Roon is a better experience but it will cost you, and complicate your set up. ### 3/5 — The shuffle is broken *2024-10-20, version 10.0.1* So, shuffle shuffles everything you have, not just the Qobuz playlist you want shuffled. ### 2/5 — App needs finessing *2024-09-20, version 9.3.0* I have two LUMIN streamers and I have the application on both an iPhone & iPad - I find the app unstable with the need to reset the streamers more often than I would like. Furthermore the search function often registers a zero when there is definitely an artist/album in the library. Moreover it is picky about displaying artwork metadata. All-in-all as this is the only/best means of control I expected something more solid. Mediocre & disappointing. Please improve! ### 2/5 — Broken for anyone using Melco *2023-01-18, version 8.4.1* Since the latest update I can no longer use the search track option to go back and forward. A real shame as I would happily pay for this app. ### 2/5 — First time user - just crashes *2021-10-01, version 7.0.7* New iPhone and having used Auralic which is stable. This app works for a while then switch to it and it loses the lumin m1. Restart the app and it doesn’t find the lumin. Seems very unstable. Lumin please debug and fix before making new features. My network is rock solid with Auralic. ### 4/5 — Good app but needs a few more improvements... *2021-02-07, version 7.0.4* ...to get to 5 stars. One of those is the ability to play a song in the middle of an album and have the following tracks continue to play (just like if you were in Tidal or Qobuz app). Otherwise really good app so far. ### 3/5 — Great app, just missing one major thing. *2020-06-14, version 6.1.17* Please add the universal Apple iPhone/iPad widget that controls the next and previous track. ### 4/5 — OK app spoilt by recent updates *2020-01-10, version 6.1.14* I have used the LUMIN app for a couple of years with a couple of Linn streamers and have found it to be generally ok. Better than Linns own app but a little bit more flakey. However with the recent 6.1.13 and 14 updates a big problem has been introduced when using with an iPhone. An additional menu item has been introduced for Roon use but this simply squeezes the items in the top menu for choosing the view - song, album, composer etc. This means that the button to toggle between album and song view is masked and cannot be used. It is overlapped by the button for Radio station . This is really frustrating since one song view mode is selected it cannot be unselected. This is NOT a problem with an iPad. Please get it fixed! ### 3/5 — Latest version crashes all the time *2019-10-20, version 6.1.9* Good app and easy to use but the latest version crashes all the time when adding tracks or albums to my list of favorites. That is to me a major regression on the product. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Unwanted ads *2026-01-08, version 12.1.8* I see ads for Spotify. First I was told to get rid of them by using the latest version of the Lumin app, which I already have. Then I was told that these ads came from Spotify, because I am not a premium member of that service, which I am not and don't want to be. In other words, to use the Lumin player, which costs thousands, you have to accept ads from a streaming service you don't. ### 1/5 — Terrible app on a phone *2025-01-25, version 10.1.5* I don't understand why people are being largely positive about this app. It's really bad. I have a WiiM streamer on another stereo and the app is so much better because it emulates the UI that we're all used to (Tidal / Spotify etc.) I find the fact the way you have to add songs to a playlist clunky and conter-intuitive. And it just looks really bad. Scrolling rhough albums and songs should be a pleasant experince, this is like using a 90s media player on a PC. While I'm here I'll add that my LUMIN D2 had a fault a few months outside warrantly and cost me £500 to repair. So all-in-all I won't ever but LUMIN again, dspite the sound being excellent. ### 1/5 — The V 8.8.2 update the song playing interrupted *2023-08-26, version 8.8.2* Updated V 8.8.2 when playing song if switch from other apps back to Lumin will interrupting the song being play. Also sometime show offline. ### 1/5 — Disappointed *2023-01-06, version 8.3.0* Have purchased a LUMIN streamer after struggling with other streamers. Now I cannot even play any songs without the system totally crashing. Over twenty thousand on my setup and I now prefer Alexa that’s in the kitchen. This does everything I need, allows me to control my kit, allows me to easily add individual tracks to a queue, allows me to search my media. LUMIN App remains my favorite. With a properly set up NAS running Minimserver this app simply cannot be beat. Single page control, play queue control options, auto font adjustment, regular updates, great support from LUMIN all contribute to unsurpassed customer experience.
