No I have full remote control to another Apple device just directly connected to my DAC for full HiFi listening. Since version 1.2 I would consider it as stable enough to take a constant place in my home network. I hope the app will be maintained constantly in the future with the further iOS/MacOS Updates. Thank you so much for developing this app. ### 5/5 — Excellent remote control app for audiophiles who use Apple Music *2026-04-07* Updated review 7 April 2026 The developer Tim seems committed to resolving all issues with his Lysoniq app. After some troubleshooting, he identified the specific reason why the Lysoniq app did not work in my case. Apparently, the app had an issue with mesh Wi-Fi networks (my home network has a mesh). He has since successfully resolved this problem - even if it took him a few months to do so. I then got a heads-up from him last week to try the updated app - which I did yesterday. Voila, it works perfectly now! I am able to remotely control my music iPad which is hard-wired to my DAC, with another iPad from the comfort of my couch - and listen to all my lossless and hi-res lossless Apple music content - including my entire Library. Fantastic! All you audiophiles out there who use Apple Music connected to your DACs/amps, go ahead and get this app - it makes life so convenient. Note: Ensure you have Apple Music installed on both devices and also, that both are set to Sync Library. Then, install the Lysoniq app on both devices (same license) and that they are both on the same Wi-Fi network. Thereafter, use only the Lysoniq app on your (control) iPad or iPhone, to play your Apple Music content - not the Apple Music app. The Lysoniq interface is good and somewhat similar to Apple Music. ———— First review 2 Oct 2025 Does NOT work 95% of the time What I thought was a welcome app for us audiophiles to control our Apple Music remotely, turns out to be a failed experiment - doesn't work 95% of the time. Even when it (barely) works for a few minutes, it's quite a fiddle to get things going. You cannot access your library (albums or playlists) from the control device. So I don't really see the point of this app, if even the basic controls of Apple Music can't be done? In my case, I have an iPad hardwired to my DAC and use another iPad to try to control it remotely over WiFi with this app (both have to be on the same network, with Lysonic running on both). There is no trial version of the app, so I had to buy it to even check it out - buyers please be aware. Sadly, a total waste of my time and money. The only thing is that it's a lifetime purchase, so fingers crossed that after the next few updates, maybe it will actually work at some point. Till then, guess I'll have to wait...or find another solution that comes into the market. **Developer response:** Thanks for the updated review! ### 5/5 — Unique app. Excellent support. *2026-04-03* The developer is the most friendly customer support I have ever come across. He also keeps the app frequently updated and adds new features to the extent that Apple allows it. The app is now relatively stable, with understandable amount of bugs and quirks here and there, but once you get it going, it works rather well. Overall, highly recommended for it's unique features and excellent support. ### 5/5 — Just what I was looking for! *2026-04-01* I’ve recently gotten into hi-fi audio, building out my system (speakers, amps, etc.) and the only thing missing was a way to stream hi-res/lossless music. Since AirPlay is lossy and having to get up every time I wanted to change the song on my iPad Pro connected to my DAC was starting to get annoying, I got a Tidal subscription and bought a WiiM Pro. This combination works great but it means I have to have a new music subscription on top on top of my existing Apple Music subscription, and it’s awkward trying to sync my two libraries for music. Then I came across this app and it’s exactly what I was looking for! I have my iPad Apple Music settings set to Hi-Res Lossless, have it connected via usb to my DAC and I can control it directly from any of my other Apple devices, no matter where I am in my house. In terms of looks, it’s honestly very close to the native Apple Music app. Still some things that can be refined but it’s 100% usable. Functionally, it’s basically all there too. Would definitely recommend if you’re also in the same (maybe niche) boat as I was! I still have my Tidal/WiiM setup right now but this app may push me to cancel/sell those. **Developer response:** Thank you for the review! But it’s UI is also a great improvement on Apple Music all for under a tenner. Thanks, Tim! ### 5/5 — Perfect for Audiophiles using Apple Music as their platform *2026-01-14* Downloaded this app as I was looking for a way to control my iPhone/iPad connected to my hifi setup. This worked flawlessly and is a perfect substitute to SpotifyConnect. It works just like SpotifyConnect but with Apple Music. You will need to install it on two devices (the playing device and remote control device). Fairly easy to setup. ### 5/5 — Great app for audiophiles *2026-01-08* If you