### 1/5 — Very disappointed

*2026-01-10*

This app is extremely basic and lacking in every aspect. I’m using the iPhone 15 pro max and the app doesn’t even compensate for the front camera on the screen like it should. When I try and hit the back button at the top left it just doesn’t work so I have to close the app every time. I haven’t even seen yet if it will actually work after I took quite a bit of time to go through and set the time and brightness level. It’s also in military time and I don’t see a way to change that so that’s pretty annoying as well. I don’t have much hope for it at this point. Might end up returning all the LumenIZE fixtures and just get the normal lamps.

### 1/5 — Poor connection

*2026-01-08, version 1.8*

Bought the 46inch lumenize for a big enclosure I recently built. The app only connects if you’re close to it, and when your phone is not connected to the app it will not turn on the lights for you. What a waste of money, stick to zoo med brand at least you can just plug it into a timer outlet and have it set to on and off automatically. Cheap bs.

### 1/5 — Dreadfull App

*2025-12-29, version 1.8*

Looking at the other reviews from a yea ago not much have improved. App does not seem to be compatible with new phones as not all options are visible and available… Also even tho I set a customer schedule light comes up at 100% , also it randomly turns itself on ie6pm or 7pm waking up my lizard. Arcadia lamp / light is ok however app interface poor. Will be deleting the app and managing through smart socket , much more reliable

### 1/5 — Absolute garbage

*2025-12-19*

Cord switch is 6” from wall outlet to try and force you to use this garbage app. App does not work, impossible to program, and when nothing works…you get to crawl around on floor to try and turn off and on. Just freaking wonderful for someone with back issues. All just to force this junk on you whether you want it or not. My advice buy a replacement cord with switch for humans OR cut cord and install decent usable switch. (Cheap and simple to do) BEST OPTION BUY A LIGHT FIXTURE FROM SOMEONE ELSE AND USE ARCADIA BULBS.

### 1/5 — Works

*2025-12-06*

Needs some serious improvement. You should be able to label each light to the reptile or pet that it is being used on. I have multiple lizards and lights and it is a pain in the but to figure out what light is on what enclosure with out messing with the intensity of the light. With that said I’m sure that is not good on the health of the animal. Lights work good and app works but definitely could use improvement.

### 1/5 — Please fix this!

*2025-11-25*

Arcadia has such a good reputation in reptile lighting that you would think this app would be more user friendly and less glitchy. I am trying to adjust one of my three LumenIZE fixtures but it either won’t pick it up on Bluetooth scan or it does but when I click on it the time slots and sliders disappear 2 seconds later. The last app update was a year ago?! Come on Arcadia! Do better!

### 1/5 — App is buggy

*2025-10-29, version 1.8*

Light is good but the app won’t even let me select my light

### 1/5 — Great light, Garbage app

*2025-10-25, version 1.8*

The light itself is great. I love it! But the app is worthless. Pure garbage. Tabs that should open will not open when tapped. It’s not user friendly at all.

### 1/5 — No connection?

*2025-10-04, version 1.8*

This app can’t detect the LED Arcadia jungle dawn bar. Forget the controls being glitchy, I can’t even find the lights

### 1/5 — Fix your broken app

*2025-09-01, version 1.8*

Make an app that actually works well. The lights randomly come on even though my schedule is set correctly.

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2025-08-11, version 1.8*

To add to what everyone says, the app also likes to turn lights on whenever it pleases or disregard turn off time. Save your money and just get some regular smart switches!

### 2/5 — Intensity of light won’t change in auto mode

*2025-07-12, version 1.8*

I just got this light and installed the app. If I change it to auto I can’t change the intensity of the light for each time of the day. It just does what it is programmed to do.

### 1/5 — The light is great, but the app is GARBAGE

*2025-05-27*

Please for the love of god make this app better, whenever I need to change the timer on my light it’s always IMPOSSIBLE, it stays connected to my light for 3 seconds then it makes me have to connect all over again.
I’m literally sitting next to my light every time I try to connect.
I can’t even input anything because the app disconnects from my light so fast.
I’ve completely given up on using the timer on this WHICH IS THE ENTIRE REASON I UPGRADED TO THE ONE WITH AN APP CONTROLLED TIMER.
I have a 54 watt, 35inch, jungle dawn.

