### 4/5 — Danged addictive game!

*2013-03-15, version 2.0*

I try not to play games on my iPad, really… I have more important things to do, but sheesh, there is something about breakout, and this one in particular, that has me hooked. Smooth gameplay (except for my finger sometimes sliding off the paddle), great graphics, and a sweet soundtrack… very well done! Oops, have to go play again. :-)

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2012-09-15, version 2.0*

The desktop classic at its best and good to go on the road! Well done!

### 5/5 — Awesome game!

*2012-08-03, version 2.0*

Old school at its best!

### 5/5 — Love this game

*2012-07-27, version 2.0*

Well-thought-out game that's fun and challenging. The more you play, the better you get at it. The better you get at it, the more fun it is. The more fun it is, the more you play.

### 5/5 — Super Fun & Challenging!

*2012-07-17, version 2.0*

This is a super fun and challenging take on the classic game! The levels are really well designed, each with its own theme and strategies. The levels start nice and easy, but the pace ramps up as you clear out bricks. There are a ton of twists and items to explore that really change up the gameplay. There really is a great spirit of fun in this game!

The 2.0 version of the game made it even better. Now you can play any level you've unlocked, which means this game is something you can play when you just want to kill a few minutes. Or you can always take a run at a high score from Level 1. Plus, the game now has fun and creative music that goes really well with the design of each of the levels. Check it out!

### 5/5 — Great Game

*2012-06-25, version 2.0*

I think this is a fun game that stimulates brain activity. I give it an A+

### 5/5 — Wild!!

*2012-06-13, version 2.0*

UPDATE!
I still think this is a great game!! Now even better. The update allows me to select my favorite levels. That's great for me since my coordination is not so good. Umphee is so cute he should be on a t-shirt!

For those who have had problems with the game-I have asked questions of the developer and his customer service can't be beat. Give that a try if you have a problem. Do the in app purchase. You won't be sorry!

I'm playing the full version. On level one something happened-don't know how-and suddenly it seemed like I had every possible ball and capsule plus the smokin' eye flying around!!! So fun! Then Umphee was bouncing around too and I kept hearing BONUS and
"25,000!!" Way, way fun! There are so many little surprises in this game and half the fun is figuring out how to make them happen again.

That was a blast!! Get the full version!

### 5/5 — Love it

*2012-06-09, version 2.0*

The game has been my heroin for more than a decade. I can't get enough.

### 5/5 — Awesome game

*2012-05-23, version 2.0*

I Beta tested & downloaded the new release. No problems and a great game. Also, the developer is VERY responsive and will addressed all my concerns when I contacted him.
Definitely a must have game for everyone.

### 5/5 — Update downgraded me to the free version?

*2012-05-22, version 2.0*

I have already purchased the full version, but after this update I now have the limited, free version again. The app wants me to purchase the full version again now. Please fix this!

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2012-04-05, version 1.0*

This game is awesome
I❤this game!!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Terribly out of date…

*2026-01-28, version 2.2.2*

The last update was four years ago and although I’m only using iOS 17.7 the app completely crashes/closes as soon as I select any one of the three free games. Warm reboot doesn’t help fix the crash. Oh well, time to free up a little storage space.

### 1/5 — Lose your game if pausing

*2021-04-20, version 2.2.2*

Your current game and score will magically disappear if you pause and turn off the screen, meaning you cannot stop playing if you want to unlock later levels and making high scores irrelevant.

### 1/5 — MacBrickout

*2020-11-12, version 2.2.1*

I paid for these games & the screen was frozen after the first level

### 1/5 — Full version?

*2020-04-12, version 2.1.1*

I paid 4.99 for the full version but all levels past the seventh are still locked.

### 1/5 — WASTE OF MONEY

*2014-11-17, version 2.0*

I love mac brickout and there were no problems with the app, but I don't like that buying the full version means that I still only have 3 levels. Why should I pay $2.99 and have no benefits from it? Disgusting that a company would do this to their customers and not make clear that buying the full version has no benefits. I also hate that the full version is an in-app purchase, which means iTunes credits cannot be used to purchase it.

