I discovered that the date and time needs to be set accurate on the machine for the sync to work. After I set the date and time, sync went perfectly. Also, the app needs a way to force deflate the leggings similar to the machine. I am several feet away from the machine and if I need to stop the compression before the 1hr time setting is complete, there is no way I can see to deflate the legs other getting up and pressing the button on the actual machine.
