### 1/5 — nothing had updated for weeks

*2026-02-17, version 4.3*

I noticed nothing was updating for weeks.

### 1/5 — App no longer updating

*2026-02-13, version 4.3*

No new articles syncing since more than a week ago.

### 3/5 — App Doesn’t Update

*2026-02-10, version 4.3*

The last article to upload to the app was February 4, 2026 at 5:15pm - please fix

### 3/5 — Needs big update

*2023-11-02, version 4.3*

I like the timeliness and the content here. But the site is very slow to update, and badges no longer appear on the icon. Perhaps it’s a bandwidth problem. But an update is certainly needed.

### 1/5 — It started good and is getting worse with each update

*2023-07-22, version 4.3*

The rebuilt app was a good move in the beginning and provided a more consistent user interface. Now it’s just getting worse each release with pop up ads taking over the whole screen, the menu bar header is right in the middle of the screen - clearly a bug - but this is an indication of poor testing process! Cookie acceptance pop up that won’t close no matter how many times you click the close and accept button. It’s becoming impossible to read any of the articles without accidentally tapping on an ad you have no interest in or trying to scroll so the menu isn’t in the way.

Please improve your testing before you release an update or hire some professionals that know how to test. Go back to your requirements and think about usability a little more before launching all the click bait ads and pop ups.

### 3/5 — brilliant analysis marred by pro-Trump leanings

*2022-02-08, version 4.3*

Excellent analysis and humourous commentary on all things Mac.
Sadly a quiet haven of pro-Trump sentiment, born out by the fact that T. is still referred to—14 months after losing the vote—in their headlines as "President Trump", then in the article as "former President Trump". Tricky guys, bet no one notices that...
How can they be smart enough to make these canny takes on the Mac market place yet still be suckers for the country's greatest grifter?

### 1/5 — Agree that redirects to AppStore are bad

*2020-11-29, version 4.3*

November 2020 update: The app continues to pop up a message about how bad things are, and it does it for every article. Unfortunately, the developer hasn’t learned, and it is time to uninstall the application. Instead of whining about how bad advertising rates are, how about building a subscription model into the application? $0.99/month or $9/year and it gets rid of all of the ads. While it doesn’t have the progressive, wokeness of so much of Big Tech, I’m tired of seeing the same old “sky is falling” message on every article I click on.

April 2020 update: The app now pops up a message that advertising rates are bad and to please support them. I don’t mind a pop up for the first article that I click on until the next time that I open up the app, but it is repeated over and over for each new article that I click on. For that reason, I’m dropping my ranking from 5 stars to 2 stars. I’m sorry they’re having difficulty but popping up the same message over and over again is not the way to solve the problem.

I am pleased to say that I can raise my ranking to 5 stars from the previous 3 stars. The reason? The ads are much improved and no longer have their obnoxious behavior.

Old version of the review; no longer applicable:
I am finally coming to the conclusion after constantly being sent into the AppStore while trying to read articles that it is time to uninstall and use a browser like Blaze to read MacDailyNews. Like others, I might be willing to pay $1.99 to remove ads. I abhor the switch to the AppStore. If I can be assured that it has been corrected, I will reload it.

### 1/5 — Absolute rubbish

*2020-10-16, version 4.3*

poor design
biased « reporting »
very little about Macs
extremely polite
zero fact checking

Don’t waste your time with this app !!!!

### 1/5 — Has become political

*2020-10-15, version 4.3*

No longer reports technology objectively. Injecting political items and political opinions into app.

### 1/5 — Still Getting worse- updated

*2020-04-24, version 4.3*

Previously, down graded because the ads consumed about 3/4 of the page. Well, they have done it. Got rid of one of the multiple ads and replaced it with a giant solicitation consuming the whole page. About time to ditch MDN. Lastly iClarified has the same articles sooner than MDN (sometimes by a day). And without the almost totally un-related political comments.

### 2/5 — I like the Feed but the app is lacking

*2020-01-04, version 4.3*

I like the feed and comments but the app needs maintaining, ads sometimes go haywire and the app quits unexpectedly very often after updating to iOS 13

### 2/5 — Delete old articles

*2019-10-26, version 4.3*

I really like the quick acquisition of all news Apple. What is really frustrating is the lack of any ability to delete old articles. The only solution I’ve found is to delete the app and reload it—not very Mac-like!

### 1/5 — The app continually crashes

*2019-09-12, version 4.3*

Crashing and pop up ads make this apps unusable. The worst app I’ve ever used.

