and your road to financial independence, see when you can get there, and keep everything on your own devices.

Your statements, read on your device
Download a statement from your bank and Lume works out the month from it – read on your iPhone or Mac, never uploaded, no bank login.
• CSV, Excel (.xlsx), OFX, QFX and text PDFs, from any bank or broker – map a file’s columns once and Lume remembers
• Open a statement straight from Files, Finder, Mail or your bank’s app
• Every figure shows where it came from: the statement lines behind it, or the amount you typed
• Your broker’s export fills in your trade log

The monthly close
Once a month, Lume walks you through four steps: import your statements, categorise the lines – most arrive already suggested by your rules – type what no statement gives, like cash or a pension, and confirm. Before you confirm, the last step shows how the month moves your FIRE dates.

Know exactly where you are
• A dashboard that starts with your net worth and how it’s split, beside your FIRE milestones and the date and age you can reach each one
• Every account in one place, grouped by asset class – cash, stocks, crypto, property – with loans and mortgages beside them
• Spending and income each month against your 12-month average, with any category out of the ordinary flagged
• Where your net income went over the last year, and how your investments have done
• Progress toward your milestones – Lean, Barista, FIRE, Fat – at the safe withdrawal rate you choose

See when you can get there
Scenarios turn your numbers into a timeline. Lume fills one in from your last 12 months of income and spending, your latest balances and an expected return for each asset class – you only say when you plan to retire.
• The month and age you reach each milestone, Coast FIRE included, and whether the money lasts
• Events: a pension from 67, a new car every eight years, a year off – one amount, a repeat, or a change for a while
• A range of outcomes: 1,000 runs with returns that go up and down show how often your money lasts
• Lock a pension until the age it opens, set a tax on gains, and pay a loan down faster
• Compare two scenarios side by side, and see the cash flow of any year
• Scenarios update with every monthly close and keep what you changed by hand

iPhone and Mac, one purchase
Lume for iPhone is complete on its own. Lume for Mac comes with the same purchase, and sync keeps the two the same.

Optional sync we can’t read
Sync is off until you turn it on. When you do, your data is encrypted on your device before it leaves. What reaches our server is a block of ciphertext.
• End-to-end encrypted – we store your data and can’t open it
• A recovery code gets you back in if you forget your passphrase – and you can replace it in Settings
• Delete your sync account and the encrypted copy whenever you like, in the app

Private by design
• No account required – open the app and start
• Optional Face ID lock on iPhone
• Your financial data stays on your devices and is encrypted before anything is sent
• No analytics, no crash reports, no advertising identifiers, no third-party SDKs
• Works offline – market prices, ticker checks and sync are the only online features, and all optional
• Export and import whenever you like, as CSV and JSON backups – no lock-in

Simple, honest pricing
One purchase. No subscription, no recurring payments. Buy once and it’s yours, on iPhone and Mac.

Download Lume and close your first month today.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 3.1.1 — 2026-11-02

• A PDF statement with a second section in another currency is now read in full.
• When a statement starts partway through a month, the import asks where it starts and names the days it leaves uncovered.
• On smaller iPhones, the Dashboard now fits the screen.

### 3.1.0 — 2026-10-12

• A reminder to close the month: turn it on in Settings, choose a day and time, and Lume sends a notification on that Mac or iPhone.

### 3.0.0 — 2026-10-07

• Scenarios plan the whole road: retire at the age you choose, stop saving earlier or at Coast FIRE, and add events - a pension, a new car, a year off.
• A range of outcomes: 1,000 runs with returns that go up and down show how often your money lasts.
• Compare two scenarios side by side, see the cash flow of any year, and pay a loan down faster.

### 2.2.2 — 2026-09-30

- The year you were born is now one setting, in Settings, and every scenario and milestone age uses it.
- In the monthly close, the categories you choose are kept when you move on with Continue, Back or another step, with Undo.
- On iPhone, the category picker in the close has the screen to itself while the keyboard is up.

### 2.2.1 — 2026-09-27

- Lume now reads PDF statements, where the PDF has text and a table of lines, as most banks' and brokers' do. A scanned statement isn't read.
- A statement's lines are checked against the opening and closing balances it states, and Lume tells you when they don't add up.
- Like every file, a PDF is read on your device and never uploaded.
