The color meter mode is essential for my architectural work, and replaces my Gossen color meter. I rely on the incident meter mode as a starting point for my interior shots. ### 2/5 — No colour temp meter on the free app *2023-10-14, version 3.3.6* I specifically needed a colour temperature meter however, this is not available with the free app despite the fact it implies it is included. Using it in spot meter mode to put the darkest parts into zone -2 works brilliantly - just dial in a correction and find the spot you want. And keep an eye on the EV display to judge dynamic range. The only thing that I would like to see is aperture priority mode. ### 1/5 — Ordered Lumu Power 2. No meter, no response *2021-08-26, version 3.3.4* I ordered a Lumu Power 2 on May 16, 2021. It’s now August 26, 2021 and I still don’t have the meter and the company has not responded to my many requests for assistance. I suspect they’ve gone out of business and have taken my $299 with them. Do not buy this app or their devices. They’re now a ghost ship. ### 3/5 — Real convenient but not that accurate *2021-06-27, version 3.3.4* Light meter that works with the phone I’ve got on set anyway…awesome but the color meter feature isn’t very accurate at all. The reflective meter is accurate to within a tenth of a stop of my Sekonic meter, so that’s great and better than I expected. The spectrometer does a great job too. Where is falls short is in the color mode. Honestly the main reason I bought it. Small pocket sized tool that gives reflective metering and color. The accuracy is really really off though. Measuring outside in direct sunlight measures ~4300 kelvin…a true tungsten bulb measured about the same. Re-measuring an led source produces wildly different measurements every single time under the same conditions. Compared to my Sekonic C700 is laughable. Not that I expected this to be the same but this function (the reason I chose the pro version of the product) is so unusablely wrong that I don’t ever ever use it or would ever trust it. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Misleading *2025-12-23, version 3.3.6* This is an advert for a colour meter and a spot light meter app. It is not a colour meter. ### 1/5 — disgrace *2025-08-14, version 3.3.6* Can not measure flash , just measures when a pressing buton. 250 euros flew away ### 1/5 — No setup instructions it is trash *2024-04-20, version 3.3.6* How do you set a fixed ISO? They could have at least turned off their website, social media, etc so everybody would know they’ve closed operations… ### 1/5 — No Longer Works *2022-09-23, version 3.3.6* I purchased a Lumu Power Light Meter in 2017 and it’s been working great till the past two months. I’m able to connect the device to my phone and it seems like it’s working, but the color temp readout option doesn’t appear any more. I tried re-installing the firmware on the device from the app, then restore purchases, and even tried to buy the color temp option again. No luck. Contacted support three times now, and have not gotten a reply. Used to be a great product and app, however it’s gone south. Look elsewhere if you want to have a product that lasts. Sad. ### 1/5 — Ordered the meter, never received, they ghosted me *2022-08-19, version 3.3.6* I ordered the Lumu light meter with the lightning connector. They said it would ship in 1-2 weeks. It’s been 4 weeks and they are not responding to my emails. ### 1/5 — Ear damage *2022-02-24, version 3.3.4* In it self the app works great and is very accurate. I compared it with a proper light meter and the results were the same. BUT - there is a huge bug. Every time the app is used while having headphones on the app makes a HUGE, UNBEARABLE shriek noise that is killing your ears. It’s so bad my ear hurt a lot afterwards. I’ve compared it to Sekonic 858d and it’s giving more precise readings in light levels. Color meter is in par with more expensive professional meters. Great to see they are back on app store!! ### 5/5 — IMPORTANT ISSUE *2025-03-12* This is great app, and LuMu hardware is working great (exceptionally precise) however there is a issue with Illumination section in app, specifically when measuring LUX value! It seems that LuMu app shows Lx value as FootCandle. I’ve compared it with Seconic L858d and it’s 10.7 times lower than it should be, which is exactly conversion number for Lx/Fc ratio! So in conclusion, it’s great, precise tool, just beware that app shows Lx value in Fc. ### 5/5 — Wow *2025-03-10, version 3.3.6* Listen, I never write app reviews. Lumu is a great combo between comfortable and quick usage in a field and a great minimalistic interface.
