### 3/5 — They Finally Fixed the App

*2025-11-16, version 2.0.98*

Review Update Nov 2025

Version 2.0.98 actually works.

Congrats Lux Team!

You have FINALLY restored the functionality of my thermostat to the state of operation it offering in 2018. (Still no web portal but at least the app functions as intended.)

IDK how long it has been fixed. I have not bothered with the app for over 2 years.

3 Stars for meeting baseline expectations - 4 years later.

And I hope I don't jinx myself with this review

================•

Prior Review from about 2022

This app is totally broken. I was so excited 2 years ago when I set up 3 zones in my house using Lux, everything worked great. But the recent update has completely broken the functionality and made this a totally frustrating and disappointing component of my life. I will never purchase a LUX product again. They have shown a complete disregard for their customers with this app update. No QA whatsoever. They simply pushed a broken app out to the world. They keep promising updates (via v2.0.63) but good luck getting it. You only get the still broken and buggy 2.0.13.
Good Bye Lux.

### 1/5 — Won’t work

*2025-10-11, version 2.0.98*

Won’t even go through the network set up. Gets stuck on the open settings page. Can connect the to the thermostat wi-fi but when you get back to the app it won’t move past the directions/open settings screen. 10/10 don’t recommend this app.

### 1/5 — Don’t bother

*2025-10-05, version 2.0.98*

Company’s products cannot connect if they don’t receive updates after a certain point. We’ve had to reconfigure the thermostat settings numerous times because they don’t retain settings.

App works poorly with the device if at all. Choose literally any other thermostat manufacturer and you’ll be better off.

### 1/5 — Garbage App

*2025-09-27, version 2.0.98*

The thermostat says it is connected to the internet, however the app says it is not. They want to blame it on the internet provider. I have so many smart devices connected and this is the only one with issues. Stay away.

### 1/5 — Worthless Now

*2025-07-25, version 2.0.98*

The app is not communicating with the Geo at all. It used to work. Not sure what happened. Maybe an update

### 1/5 — Unusable

*2025-06-22, version 2.0.98*

Can’t even get the firmware update done. Been trying for 3 days and it can’t become usable

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2025-06-03, version 2.0.98*

Can’t connect to the device from the app.

### 1/5 — Nope

*2025-03-21, version 2.0.98*

Always have connection issues. Now can even add the device after update

### 1/5 — Trash app

*2025-03-17, version 2.0.97*

The app crashes every time I even try to add my thermostat, so it’s absolutely useless at this point. If I could give it less than one star, I definitely would.

### 1/5 — New App?

*2025-03-02, version 2.0.97*

When will a new version of this app that actually works for a Lux Kono be available? Thermostat working but no connectivity.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2025-03-01, version 2.0.97*

This app has to be the most USELESS app. Got my thermostat connected only for the app to tell me the firmware was updating. Forever. Then it told me the thermostat had lost connectivity, which it hadn’t. DO NOT BUY THESE!

### 1/5 — Doesn’t connect

*2025-02-11, version 2.0.97*

I have a Lux Kono (also not working properly) and this app crashes every time I try to connect.

### 2/5 — Only works occasionally

*2025-02-08, version 2.0.97*

For a while the app can’t connect to the thermostat. Have to restart app and wait and recheck several times. Why is it working so poorly?

### 1/5 — Immediate CTD

*2025-01-23, version 2.0.97*

The app immediately crashes to the Home Screen every time I try to add my thermostat. Doesn’t work at all. Literal garbage. Do not buy their products.

### 1/5 — Broken

*2025-01-11, version 2.0.97*

Cannot connect Kono to WiFi for more than 3 weeks. Basically our “smart” thermostat operates like a 1950 mechanical mercury device.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2025-01-05, version 2.0.97*

App crashes repeatedly. Loses connection without reason. Due to repeated problems, I tried to remove the app and thermostat and reset. The app crashes when I click on my thermostat type to add.

What a complete waste. It doesn’t even deserve 1 star.

### 1/5 — 0 Stars Don’t waste your time

*2024-12-29, version 2.0.97*

Woke up at 3am because it was 80 degrees in the home in a sweat. Even though I set the thermostat to cool 72. Figure maybe I should connect it to my WiFi. So downloaded the app and proceeded attempting to connect it. Here 3 hours late after some how the a/c turn back on around 5am. The App doesn’t connect at all. Is now 7am n I give up after reading reviews. Don’t waste your time and change thermostats ASAP if possible. 0 to negative 5 Stars. Waste of time.

