### 3/5 — Possible Security Problem

*2026-08-22, version 3.24.29 (3563)*

I received a lumen as a gift. I never signed on to a plan. I used it to take readings periodically, then stopped for a few months. I tried to get on today and could not. I downloaded again from the App Store in case I needed an update, received an OPEN, and could connect BUT
TO SOMEONE ELSES LUMEN. I have that person’s name
And address. First name Dana, second name ends in e. I could see what the Bluetooth was connected to and saw what it was not connected to. I STOPPED. Not a hacker. I wonder what a hacker could do!
Waiting to reconnect.

### 3/5 — Okay Tech

*2026-08-18, version 3.23.36 (3533)*

Still has glitches but getting better

### 2/5 — App used to be good but sucks now

*2026-07-19, version 3.22.15 (3502)*

I’ve been using my Lumen for a year and a half. The app used to function seamlessly and I found the bar code scanner and photo feature for logging meals to work pretty well. They’ve made a lot of changes to the app since then and it sucks now. The app is super glitchy now, particularly when taking my breath measurements. It gets so choppy and I’m convinced it doesn’t measure my breath accurately when it does that. Also, I can’t tell you how many food barcodes I scan these days that come up with “Sorry, item not found.” Seriously? Get it together. How am I supposed to log my food if half the bar codes I scan aren’t in your database? And the food photo feature used to work well and doesn’t work well at all. I’ve had it misidentify food to an embarrassing degree more than a few times. I don’t know what you all changed from how the app was a few years ago, but I beg of you, change it back. This app is becoming almost unusable and I’m about to bail on it. This isn’t the only app in that logs food so why would I continue to use one so riddled with issues?

### 2/5 — Latest update makes it REALLY bad.

*2026-06-13, version 3.20.25 (3463)*

The latest update causes it to log me out and disconnect the device every single time it is used. When it worked it was great, but if I have to log in and reconnect the device every time I want to use it I will probably throw it away and just go back to timed fasting.

### 5/5 — First Try

*2026-05-02, version 3.16.103(3388)*

I got my Lumen today. I started setting up and had several questions. The chat bot was able to guide and resolve all my concerns. The setup process was amazingly smooth and I am ready to start working with it.

### 1/5 — Stop forcing me to rewatch the tutorial video. Let me skip all of this and just continue practicing.

*2026-03-31, version 3.16.31(3310)*

I’m stuck on the damn tutorial. I keep inhaling and it doesn’t register. I keep exhaling and it says I stopped. On top of that I’m stuck in a stupid loop that keeps forcing me through tutorial steps with no way out to just take the damn breaths. On top of that, it says “now exhale…in four seconds”. Seriously yall. Unskippable tutorial sucks.

### 5/5 — An education in my metabolism

*2026-03-17, version 3.16.31(3310)*

I have only been using lumen for a little over a week now, so I’ll try and come back with a more detailed review with more use. So far, the information has been really helpful. I now have more than an educated guess about how my habits were impacting my metabolism. I am in my early 40s, and still a healthy weight, though I have not been able to lose those last pounds after my last baby who I had at 40. I had begun intermittent fasting in hopes of not only losing those last pounds, but also because I wanted to see if it would boost my energy levels. But I didn’t know my best fasting window. So far, I’ve been using lumen to time my fast, as well as figure out what to eat during my window and in preparation and response to the various forms of exercise I do daily. I feel like I finally have a glimpse into what is happening in my body, and though I’m still learning how it all all’s and how I specifically need to respond to the information I am getting, I have lost a few pounds and I am feeling more energized. I had already begun losing weight just from my IF, so in total I’m down 5 pounds - only a pound or so since starting lumen, but I can feel my body thinning out and letting go of the extra fat. Here is to hoping I can keep gaining greater understanding of how my metabolism works, so I can avoid the wild weight gain my siblings have gone through in their 40’s

### 5/5 — I Love it

*2026-03-07, version 3.16.31(3310)*

It’s only been a week but Lumen has made me very conscious of my food choices. I’ve been trying to lose weight for like a year with little to no progress. In a week I’ve dropped 5 pounds. It motivates me do better by sticking to the plan.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2026-03-04, version 3.16.31(3310)*

Lumen is where leading edge technology meets personal wellness. I’ve had it one week and already it’s making a huge difference in my day.

