## What is Lyonesse?

Record a meeting or lecture and read the words as people speak. Ask a question about what was said, get a summary in seconds, and find any moment later with search. The transcription and AI run on your device.

Lyonesse is a private workspace for the things you record and the documents you read. Recording, transcription, summaries, speaker labels, and Q&A happen locally. There is no cloud transcription provider, so it keeps working with no internet and your audio is not uploaded to be processed. No account to create. Optional iCloud sync is off by default.

WHAT YOU CAN DO
- Transcribe live recordings, or import an audio or video file you already have. On Mac you can also capture system audio from any app, call, or video playing on your device.
- Get AI summaries in the style you want: concise, bullets, action items, or a structured outline.
- Ask Lyonesse: chat across your whole library. Notes, transcripts, PDFs, and images, with follow-up questions and citations back to the source.
- Read your documents. Import a PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint file or an image, then summarize it, pull out the key points, or ask it questions.
- Run a private meeting assistant: link your calendar, see full-screen live captions, get on-device speaker labels, and turn a recording into drafted minutes with action items.

FIXED: TRANSLATED CAPTIONS COULD NOT BE TURNED ON

Translated captions arrived in the last update, but on a new install the button to switch them on never appeared. It does now.

Start a recording, use the speech-bubble button, and pick the language you want the second line in. The translation runs on your device, like everything else here — nothing is uploaded.

- Your words, spelled right. Add names, products, and jargon to your custom vocabulary in Settings, and transcription gets them right — seeded automatically from what you told us during setup.
- Live translated captions. Recording in a language you half-speak? Turn on a second caption line in yours, translated on-device while the recording runs. Nothing leaves your phone.
- Clean reading mode. One tap hides the "ums" and false starts in a transcript — and one tap brings every word back. The recording itself is never changed.
- Rewrite a note. Turn a rambling voice note into polished prose, a bulleted list, a ready-to-send email, or a short message — without adding a single word you didn't say.
- Tags that suggest themselves. Lyonesse now proposes up to three tags per note. Tap to accept, or dismiss — nothing is ever applied for you. And a library filter you like can now be saved as a view.

A NEW NAME AND A NEW ICON
The app is now called Lyonesse. Same app, same library, same on-device privacy — a new name and a lighthouse icon to go with it. Nothing moves on your device and nothing needs re-importing.

START A RECORDING FROM ANYWHERE
A Lock Screen widget, a Control Center button, Siri and Shortcuts, and a menu bar recorder on the Mac with real menu commands. Ask a question by voice, and voice commands now work in every language the app speaks.

CAPTURE NOW, PROCESS LATER
Record on the move and let a more capable device do the AI work. Choose which of your devices processes a note, or defer processing entirely until later.

SPEAKER LABELS IN FAR MORE LANGUAGES
Recordings in Norwegian, Turkish, Croatian, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian, Hindi, Hebrew, Arabic and many more now get speaker labels and per-word timings — previously they got neither. Voice profiles let the app recognise a speaker it has met before and name them for you.

A REAL PLAYER
Playback speed, skip forward and back, and chapters that jump to the moment a topic starts.

EXPORT THE WHOLE LIBRARY
Export a project, your entire library, or a Markdown vault for other note apps. Exports can carry real timestamps, and subtitle files (SRT and VTT) are built from actual timings rather than an estimate.

BUSINESS CARDS BECOME CONTACTS
Photograph a card and add it straight to Contacts, or share it as a contact file.

BETTER ANSWERS
Answers cite their sources on every AI tier now, not only Apple Intelligence. A question asked in one language finds answers written in another, and long documents summarise properly instead of stopping short.

TURN AUTOMATIC SUMMARIES OFF
A new switch stops summaries being created automatically. Generating one by hand still works.

CLEARER TRANSCRIPTS
Fixed several causes of corrupted transcripts: words run together in live captions, the closing words of a recording dropped, and speech lost between the sections of a long recording.

ALSO FIXED
Siri speaks an answer once instead of twice. Long recordings keep their audio and their speaker labels all the way to the end. The Privacy and Terms links open again.

Everything still runs on your device.

A BETTER ON-DEVICE MODEL FOR YOUR DEVICE
Inscribe used to offer everyone the same small on-device model. Now it looks at what your iPhone, iPad or Mac can actually hold and offers the best model it runs comfortably — so more capable devices get noticeably better summaries and action items. Models your device cannot run are no longer offered at all, and setup now shows the real download size before you start.

Also fixed: Generate Summary did nothing on an imported photo.