### 1/5 — Worst App I have used. I should have Stuck with Google Nest

*2024-12-17, version 2.0.97*

I had some issues with the thermostat and had to reset it and therefore I had to delete and re add the kono smart thermostat. Every time I click to add the kono smart the app shuts me out. I will have to go back to the Google nest thermostat and throw this product out the window. Worst experience ever.

### 1/5 — Kono

*2024-11-18, version 2.0.97*

Its impossible to select device Kono the app is crashing

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Horrendous Functionality & Zero Customer Support

*2026-06-10, version 2.0.99*

Good luck if you make the mistake of purchasing a product from this garbage company. When things stop working, you’re on your own. I’m currently locked out of my own home system and haven’t gotten a response from customer service in 5 days. I’m throwing my device in the trash.

### 1/5 — An app that doesn’t work

*2026-05-27, version 2.0.99*

It is absolutely a useless app. It never worked and it apparently won’t

### 1/5 — Long suffering customers of this hideous app

*2026-01-03, version 2.0.98*

I despise trying to make this investment live up to minimal expectations. For those on old oil boiler systems there aren’t many options.

### 1/5 — Worst app ever

*2025-12-21, version 2.0.98*

Never seen an app that just doesn’t work.

### 1/5 — Junk

*2025-12-12, version 2.0.98*

Poor functionality. And similar to reviews below, the app no longer works correctly to reprogram a thermostat. So it’s stuck in manual mode.

### 1/5 — Unable to connect to WiFi or this App on my iPhone

*2025-12-01, version 2.0.98*

Worked for 3 years and for about a week now you are unable to even open the App (Alert:Failed to perform your request, please try again later), so I am unable yo connect to Alexa anymore because you can't get WiFi to even load on the thermostat. Just got off the phone with "Mike" in technical Support and he said it's a known issue on iPhones, and they are gathering information for the developers to "maybe" fix this "KNOWN" issue!! In the meantime, I can't control my thermostat at all, period. So, are we supposed to go buy a new one or wait (who knows how long or if they are even going to fix it)...FRUSTRATING TO SAY THE LEAST!!!!!!!! $150.00 Thermostat down the toilet!!!!! Ugh!!!!!!!

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2025-11-25, version 2.0.98*

Had to make a four hour trip to manually turn off my Lux Geo thermostat since the LUX app I have on my iPhone doesn’t work. Tried several different ways to get it to work, but failed…..this a just a failed product. I’m very disappointed and frustrated. Make sure you look elsewhere for a smart thermostat. Whatever you do, don’t purchase this product.

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2025-11-22*

Had to make a trip to manually turn off the Lux thermostat while the app I have on my iPhone doesn’t work. Tried several different ways to get it to work, but failed…..just like the product. I’m very disappointed and frustrated. Make sure you look elsewhere for a smart thermostat. Whatever you, don’t purchase this product.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work. At all. Ever.

*2025-11-08, version 2.0.98*

What a scam. This never connects to my phone no matter how much troubleshooting. I hate it.

### 1/5 — Won’t pair with my thermometer

*2025-10-29, version 2.0.98*

Went to go use the app after moving into my house and it does not connect to my phone because it keeps saying that it’s Pair to a different location which I don’t understand why it would say I’ve tried resetting it, taking it off the wall and resetting it making sure everything was updated and it still won’t connect

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — It work until ver 2.0.98

*2025-12-01, version 2.0.98*

Installed mothers house in September 2021 she lives 4hr away could see temps and run times and know she was ok summers and winters
Now I get failed to preform your request please try again ok
Went to her home stat connected to her internet along with my phone on router setup
Did reset of phone router and stat and software
Failed to preform your request try again

### 5/5 — Responsive to issues - much improved

*2021-02-09, version 2.0.46*

The app has had some problems culminating recently. I emailed and then called customer service. I was shocked that the phone call was promptly answered and someone tecorded my concerns. My email was promptly followed up in a manner that made it clear they were working on the problem (by David Cahill). As of today the connectivity and runtime and temp data recording issues are fully corrected. 5 stars for this unheard of customer service and defication to correcting a problem.