### 1/5 — Subscription Trap

*2026-03-02, version 3.16.31(3310)*

Ordered the device, paid more for it to not be required to have a long term subscription… only to find out that it forcefully put me on a monthly subscription without any billing reminders being sent. Good luck finding the cancel subscription page as well.

The device seems to work just fine, but sleazy business practices make this not a trustworthy company to be providing your personal health information with, let alone your credit card number.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — GET RID OF THE JUDGY KIDNEY BEAN!!

*2026-08-13, version 3.23.36 (3533)*

I’ve had the Lumen app for 2 years now and loved it, until the current update where there is a very judgmental kidney bean or jellybean looking thing that is sad if your reading is below a 2! Whoever made this change should be fired. It’s hard enough to remain positive and motivated without being frowned at by a cartoon character for having a NORMAL reading. Totally missed the mark here. I’m trying to continue using the app in spite of the rage I feel on the daily looking at this thing. Please get rid of it on the next update. And sign your UI team up for some sensitivity training for God’s sake.

### 1/5 — Customer Service

*2026-07-20, version 3.22.15 (3502)*

Price is way to expensive for what you get and customer service is very hard to get in touch with. No phone number to call and mostly just an Ai chatbot to talk to. If you get “transferred” to a real person via chat (cause that is the only option) the you may as well just send an email because the real person on chat takes just as long to reply. Any reputable company would have a phone number to call and ask for help asap….not make the customers wait for mailing the details of the issue(s)

### 1/5 — Not functional

*2026-07-02, version 3.21.16 (3483)*

I have been trying to reactivate my membership and already have a lumen device. I keep getting a white screen and broken links in the app when i was trying to restart membership. Also sent multiple messages to support and still have no resolution- i can only get the general readings, and when i try to sign up for membership through the app keep getting a 404 broken links message. It just does not work.

### 1/5 — Impossible to cancel and contact them

*2026-06-29, version 3.21.16 (3483)*

App won’t allow me to cancel, chat feature does not work, website contact info goes to a dead link and have no phone number to call. They make it as difficult as possible to cancel their recurring membership.

### 1/5 — Problems

*2026-06-26, version 3.21.16 (3483)*

Too complicated to know what to do. The onboarding is like reading an encyclopedia. Their education is like mini TikTok videos. Crazy for someone who just wants to read and understand.

Also, never got the initial email that had the registration code - so can’t use the device.

Also they only support in a narrow East Coast hours window. So if you dare to purchase their product from another time zone - heaven forbid you try to get support after 1 pm Pacific on a Friday — you are hosed!!

### 1/5 — Horror cancelling membership

*2026-06-09, version 3.20.25 (3463)*

Membership buyer beware! Grounds for class action lawsuit.

This company probably should have just let $179 yearly membership fee go rather than risk this review. I cancelled the membership with one day left. I took a screenshot with the website saying I had one day to change my mind. I did not change my mind. I hadn’t used the device in probably 6 months. They decided to charge me $179 anyway. I disputed it through my credit card company (American Express for reference). American Express initially returned the $179 to me. Then a month later I get an email from American Express telling me that this company searched their records and found no evidence for my cancellation request. How can this be?

Well, I went back to the website just now (a month later) and now it mysteriously says that they had trouble cancelling my membership. Apparently this message was somehow sent only through the website, and only after they seemingly assured me that the membership was cancelled. This seems to me to be a relatively tricky, sneaky and not good business practice.

### 1/5 — Can’t adjust our fast times

*2026-06-04, version 3.19.30 (3460)*

Outside of taking a measurement, there isn’t a way to update our fasting start or end time. If I miss a measurement (wake or sleep), my fasting appears considerably longer than it actually was in reality.

Instead of the 36 hours, the fast should have ended at 18, and the one I’m currently on would’ve been around 8 or 9 hours.

### 1/5 — Cancel policy

*2026-06-03, version 3.19.30 (3460)*

This is the worst company to deal with when canceling your subscription. Buyers beware

### 1/5 — Scam device can’t cancel subscription

*2026-04-05, version 3.16.31(3310)*

The science behind this device is simply a lie

### 1/5 — Subscription Lock-in

*2026-04-01, version 3.16.31(3310)*

Locked out because I don’t have some random email with purchase code. Another of those gadgets that you buy but don’t really own meaningfully. Straight to garbage!
