The slider for dimming (it’s a 110v switch) is grayed out at 0% and the app crashes if I tap “Done”. It seems to be related to picking a time relative to sunset when creating the event. If I create the event with a specific time it works and then I can go back and change it to 1 hour before sunset. I also put the group I wanted to schedule into a theme by itself but I’m not sure if that is necessary for the workaround. ### 3/5 — App is weird *2026-08-04* Hard to use. Can't easily turn all lights off and on ### 2/5 — Absolutely LOUSY system *2026-06-25* I love that Luxor allows us to (theoretically) have whatever colors we want. The only problem is that the system is very unreliable. Connection to the controller is lost far too frequently, and it is very difficult to re-connect. Tech support is not very helpful. When everything works, it’s great. But anytime I try to make a change (for example, when the sun sets later in the evening), it’s always a guess whether I’ll be able to make the desired change. If I had to do it all over again, I’d try to find a different system (this was the only color-changing one that my landscaper used). Very expensive but not very reliable. ### 4/5 — Difficult *2026-05-22* System keeps failing ### 3/5 — Good when it works *2026-04-03* Been using the app for several years for several sites and a demo kit. After having the sites and kit working properly with the app for more than a year, recent use shows no co trillers connected. Tried to read a controller and got an error stating the controller was already assigned to a site. Very frustrating. Tens of thousands of dollars in a light system and a half baked app. ### 4/5 — What Happened? *2025-11-25* With the most recent app update (4.6.17), it appears to have lost support for older controllers. Just get an error message stating controller not found. Won’t find with manual IP assignment either. ☹️ ### 2/5 — The update was a downgrade *2025-10-19* This app used to work ok. It was never great but it worked. I opened it and turned on various light in my yard with it. Now the new version takes minutes (!) just to load then I can turn on light. This was not an upgrade but a regression error. Fix the horrible performance! ### 2/5 — Needs a Massive Update *2025-09-23* If you want to assign lights to zones, you need to insert a tool into your phone’s headphone jack. Phones haven’t had headphone jacks for years. App also crashes out half the time. ### 1/5 — Junk, don’t bother *2025-09-19* This app is absolute junk and should be completely rewritten. When creating groups in the app it never saves the assigned group number and always reverts it back to 0. I also have 14 groups which I cannot delete in any way. When I delete them they seem to go away but when I close and reopen the app they come back from the dead, zombie groups that won’t die. Not sure why they even have this app when it’s so completely buggy. Don’t waste your time ### 1/5 — Completely ruined the app *2025-05-31, version 4.6.10* I have a circa 2018 ZD dimmer (not the newest controller but not that old) and the latest update with the focus on "the cloud" completely ruined my controller connection. The old app worked fine, not great but fine, but the latest update destroyed all functionality with my app. I didn't think it was possible Hunter could make a worse app but they succeeded. Everytime I open the app it forgets the group number assigned to each group (all groups get reset to group 0) and nothing works. I reassign each group and it works like it's supposed to but the next time I open the app, everything gets reset and nothing works. It's like Hunter has a single gerbil writing code (guess it's AI slop nowadays) for this app in a dusty basement. Where is the testing and quality control! No self respecting company would continuously release an app in such an unacceptable state. If I hadn't already invested thousands of dollars in this system I certainly would be looking for a new controller. If you are looking for a landscape lighting system look elsewhere because Hunter clearly doesn't care about their software and certainly not about hardware that is less than 10 years old. ### 1/5 — Worst App *2025-05-29* So I disagree, forget a 4 year old using this app, even a 40 year old cannot understand this app. The new app is buggy and drops. Not intuitive. None of the old groups or themes that were defined carried over, a nightmare! Don’t buy Hunter Luxor products. They can’t even get this right. **Developer response:** Hello, Please download 4.6.10 and check to see if this fixes your issues. If Groups and Themes are not appearing, please do a pull-down to refresh. If you are still having issues, please call 1 800-733-2823 ### 1/5 — Update Crashed The System *2025-05-04, version 4.6.1* With the last update the app no longer can find the controller. Even when trying to manually connect the controller with the IP address, error message shows no controller found. Always something with this system. ### 1/5 — Terrible buggy interface *2025-04-30, version 4.6.1* Upgrade broke the system - controller no longer online; can’t access lights, groups or themes. Absolutely awful system. ### 1/5 — Still Crashing *2025-04-27, version 4.6.1* The Cloud access still crashes with this updated version, which was supposed to fix the crashing. I also get a strange error report that pops up on the screen. When I disable the Cloud account, things go back to working fine. Stay away from this ### 1/5 — Wish I had read app reviews first *2025-12-31* Powerful hardware undermined by extremely poor scheduling logic and UX. The Luxor app treats “Programs” as independent schedules with no priority or conflict resolution. If two programs are active on the same day, they both run and silently override each other based on timing. The app gives no warning, no explanation, and no way to designate a single active “scene” or preset. Saving a program requires at least one day highlighted, even if the user intends to store it for later use. This forces users into accidental overlaps. Some programs appear saved with no days at all, which suggests inconsistent or buggy logic. There is also no clear way to enable or access “Seasons” (the only viable workaround), and documentation is essentially nonexistent. The result is lighting behavior that feels random, even when the user is being careful. This is not a beginner mistake — it’s a fundamental design problem. The hardware is excellent, but the app needs a complete rethink around scenes, modes, or program priority. ### 1/5 — Awful *2025-11-18* The worst apps on the App Store. $10k for lights and the app is awful. Look elsewhere. I am converting all my outdoor lights to Gemstone. There is no excuse for the app being this bad. They need to hire engineers and start over. I promise you that if you buy their product you will be disappointed. Demand that your contractor to use a different product or find a new contractor.