PLEASE MAKE THIS APP MORE USER FRIENDLY!

I absolutely love the light but the app is garbage I almost wished I would’ve stuck with the one without the app controller, because it was cheaper, what’s the point in paying extra for a feature that doesn’t even work??!!

### 1/5 — App wouldn’t work

*2025-05-03*

I had recently bought a shadedweller LumenIZE for my leopard gecko, hoping to upgrade my boy’s heating and lighting systems. I set up the light, and so far everything was going great. The light was turning on and off, and functioning properly. The reason I give this app one star is because I downloaded it, started scanning for devices, and absolutely nothing came up. I’ve tried multiple things to fix this, and NOTHING worked. Every time I scanned, it would say “scanning” and then under the devices area, there would be nothing. I have contacted Monkfield Reptiles(working with Arcadia I believe) and alerted them of this problem. If the response solves this issue, then my review will be updated, but unless the app improves its connection ability to bluetooth, it won’t be receiving 5 stars from me. Besides the app, the light works fantastic. The whole issue however is the app.

I am now updating this review after about a week, after struggling through the process of receiving a response from Monkfield Reptiles(they responded very efficiently), and finding a replacement lamp. Monkfield Reptiles suggested I go to the store where I first bought my lamp, and get a replacement. I did this, got a replacement, tried it out, and the issue persists. I now believe that this problem is related to the app, and not my lamp. Unfortunately, I don’t think I will be purchasing Arcadia products again.

### 1/5 — Very poor

*2025-04-22, version 1.8*

The Luminize hardware seems promising, but the app is a huge let down and it’s pretty clear Monkfield Nutrition who now own the Arcadia Reptile brand, couldn’t give a damn. Clunky interface, poor placement of controls and mapping of touch screen on iPhone which makes operating difficult. The app and instructions are out of sync. User interface design for setting up light level profiles is shockingly bad. No updates for over a year. Monkfield need to take some lessons from Fluval, who have managed to produce a decent app to control their aquarium lighting. It’s not difficult.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — So Bad It’s Almost Unbelievable

*2026-08-03*

I bought my first iPhone 18 years ago. In that time I’ve had 100’s of apps of all kinds. LumenIZE is the single worst app I’ve ever used. I would be confident that this app could be high on the list of worst app ever created worldwide. The user interface is a mess, and I have a hard time believing that anyone could have designed something so terrible. If you are an app developer and want to know how not to build an app. Try this one. If you are anyone else, figure out a different way to light your LunenIZE light bar.

### 1/5 — Not great

*2026-07-27, version 1.8*

Constantly having to delete and reinstall because the light decides to stop working.

### 1/5 — Very glitchy

*2026-06-28, version 1.8*

Last update 2 years ago when they’re known to have so many glitches. Not good enough for such an expensive product and so called premium branding.

### 1/5 — Timer doesn’t work anymore

*2026-05-03, version 1.8*

I use to love this app and the light, the item would work like clock work, now it’s completely broken. The app not only deleted the entire schedule I created it also does not follow the new one I set. This needs to be fixed ASAP especially because this is the main reason for getting this product.

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2026-03-28*

Purchased this because of the features listed on the box. Having dimmable and timed options on app sounded great. App pretty much lets you manually dim as needed which works just fine but timer seems to be an issue. There is a way to adjust custom schedule but theres no time listed anywhere on the app. Very confusing if it’s using your phones time or something else so I tested having it shut off at different intervals and it never did. I set a schedule for the next morning to turn on and it never did. I opened the app and my programmed schedule was off. What is the point of this app other than manual dimming?

### 1/5 — Nothing but problems

*2026-03-18*

When purchasing the UVB and LED lights the fact that I can make the percentages of light go up and down was why I bought it in the first place. The app is useless. I have tried multiple times to reprogram and it ends up leaving my bearded dragon with lights that go on and off consistently. The custom modes delete on their own and I’ve had to restart from scratch. I ended up putting both lights on a timer because the app is very spotty and whether it’s going to work or not. I believe it has potential but they really need to work on fixing the bugs in this app.