### 1/5 — Ripoff Alert

*2012-05-23, version 2.0*

I bought the earlier version of this game and liked it. But when I downloaded the update, it eliminated the full version I had paid for and replaced it with a very limited free version. It now wants me to pay for the full version a second time. This is stealing.

### 2/5 — Awkward orientation

*2011-04-09, version 1.0*

I've played this game for years and was looking forward to playing it on the iPad, but I find the portrait orientation quite awkward. I'm sorry to say, but I don't think I'll be buying the full version unless they add the ability to play in landscape mode.

### 3/5 — So much potential

*2021-12-13, version 2.2.2*

I want to love this game but unfortunately the developer has mistaken annoyances for fun. Things like illogical bounces and over bombardment of bubbles along with being forced to take poison pills because the ball somehow magically ends up in the same spot as the ball make this game more frustrating than fun. I am up for a challenge but when the algorithm is controlling the ball more than you are it’s no longer a game of skill as much as it is luck.

### 3/5 — Poor design logic

*2015-03-21, version 2.0*

The logic built into this game does not make the game pleasant in many instances. Yes it is good to have challenges in games but not frustrating challenges. You'll have to play the game for a while to know what I am taking about.

### 4/5 — Annoyingly addictive.

*2013-04-22, version 2.0*

It would be better if there were fewer occasions when the game arbitrarily ignores its "normal" responses to capriciously sabotage play. A gap large enough for the ball sometimes should ALWAYS be large enough for it.

It would also be nice to have a way to erase high scores, other than deleting and re-installing it on my iPod.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Current version crashes

*2018-08-21*

(Updated version crashed) I love MacBrickout! Played for years on my Mac. Game play translated very well to mobile. Loads quickly. Such a well designed game. So much variability yet room for skill to affect outcome. Classic game - very glad to see mobile version <3

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2018-07-27*

Amazing! Really good, but how can I be able to play the full version on the Mac? I got the old hardware for it..

**Developer response:** Updated Mac version is in development now!

### 5/5 — Good but is missing mania and 3.0 levels

*2018-07-23, version 2.1.1*

I don’t get it there are 3.0 levels and mania levels in the pc version but not the iOS version but I am not in the mood to find and place a register file to play those levels so please add them to the iOS version and this game is up with my top brick breakers which are not counting this game bashi blocks all 5 brick breaker revolution games a brick breaker with a hand drawn art style and unique gimmicks that I forget the name of so you made a good game so please add in the mania and 3.0 levels and update the pc version to 5.0

### 5/5 — Old school Player

*2018-07-01, version 2.1.1*

I’ve been playing this game since the version 3.0 days. Please bring the 3.0 and Mania levels to the mobile platform. I’m sticking to your old 4.2.3 version on my PC because it’s fully loaded with all the old levels in it.

### 5/5 — Love this game

*2016-07-17, version 2.0*

I have been a fan of this game for a long time. I am glad to see it make it to the iDevices. My only complaint, or maybe I don't see it, I can't resume where I left off. I hate to have to start over every single time. Fix that and I will give it ten stars. Also I can't add my name to the highest scores. No matter where I click I am not able to enter my name. Hopefully you are still looking at these reviews. Best brickout game out there.

### 5/5 — Great game and great developer

*2014-02-02, version 2.0*

I have games on my phone to take up time when I'm waiting for stuff in real life. And although mac brickout isn't the most complex game, it does accomplish this. It's very amusing with all of it's creative little tricks. It's an awesome old school game!

I also had an experience with the developer. I paid for the full version and then it didn't work. So I emailed the developer and he responded the same day on a Saturday night with instructions on how to get the full version. Very impressive.

### 5/5 — Great game

*2013-05-08, version 2.0*

Lots of fun, and very well programmed.

### 5/5 — Amazing!!!

*2013-04-22, version 2.0*

### 5/5 — The bomb

*2013-01-08, version 2.0*

This is a fantastic game and there is a bomb.