### 5/5 — Works fine for me

*2020-12-18, version 2.0.14*

I just bought a Lux Geo thermostat. After installing it, I had to download the app, and then went thru wifi network setup. At first it upgraded the thermostat’s software. Then I was able to use the app to check the current temperature and change the temperature setting. I really like that you can look at statistics of runtime and temperature for 24 hrs on each day. I haven't tried to schedule temperature setting yet. But so far I haven't observed any issues and overall I really like the app and the thermostat.

Update: I was able to setup a weekly schedule, it allows you to setup 4 events per day. I have already changed the schedule few times. I believe the thermostat connects to wifi only once per hour in order to extend battery life. So any time you make any changes to the schedule it wouldn't take an affect until the thermostat connects to wifi. I have seen so many complains about this app, but honestly I haven't had any issues with it and everything has worked okay so far.

### 5/5 — Muli-zone

*2020-12-06, version 2.0.14*

I find many of the negative reviews interesting, because many of the things they complain about are accomplished by the app - you can still lock the thermostat if a rental house, toggle between heat and cool (or leave on auto), adjust the temp remotely, etc. If I have complaint, as illustrated by the apparent confusion about what the app can do, it’s that Lux does not do a better job explaining where to find/how to adjust several of the settings - particularly when it comes to locking the thermostat and adjusting notifications (such as for low temp). A customer should not have to spend an hour hunting for how to do something, as we are likely to throw our hands up in frustration and conclude we should have bought another thermostat (but on balance I love my Konos, particularly given cost savings compared to the competition).

### 5/5 — So far so good... using as a housesitter

*2019-12-21, version 1.15*

So we downloaded the app & installed the batteries in the thermostat... that’s it! Setting it up was a bit tricky because we jumped ahead and connected our phone to the thermostat’s wifi instead of our house wifi and then the app couldn’t initialize properly. Once we figured that out, the thermometer started communicating with our phone. We didn’t wire anything in. We need a way to check our house temp while away and went to Best Buy to see what they had... no time to wait for something cheaper from amazon. In Ontario, ask for 25% rebate. Screen is large and easy to read. We only have one installed at present.

### 5/5 — The Geo Lux was easy to set up. The app some potential with improvements but navigates great.

*2019-03-30, version 1.12*

So far it seems to be all good. The thermostats, I ordered two, from mass save, were ten bucks a piece, so why not give it a shot. These were my first WiFi thermos. The set up was incredibly easy and fast. Now onto this App. I like the Lux app because it is really easy to navigate and I love the stats that are really useful when fine tuning your temperature sweet spots. I would like to see improvement in stats where I can look at month vs the same month last year and the potential dollars saved based on your providers rate. For those that are complaining about short batteries life, there are three settings with in the app for adjusting the responsiveness of communication between the app and the thermostat. It will increase or decrease the frequency in which the device communicate via the network. These modes will determine how long your batteries lasts. Play around with it and let us know. Mine are too new to know just yet.

### 5/5 — Best one!

*2019-01-22, version 1.12*

I bought this before nest came out and it was the only one that would go portrait mode to fit on a really narrow piece of wall. Also with a display I don’t have to wear glasses to read. I ran this on batteries in balanced mode for years, swapping batteries about every 6 months. Recently it started mid reading the battery level saying it was too low after a few days and dropping the WiFi. The company shipped me a new unit!! I also hooked up the C wire which I had been meaning to do for years. The schedule copied over to the new unit with few clicks. Easy peasy!

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2016-09-02, version 1.3*

Great app and product!
I think we're going economize gas and money.

### 4/5 — Fan settings lacking

*2024-11-02, version 2.0.97*

The IAQ setting doesn’t work for our fan. It would be very helpful to allow scheduling of the fan, as I need it to come on following bumps to temperature in the morning.

Stopped connecting to app and customer service was easily reached and diagnosed the issue. Very helpful

### 4/5 — Almost perfect!

*2023-08-31, version 2.0.97*

Overall I find the LUX GEO Thermostat to be user friendly. I had a professional install the unit. I went with this model due to my dual heating and cooling system setup(previous owner) what keeps this system from being great is no smart home connectivity. I would like to link to Alexa but the app is very useful. The customer service is very good. When I did have a issue, they were able to get me going in short time.