### 2/5 — The scammer ads are back

*2019-09-05, version 4.3*

Today I got full screen takers with “Google” telling me my phone was compromised click ok to fix.

### 1/5 — Reloaded app and Nothing is displayed

*2019-09-01, version 4.3*

I noticed nothing was updating for weeks so I reloaded the app now the app is completely empty of postings.

### 1/5 — Awful Ad Serving Web Browser Disguised As An App

*2019-08-23, version 4.3*

Got a message from the Developer that they fixed the creepy Facebook-esque tracking cookies and ads. They LIED.

One week after redownloading the app, I got a scam warning that my iPhone was infected with 39 viruses. I had only 4 minutes and 44 seconds to install AdControl to prevent damage to my “contacts, photos, data, applications, etc.”

The only safe way to access MDN is with a browser equipped with an ad blocker. Google Chrome’s ad blocking tools are particularly effective, which somehow seems like justice.

MDN is banished from my phone until they stop peddling scamware.

### 2/5 — Great Site, Horrible App

*2019-08-22, version 4.3*

Update: the latest version fixed the App Store link issue but the multiple banner ads are still overly aggressive. There is a regular banner ad at the bottom but another “pop-up” as that takes up the bottom right quadrant of the screen. I added a star (now 2 stars) for the App Store fix.

Original: Great site but I no longer use it every day. Besides aggressive banner ads, the app tends to launch the App Store to link to advertised apps. Having to shut down the App Store every time I select an article got tiresome.

Apple insider or iMore are much better apps.

### 4/5 — How can a Pro Apple app be so poor !!!

*2019-08-20, version 4.3*

This must be the worst and cheapest app developer ever, or actually the laziest. Can’t believe they don’t support iPhone X screen yet !!! And they are all about Apple!

I don’t have the ads problem of ads taking over. But the iPad version stops updating every while to the extent that I have to remove and re install.

The content however is great and a must have app, only for the info it provides.

And I love the MacDailyNews take commentary.

UPDATE... it took them a long while to get their act together... shame on them... but the latest iteration is great.

I only miss the ability to increase font size, hence 1 Star less

### 1/5 — Latest version

*2019-08-19, version 4.3*

The pop up Ads Are ridiculous. Hides a third of the screen and will not go away. I’m not using MAC Bailey anymore. Easier to find other sources for the same information. Without pop up ads.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Censorship

*2026-07-08, version 4.3*

I wrote an honest review on one of their subjects, they didn’t block my comment. But they edited my words to suit them.

They will slam Apple, and then lift them again. Honestly, they are day traders that think they can make Apple go up and down so they can buy and sell. 😂😂😂

### 1/5 — Censorship

*2026-06-18, version 4.3*

I wrote my honest review on one of their subjects, they didn’t block my comment. But they edited my words to suit them. I straight up block would not have been totally welcome. But they changed my words to suit their vibe. Dude, I got “China-ed” by a so called USA company that supports what ever dribble falls out of Trumps mouth.

### 1/5 — App not working

*2026-03-25, version 4.3*

Really terrible app on an iPad Pro. No longer loading articles. When it did numerous pop-up ads overlayed the stories making it very annoying to read them. One month and still not fixed. Reloaded the app and still not working. Cannot recommend this app to anyone.

### 1/5 — Abandoned App?

*2026-03-22, version 4.3*

This app stopped updating about a month ago. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and it still doesn’t work.

### 1/5 — Update

*2026-03-16, version 4.3*

The App is no longer working. No longer getting daily news.

### 1/5 — App not working

*2026-02-27, version 4.3*

Really terrible app on an iPad Pro. No longer loading articles. When it did numerous pop-up ads overlayed the stories making it very annoying to read them. 22 days and still not fixed. Cannot recommend this app to anyone.

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2026-02-23, version 4.3*

Update 2-23-26:
The app goes
Unsupported with not updates in about 3 weeks now. They still have a substack and are current there.
———————-
Update 10-23-15: comments and share still crash the app. Unbelievable.
-------------
UPDATE 7-31-15: And the update for iOS 8 still crashes...
-----------
I love Macdailynews the web site. But this app is really not cutting it, especially on the iPad. Poor formatting, really slow, unable to resume where you left off in the article list, crashes when you try to share, unable to post comments... What can I say? Perhaps you should get some clues from Pulse News?... When I use my iPad to read and research, it needs to add something to the laptop/desktop experience - typically that is speed and immediacy of access, great overview of the content available, etc. in this case, it's so far from it it makes me wonder who's thinking what here?... Please try again?... 2 stars for content.

### 5/5 — Redirects to buy Malware
