## What is Lumen Viae?

Pray the Rosary with a short reading on each mystery, or have the whole Rosary prayed aloud with you. Lumen Viae also has 152 Catholic prayers, Gregorian chant, the 1962 Missal and the Divine Office. You don't need an account, and the Rosary works offline.

THE ROSARY
• Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious and Luminous Mysteries, and the Seven Sorrows chaplet
• Today's mysteries are chosen for you (traditional weekday schedule, or the 2002 one)
• A meditation on each mystery from the Gospels, the saints or the Church Fathers, to read or listen to
• Count on the screen: swipe down for the next bead and the decade turns by itself. Or count on your own rosary.
• The Scriptural Rosary: a Bible verse for each Hail Mary, from the Douay-Rheims
• The Rosary prayed aloud from start to finish, in the voice and speed you choose

NEW TO THE ROSARY?
Three short lessons show you the beads, the prayers and the mysteries. Then pray your first Rosary with the app guiding you bead by bead.

• Morning Prayers, the Angelus and Night Prayers, set out in order
• Prayers before Mass and Confession, litanies, and prayers to Mary and the saints
• Pray along in silence or aloud
• Save the prayers you use most, and learn them by heart

GREGORIAN CHANT
• 104 chants, including the Mass of the Angels, the Creed and the songs to Mary
• A recording and sheet music for each chant
• Play chants one after another as a set

MASS AND OFFICE
• The 1962 Missal for any day, with the full Order of Mass
• The Divine Office from the 1962 Breviary, all eight hours

• St. Louis de Montfort's preparation for consecration to Jesus through Mary, one day at a time
• Scripture, a reading and prayers for each day, in English and Latin

PRIVACY
No account and no sign-in. Your journal and prayer history stay on your phone. The app sends one anonymous note when you finish a Rosary with a meditation set: which set, whether it was said aloud, and your city or region.

### 5/5 — Beautiful, prayerful, incredible!

*2026-08-22*

I’ve been searching for an app like this for years. Something to aid me in my spiritual life but that was also easy to use. This app has everything you need in one place, on an extremely beautiful platform I might add!! I love the “chose your sanctuary mode” where you get to set the tone for your app. Along with being beautiful the prayers offered are coupled with beautiful chant and the language can be changed so you can learn these beloved prayers in Latin as well.

Such an incredible app, not enough good things can be said about it. May God reward you for creating this app!

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 4.0 — 2026-10-18

New in Lumen Viae 4.0:

- Prayers: the Church's common prayers have their own tab, with shortcuts and the most-used prayers first.
- The Chant Library: the Church's own songs in Gregorian chant, each with a recording and sheet music.
- The Rosary said aloud: every prayer of the Rosary spoken in the voice you choose, at the speed you set.
- How to Pray the Rosary: a short course for someone new to it, then a guided first Rosary.
- Lock screen controls for prayers, chants and Rosary sets: pause, skip and see what is playing.
- Clearer wording throughout the app, and many fixes and speed improvements.

### 3 — 2026-09-15

A shelf of spiritual reading: the Imitation of Christ, the Story of a Soul, the Confessions, and the Dolorous Passion. Each book is read to you by a recorded voice you can follow along with, and any page that strikes you can be kept.

The Scriptural Rosary now stands on its own, with a verse of Scripture on every bead.

The Daily Missal and the Divine Office read more quietly. Their headers move with your thumb as you scroll instead of jumping, and the Mass page says more in less room.

My Chapel replaces the old account page: a page you arrange yourself, holding the day's rule of prayer, the book you are reading, the chant, your reflections, and your streak.

Today's Prayer on the home page names the day's Mass, the hour of the Office, and where you stand in the consecration.

The consecration prayers are set the way a prayer book sets them, and the introduction has been mended.

### 2.0 — 2026-08-20

Prayer, on two surfaces

The prayer screen is now a player and a reader. The mystery's painting,
the controls, and where you stand in the Rosary sit on one screen; the
meditation text opens as a page over it, with an optional follow-along
that keeps pace with the narration. Moving between them never
interrupts the voice.

Narration continues when the phone locks

Guided prayer used to stop the moment the screen went dark. It doesn't
now. The Lock Screen and your headphones carry the whole Rosary - play,
pause, and moving between mysteries - and narration speed is adjustable
from 0.75x to 2x.

There is still no auto-advance. A decade is a meditation and ten Hail
Marys; the next mystery begins when you say so.

A shelf of meditations

Choosing a meditation is a shelf you browse - a gallery of paintings or
a plain ruled list, whichever you prefer - with the sets you keep
returning to pinned on top, and a filter for the kind of meditation you
are after.

A page before you begin

Each set now has its own page, set like a title page: who wrote it, where
it came from, what the meditations are, and the first one in full. Then
one word to begin.

Sacred art for every set

Meditations carry their own painting now - on the shelf, on the set's
page, and saved with the set for prayer without a signal. Each mystery
keeps its own image in the player, as it always has.

The 33-day consecration, hands-free

The consecration can be prayed the way the Rosary can: the chants
continue with the screen dark, and the Lock Screen carries you from one
prayer of the day to the next. Reflections are now kept with the
consecration they belong to, so beginning a second one no longer writes
over the first.

The traditional week

Saturday is Glorious. Sunday follows the season - Joyful in Advent,
Sorrowful in Lent, Glorious the rest of the year.

Also in this version

- Offline downloads include set paintings, and a single set can be saved
  from its own page
- A gentler edge where the artwork meets the controls, and a steadier
  crossfade between mysteries
- Reminder times follow your locale and 24-hour setting
- Faster and lighter throughout, most noticeably on the home screen
