### 5/5 — Great for what it’s intended use is!

*2021-12-22, version 1.11*

While maybe my phone camera isn’t as good as a hundred dollar lux meter, having an app like this is super convenient for having at least something to help get the right shot!

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2021-12-22, version 1.11*

This app is super well designed and does what you expect (light readings). I would love to be able to capture the scene and settings for a particular reading so I could have that data to go along with my film later. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2021-12-22, version 1.11*

Great UI, easy to use, made me break out my old camera for the first time in awhile!! Can’t recommend enough

### 5/5 — Great light meter!

*2021-12-22, version 1.11*

This app does exactly what a promises: it allows you to measure the light and determine settings for your manual camera. Ignore the other review, this app is great at doing what it promises. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Great Light Meter!

*2021-12-22, version 1.11*

This is a great light meter for my film/analog camera! It seems very accurate, and I like the UI.

Note: it does not take pictures, but that is as intended as this is just a meter for getting the correct exposure for your film camera.

I would love the capability to save certain lenses and their specific apertures in a future update, but the app works exactly as intended.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2021-12-22, version 1.11*

App performs exactly as expected and is a great replacement for a broken light meter

### 5/5 — A Delightful Light Meter App

*2021-12-22, version 1.11*

The Luxilux Light Meter app truly is a masterpiece of an app. It, quite elegantly, displays all the necessary information that one would need in properly adjusting their Camera for the perfect shot. Unlike other light meter apps on the App Store, this app doesn’t have any gimmicky, unnecessary visuals that don’t enhance or add to the user’s experience, but rather tasteful choices in displaying certain information, such as the aperture, or the shutter speed, where these informations are neatly and uniformly displayed to the user. Additionally, the developer has a fantastic no data collected privacy policy, which adds to the value of this reasonably priced app. Overall, a fantastic light meter app that makes setting up your camera a delightful breeze.

### 5/5 — Great Application!

*2021-12-22, version 1.11*

Does what it says. Some people can’t read and think this is a camera, this is not a camera app. This is an app to measure light so that you can input some nice settings into your manual camera.

### 5/5 — Nice

*2021-12-22, version 1.11*

A great little app. Recommended.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2021-12-22, version 1.11*

Just what I wanted, works exactly as described. Thanks Indie App Santa for promoting this and the Devs for supplying their products

### 5/5 — Handy light meter for film photographers

*2021-12-22, version 1.11*

This app is a handy light meter for film photographers. It uses the camera to help you calculate the exposure triangle of a scene. You can lock aperture or shutter speed, or go full manual.

If I were to offer a suggestion, it would be useful to show a histogram of the image to help judge highlights. But it’s a nice app as it stands today.

### 5/5 — Useful even as a DSLR Photographer

*2021-12-21, version 1.11*

Can’t believe I didn’t know this app existed! I can now dial in the numbers for the perfect shot on my DSLR without having to test, change and re-test!! This is great.

### 5/5 — Great ui design for using

*2021-10-18, version 1.9*

Great ui and easy to use. but sometimes i needed ev+3 for taking a photo, could you increase an ev option? and lower shutter speed in long exposure scenarios. Tanks a lot!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

*2025-03-01*

### 1/5 — schade

*2022-03-22*

### 1/5 — Requesting Refund

*2020-11-08*

If I can get a refund I will love it. This is not a camera. It just shows you what you’re seeing on the screen. $3.99 waisted for me.

**Developer response:** Hi Chris,
Sorry that the app is not what you expected. It doesn’t claim to be a camera and the App Store description explains how you can use it as a light meter.

I immediately replied to your DM on Twitter with a link on how to request a refund from Apple. Please follow these instructions since developers can’t refund users directly.

### 2/5 — Bin nicht so begeistert!

*2021-02-20, version 1.6*

Hab ich mir besser vorgestellt.

### 3/5 — Needs refinement

*2025-03-21, version 2.0.2*

The ISO choices jump in large increments. When I pay for an app, I expect a bit more refinement than a free app. For example, when using ISO 125 film, I have to use the 100 setting in the app and then do some math myself to compensate. Can’t the app do the math for me and let me adjust the ISO in small increments?

### 4/5 — ISO 500?

*2024-08-23, version 2.0.1*

I hope it will have iso500.

## Most praised reviews (9 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Sehr genaue Ergebnisse

*2025-09-11, version 2.1*

### 5/5 — My app suggestions

*2025-03-12, version 2.0.2*

Please add a grid and a level. The app updated is wonderful for me, but I’m missing a grid and a level. It’ll make it way easier for me to get the shot and it’s not cut off but leveled and in a grid. Other than that, I’m loving the app now because of the useful upgrades it brings me! Thanks for the update. Hopefully, I’ll see a grid and level soon added to this app.

### 5/5 — Custom shutter speed suggestion

*2023-08-15, version 1.11*

I would love a feature where u can customize the shutter speed for longer than 30 seconds. Anyway that can be added?

### 5/5 — Great communication from app developer!

*2023-06-26, version 1.11*

I had an issue with my iPhone enlarging the text too much on the app and the developer responded 5 minutes later with a fix! I’m blown away by such great service. The app is perfect for the mid level photographer to test out how close they can get to guessing proper exposure without an expensive light meter. I do it by eye and use this app to double check.

### 5/5 — Quick and easy to read integral light meter

*2023-06-12, version 1.11*

This isn’t the only light meter app. There are more sophisticated around. But they either use a portion of the image for metering (think of a spot meter) or they are cluttered with unnecessary information. This one uses the full image for metering and has an quick to read interface which allows for fast-paced photography because spot metering slows me down. And it‘s fairly accurate when I compare it with the readings of my M6 or my Seconic professional light meter.

### 5/5 — It will be better if can add nd option

*2021-12-23*

It will be better if can add nd option

**Developer response:** Hello, you can currently use the exposure compensation for up to 3 stops. This would be appropriate for an ND8 filter.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2021-12-22, version 1.11*

Great App works really good. Perfect companion for my camera

### 5/5 — So amazingly cool

*2021-12-22, version 1.11*

I had my grandpa’s old camera and light meter for years, and having something like this really brings back the feel of artistry and craft to taking a photograph.

Forget pre-calibrated photos and everything happening in the background. Manual and analog are the only ways to go if you want to be a craftsman/craftswoman.

### 5/5 — It's perfect

*2021-12-22, version 1.11*

Beautiful app. Great companion to my old manual film cameras.
