The app lags, had issues of starting up and I can’t listen to certain songs because it will play a different song with the same name. I was very patient with Lyra for months by either waiting for fixes or looking for work arounds. But now? The recent update featuring all the ads? No thanks. For example, i play 'Hotel Room Service' and it plays a completely different song. Its infuriating. Or when I play 'Thinking of you' By Katy Perry or other pop songs itll play the acoustic version. If i wanted that version i would've searched for it. I have opened the app 6 times before I was finally able to get it to play a song and I still had to sit through 2 ads. If this is how the app will be from now on I’m considering deleting it because I’m not interested in another glitchy advertisement filled headache. And I’m not interested in paying another fee in life just to enjoy some music, of which we are paying way too many these days. I’d rather just hand the actual artists some cash atp ### 3/5 — Super toll außer kleinigkeiten *2026-08-29* Ich benutze Lyra jetzt schon seit gut 2 Monaten schon und es war ehrlich ein Schnauf frischer Luft im Vergleich zu Spotify wo man bei fast jeden dritten Lied lange Werbung bekam und nur limitiert Skippen konnte. Lyra ist darin definitiv ein großer Upgrade. Doch irgendwann hab ich bemerkt dass die Lyrics nicht mehr kostenlos zu sehen waren. War zwar schade, aber nicht so dramatisch für mich. Aber jetzt kriege ich aufeinmal oft Werbung sobald ich auf der App bin und es ist sehr nervig. Ich bin zu Lyra gewechselt um der Werbung zu entgehen. Ich die Entscheidung einfach schade, es macht die App mehr nervig und stressiger zu nutzen weil ich mich schon beim aufmachen der App wegen der Werbung stressen muss die jede Sekunde kommen könnte. Sonst hab ich nichts großartig zu klagen, das einzige was ich vielleicht noch erwähnen wollen würde ist das manche Lieder anscheinend vertauschte Titel haben zu scheinen oder nach ein bestimmten Lied auszusehen mit Künstler, Cover und allem, aber es am Ende doch ein Lied von jemand ganz anderen ist. Works like it used to again. ### 3/5 — Mixed feelings *2026-08-29, version 1.4.12* CONS This app used to be completely ad free and now has irritating ads the play over my music instead of playing before it plays. Sometimes after a couple songs the music will stop playing and continues to stay silent for many minutes. Many songs have the wrong version or a cover by another singer without it being titled as so. PROS Still has pros such as (generally) having less ads then Spotify, cheaper premium and the fastest and most convenient playlist transfer from many big platforms such as youtube and Spotify. Many apps will take an hour to transfer a playlist but this one can transfer one with hundreds of songs in minutes. (Some songs transferred won’t be the correct version as mentioned earlier but still good overall). Despite its cons I would 100% recommend this app to anyone looking for a better alternative to Spotify or other music platforms. ### 2/5 — Broken Features, Increasing Prices… at least it (was) free. *2026-08-29, version 1.4.12* The appeal of Lyra was the ability to listen to free music and support a company that wasn’t running ice ads. They’ve recently changed their app to include ads that you can get rid of by paying for premium ($17.99/year or $2.99/mo as of Aug 28th, 2026). The actual app functionality is entirely mediocre. It runs slowly, sometimes has trouble loading songs when not connected to wifi, and at times freezes, which requires closing out of and restarting the app—which means watching another ad. Additionally, because they pull their music from youtube, there are still certain songs where you cannot play the original version, despite it being advertised as the original song by that artist. Try to play Hozier’s song Would That I and you’ll hear a clunky intro and someone singing who definitely isn’t him. To me, that’s not worth paying for. It seems Lyra is another company following the entirely unoriginal trend: make product free or low-cost, build customer base, start charging more for your originally low-cost or free product. Instead, build a high quality app that does its job as well as or better than competitors, and charge people from the get go. People don’t mind putting their hard-earned money toward something useful. We’re tired of the shady practices that so many claim is “just business.” Product excellence and transparency with customers builds loyalty. Otherwise, Premium removes ads. ### 1/5 — Music DONT GET THIS APP *2026-08-31* There are far to many glitches like when I turn off my phone it will replay the same song over and over and I can’t even skip the song and I have to restart the app to get it working properly but then after like 10 mins it’ll start acting up again apart from those few things the app is great but also you can’t find other peoples playlists which would be a good thing they should add because I can always remake a playlist. I’ve noticed the app has also gotten worse after the ads. It continuously stop the music when I turn off my phone and sometimes the ads won’t let you click off of them. I really like the YouTube feature thingy where you can get songs from YouTube that aren’t on Spotify and stuff and just put them into your playlist. One of the reasons I came here from Spotify was cost and ad free. But I’ll continue with this on premium for now. Worked perfectly and instantly. I'm a fan now! I tried this app before cancelling my other music service and before purchasing the premium version. I was happy with what I had found however, since I started using this app exclusively, I have found more than a handful of songs that are incorrect. They are not the songs they say they are. There are also songs that are poor quality live versions of songs when they are supposed to be there album version. Lastly, if there are alternate versions of songs that are on extended albums the originals are seemingly all replaced by the alternate versions, e.g. duets and I can't find the original versions. Overall I'm frustrated because I'm constantly worrying whether I'll hear the actual song I want or not. **Developer response:** Sorry to hear that! Lyra pulls from YouTube, and sometimes the auto-matcher picks an alternate version (live, remix, instrumental) instead of the official track. Here's how to fix it: long-press the song → tap the three dots → "Report problem → Wrong audio." That teaches our system to use the correct version next time. You can also search directly for the artist and song to find the right one. Once you pick the correct track, it stays in your library. We're always improving our matching — thanks for your patience! ### 5/5 — Amazing *2026-08-21, version 1.4.11* everything about this app is amazing! I don’t know why people are complaining about premium too, since it’s like 3 times less the price of Spotify premium! The app functions well (maybe a bit laggy at times) I did buy premium and here’s three things I would like to add: 1, more customization, for example: custom themes, you can choose your own colours!, 2: better transitions, without premium there isn’t even a fade in/ out customization option, maybe make something like Spotifys new custom transition option where you can customize which section of the song comes after the last song, 3: the ability to download songs on premium, I understand that there may be copywrite issues but maybe just make it save the songs to the device? A lot of times I want to listen to songs offline, that’s all!