### 1/5 — Absolute garbage

*2026-03-10*

Spoke with 3 women at reptile show. They all hate this app as they live where they do not have internet or cell service. So much for rural service. On behalf of those ladies…Thanks Arcadia for nothing except more expensive useless junk

### 1/5 — Very disappointed

Might end up returning all the LumenIZE fixtures and just get the normal lamps. After about two weeks of testing and adding my custom day/night cycle my custom mode is completely gone. I’m actually in disbelief Arcadia has an app this poorly ran/put together

### 1/5 — App suddenly broken

*2026-01-27, version 1.8*

It worked fine for the most part but one day it suddenly changed to turning on at 4am? And suddenly I can’t manually change anything not even the brightness levels or when it turns on and off?? I deleted and it got it back and everything it honestly isn’t just bad for my pet but for my own sleep I may have to look for something else of this isn’t fixed

### 1/5 — Pointless

*2026-01-22, version 1.8*

Absolutely pointless its meant to give you piece of mind but makes your worry more decides its own brightness even tho have times set awful app if yoi can even call one screen slide an app deleted ot used the light with out so payed extra for a dimmer for nothing cheers arcadia shows how much they give an f

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Hot garbage

*2025-06-14, version 1.8*

The api is terrible but I’m giving a 5 star because I don’t need to make another account for something that doesn’t need one

### 5/5 — Love it. No problems.

*2025-06-05*

I don’t understand why there are so many bad reviews? I have the 54w (3ft) Jungle Dawn and the 24w (2ft) Pro T5. Both the lights and the app work, flawlessly, for me. The only complaint I have is I bought the Lumenize jumper cable for them both, LED to ProT5, and the connections are different? On the LED, the one end fits the power cord but, that’s the same end that fits the jumper and the same with the ProT5. The other end doesn’t fit, unless I’m just slow? Other than that, I absolutely love it. Thank you Arcadia, from across the pond.

### 5/5 — No issues and easy set up.

*2025-02-08*

I had these light for a couple of months before I put them to use and I had not read any reviews prior. When it came time to set them up, I became really concerned when I did read the reviews regarding app control. Well, I was very happy when I didn’t have any issues creating a custom schedule, copy/pasting it for both lamps, and since having uninterrupted service for both as well. I did do the 100 hour/100% run time prior to the custom schedule and I’m hopeful that I get great environments for my reptiles from these lights. So far, I’m exceptionally happy and so is my beardie!

### 4/5 — Good, but needs enhancements

*2026-07-09, version 1.8*

I've been using the Arcadia LumenIZE app to program lighting schedules, and overall it's a useful app that provides a high degree of control over lighting profiles. As someone who works in software quality assurance and regularly evaluates user experience and application usability, there are a few improvements that I believe would significantly enhance the app.
Firstly, while it's great that a large number of time slots can be configured, the interface only displays around five entries at a time due to the layout of the selected lighting device panel. When working with more complex schedules, it becomes difficult to get a complete overview of the programme. An option to collapse, resize, or minimise the device panel would allow users to view more time slots simultaneously and make schedule editing much easier.
Secondly, the app is missing what I would consider a critical safeguard: a lock function. Once a lighting programme has been carefully configured, users should be able to lock their settings to prevent accidental changes. This would be particularly valuable for hobbyists managing sensitive environments where unintended adjustments could impact plant or animal husbandry.
Finally, the app would benefit from a dedicated Save button or a clear confirmation message when changes are applied. At present, users must simply assume that edits have been successfully saved, as there's little or no feedback from the interface. Explicit confirmation would provide reassurance, reduce uncertainty, and improve overall user confidence in the application.
Despite these suggestions, the app is functional and offers excellent lighting control. With a few usability enhancements, it could provide a much more polished and user-friendly experience.

### 4/5 — Works as needed, could use improvements

*2025-11-06*

I purchased my 48” 80w LumenIZE in Nov 2025, using app version 1.8 for reference. I bought this to light a small reptile room, which has no windows so wanted to be able to simulate a natural day/night cycle - so the main feature that brought me to this product was the dawn/dusk feature. I’ve been using for about a week.

Not sure if things have improved since some of the bad reviews a year ago, but the light and app work fine for me. Make sure you read the instructions. The Bluetooth only works within a few feet of the light, so you need to enter all of your settings while near the light, and once you walk away it disconnects but keeps the settings going. Also need to stay on top of replacing the battery regularly in the lamp so it holds the program.