want to hi-res/lossless stream from say an iPad via usb/DDC to your DAC, and don’t want to get up just to skip a track: this is the way to go. Perfect solution to remote-control music playing on your iPad with your iPhone (or another iPad). Layout very much like Apple Music, no server/NAS/Plex/whatsoever needed, access to Apple Music Playlists, collections, everything there. Seven stars, if that was possible. First World niche problem fixed perfectly! *2025-12-21* Much thanks to the developers of this app. The problem of getting a controllable way to hear bit perfect music from Apple Music is finally fixed by this great app. I have an old iPad permanently connected to my KEF LS50W running bit perfect Apple Music which can be controlled from either an iPad or iPhone from the sofa - and icing on the cake - MacBook running the app sending display information via hdmi to the TV - another first world niche problem fixed - so far no major issues - software runs well most of the time and any glitches quickly fixed using the ‘turn it off and on’ method- rarely does an app come along that precisely fixes the problem I want to overcome. ### 5/5 — Made my hi-fi setup way more convenient *2025-12-09* I’m so glad I found Lysoniq! After switching to Apple Music as my music service, I was stuck trying to easily play it through my 2-channel hi-fi system. Since Apple Music lacks a Spotify Connect-style feature, most streamers don't support Apple Music. I'd resorted to running a long USB cable from my DAC to an iPad at my listening position—it worked but was annoying and inelegant. I seriously considered switching back to Spotify and buying a modest streamer just to avoid the hassle. Then I discovered Lysoniq and decided to give it a try…and it works great! I bought it on my iPhone, downloaded it on my iPad, followed the setup steps, and it just works. Now I simply unlock my iPad, open Lysoniq, and control playback from my phone. No more cables. Ipad - via Apple dongle DAC- to decent amplifier/speakers. Sitting on the sofa changing tracks and searching for music while listening to CD quality from Apple Music!! Controls Apple Music on my iPad that connected to my dac. It’s just that it doesn’t just “work” all of the time. Seems like I have to restart my iPad for it to work. Some times that dost do it, then restart phone. Maybe it works back maybe not. Very frustrating. Great when it works. YMMV **Developer response:** Please try the latest version, v1.2.0. There are many improvements for connectivity and general stability in there. To avoid any issues please be sure to update all devices. ### 3/5 — Great app, but physical volume buttons don't work *2026-02-24* I use this to remotely control music on my MacBook Pro (M5) from my iPhone 15pm– perfect for couch listening with my HD660S2 headphones. The app works well for browsing my library and playback, but the iPhone's physical volume buttons do nothing when in remote mode. The on‑screen slider works (though with slight lag). Please fix this so I can adjust volume without looking at my phone. Otherwise, a solid remote solution. **Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback! To stream hi res Apple Music from my iPad through a DAC to my hifi, all controlled through my iPhone. Such a shame the connection between the two is so on & off all of the time. For the short time it does work it's great, but as is it's unusable. Connections should be pretty rock solid between devices. ### 4/5 — Good solution for hi-res into hifi *2025-11-10* So this, at first pass, seems to deliver. It Connects 2 devices (for me it’s 2 iPhones - new one sends and an old one that I was going to sell receives) and allows the receiving one (connected via SMSL PO100 optical to HIFI) to deliver hi-res into a receiver/amp etc. It’s not without some usability challenges although some of that will be user familiarity/orientation etc. I find the colour scheme on ‘now playing’ difficult to read. And send/receive devices read ‘iPhone’ and ‘iPhone’ so identity is difficult . That aside I’ve only been using for a week but I love the fact I’m now getting some hi-res into my system without having to always visit the connected device. **Developer response:** Thanks for your review, in the settings page you can change the device name and also select an appropriate theme to improve contrast. What they did Apple was unable to do. Not only do I now have a working remote for Apple Music but the music sounds better! The interface is very similar to Apple Music so there is very little learning curve. Lysonic works from my iPhone, iPad and MacBook. Same music plays so it is seamless going from one interface to the other. There are still bugs to work out, some lag, some tracks that will not play but this is a small sacrifice. Der Mac hängt am DAC - steht aber nicht am Hörplatz. Alles war nur zusätzlicher Verkabelung möglich. iPhone oder iPad per Toslink am DAC oder nur Steuerung meiner Bibliothek. Das ist nun Geschichte, da die Steuerung mit Lysonic sehr gut funktioniert. Das entweder bei Apple Music auf dem Mac oder ein (älteres) iPad direkt auch am DAC.