You do NOT need to enter settings for every hour or half hour time as some complained. You only need 4 time and power entries for the light to work as a sunrise and sunset unit. You can enter more if you want but not necessary. Again, read the instructions and the example they give.

The major improvement I would like to see is to have the twilight dawn/dusk hour or so to be in a more natural red/orange color. The unit keeps the same white light and just dims it down to 0% which just doesn’t give that true sunset (or sunrise) feel.

I also don’t understand the two included programs - they don’t seem particularly natural or useful. Adding in programs that track the natural light cycle in a temperate zone and a tropical zone would be more useful. The programs should also provide power that follows a bell curve to match natural daylight rather than ramping up or down in a linear way. I realize that you could do this by creating a custom program, but given the technology today I would thing that a few more features added to the app for ease of applying natural light cycles and color temperatures wouldn’t be that difficult.

But overall I would recommend this product as-is, with the hope of future improvements. If Arcadia doesn’t do it, I’m sure someone else will.

### 4/5 — Works Perfectly Fine

*2024-04-27*

I got this because obviously I got the lights. Let me tell you this app is not user friendly but it works perfectly fine. I give it a 4 stars due to user interface not being the best but the app WORKS…which is all I need. Best lights in the biz and this app is cool. My green tree python says thanks.

### 4/5 — Works as advertised

*2024-04-05, version 1.8*

Works perfectly fine. Read the manual. Does nothing more and nothing less than advertised.

### 4/5 — Works fine!

*2024-02-11, version 1.8*

There are some small things like not being able to click the back button when on data manager but I’ve had the app for a few months now and all of my lights except one which was faulty have worked fine. The timing it a little out by a few minutes after a while but nothing extreme. I do think it should have had more testing before putting it out!

### 3/5 — Grate technology that needs fine tuning!!

*2024-03-15, version 1.8*

The idea behind having automated on off cycles is not just to make life easier looking after reptiles, but to also have consistent seasonal changes too.

This app does not allow you to input dates to switch between custom “seasonal” profiles. You have to manually go into the app and switch from the winter schedule to the spring, summer and so on. And if you forget to switch it over your reptiles skip that season and so straight from winter to summer cycles. !🤦🏻‍♂️!

Why the Arcadia did not think about adding a calendar to the app to enable users to setup Sedona to mothers kinda contradicts then advertising LumeniZe lamps as autistic seasonal on/off cycles.

When using the app, it’s like they’ve had a grate idea but missed out the key features that make it grate & user friendly…

You also cannot setup profiles, for example. Yemen’s Viv. Pythons Viv, panther’s viv & so on. And assign lights to those vivs individually under different settings. At the moment. You need to copy and past custom light settings to the lights individually. Grr.
Or add custom notes to the profile for that specific Viv setup, fore example; feeding info.

Instead you need to cram all your notes on one notes box for all your animals & setups.

Personally it would make life so simpler to have applied folders. Like you can do on your computer. Create new folder, assign lights to that folder and call it gecko’s Viv… in this folder have the ability to add a notes section & feeding calendar. This would make it so much MORE user friendly and practical!! Having everything in one place for each individual setup within the app.

But instead. They released it without thinking about all theses basic things and the app is not nice to use at all. Instead of making something practical and grate. They decided to release grate technology with an app that’s like buying an aftermarket £1 remote from pound land to control for bran new 85” LG smart tv that has buttons that don’t function the way they should.

I love Arcadia products and lighting. They are one if the best out there but please put more effort and useful “user friendly” reachers on your APP!! Like a Calendar option to add to the seasonal settings.

Be able to have folders to add multiple Viv’s to enable us to keep everything & info organised and tidy.

When I open the app. I’d expect to see all the folders to access to add info to this or that Viv or change settings.

This would also be more user friendly for shops too that sell reptiles.

Will Arcadia read this. Probably not but I hope they at least make the seasonal cycles programmable and automatically change without having to manually change them yourself to give are reptiles constant seasons like they’d have in the Wilde. This would remove human error by forgetting to switch manually.

### 3/5 — Not as shiny as marketed

*2024-02-03, version 1.8*

This is OK. The ballasts themselves have some interesting innovations. The leds and fluorescents dim with minimal visual effect!

but the app is hot garbage. Frankly, it feels more like a maker project than a commercial product. The data visualizer implies the unit simms on a slope between two points but this is not the case. very disappointing
